Big retirement party

Miles Davidson, retiring U U Western region v.p. for National Building Centers, went over to the Hyatt House in Los Angeles recently for dinner, he was expecting "a handful" of old friends at an intimate dinner to perhaps take note ofhis then impending retirement.

What really happened was something very different.

The ever efficient NBC crew hired a huge hall, two fast bartenders and then put on a cocktail party and dinner and gave Miles Davidson a King Kong sized going away party. Not the least of which was the more than 300 friends and acquaintances who came to honor him, some of whom travelled from Oregon and Washington just for the party. His brother Roy made it in from St. Louis for the big occasion.

Asa Jennings, NBC headman, was one of a nurrrber of speakers who lauded Miles, taking note (among the good humored jabs) of his competance, leadership abilities and many friends.

And yes, he was really surprised by the surprise party.
