To the Bourbonnais Township Park District Community,

As we embrace the autumn season, I invite you to soar with the BTPD and make the most of this beautiful time of the year. In the words of Delia Owens, “Autumn leaves don’t fall; they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar.” Let us seize this opportunity and create unforgettable memories together.

Equally, as the Executive Director, I am thrilled to present the Fall 2023 Bourbonnais Township Park District brochure to you. Our goal is to enrich the quality of life through recreation, education, and preservation, and this brochure reflects our commitment to meeting your needs and providing exceptional experiences for all ages. It is incumbent to meet the needs of our patrons, stakeholders, and program participants. As such, while fulfilling our comprehensive master plan, we continually update our facilities, beautify our parks, and, finally, make BTPD a diamond-level park district.

I am delighted to share the exciting upgrades and improvements that have taken place at Perry Farm Park since last fall. We have replaced all the roofs with durable shake-style vinyl roofs that will stand the test of time. The historic farmhouse has undergone extensive restoration, including restoring most of its windows and adding new doors to welcome our patrons. Moreover, for your convenience, we have expanded the parking spaces near the barnyard playground and across from Centennial Orchard. We have also added seven (7) new planters next to our barns and are in the process of adding a new zip-line for our younger children.

In line with our mission, we have introduced new programs that cater to various interests and age groups. Explore the world of Johnny Appleseed at Exploration Station and join our new Holiday Jr Chef program, where little ones can have fun preparing ghostly goodies for Halloween. On page 23, you will find the revamped

Get Fit program focusing on 80’s Aerobics. Additionally, we have introduced a finance program for youth, aiming to enhance their understanding of money management.

Our signature Fall events, Sleepy Hollow and Scarecrow Festival are back and better than ever. We are excited to partner with the Kankakee Valley Theatre Association and Kankakee Arts Council in September and October. Don’t miss our newest event, Rock the Farm, which will showcase local acts, and finally, get ready for the return of Blues & Brews, now bigger and better in its second year. For detailed event information, please refer to pages 14-17.

I sincerely hope you take advantage of the top-notch programs, events, and educational opportunities we offer. Our dedicated staff has compiled various choices catering to all ages and interests across Perry Farm, Willowhaven, Diamond Point Park & Splash Pad, and our Recreation Station. Stay tuned for more exciting upgrades and enhanced recreational opportunities we have in store for you.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you at the Bourbonnais Township Park District this fall.
