Dear Residents Of Bourbonnais Township Park District,

Hello everyone and welcome to the Bourbonnais Township Park District Fall Brochure. Inside you will find many recreation opportunities that you and your family will surely enjoy. I sincerely hope everyone had a great summer season and are now ready for the coming cool fall weather.

Thank you to all of you who have reached out welcoming me to the BTPD. I’ve appreciated getting to know everyone over the summer season and look forward to meeting other residents over the coming years. For the families that I’ve not met yet please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mike O’Shea and I began working as the Executive Director this summer. I have been involved with Parks and Recreation since I graduated from the University of St. Francis in 2006. I’m excited to work with you all and assist in bringing the best recreation quality of life to you and your family. In my short time with the BTPD, I am very aware of the great future and rich history this Park District has. It’s very obvious to see that the current Park District team and Board are all hardworking, dependable, and loyal individuals. There is so much to look forward to in the future and I promise that you all will be very happy with our direction.

Within this brochure and through December please lookout for our 2024 Recreation Needs Assessment Survey. This is a very important survey that will help us assist you in providing a positive quality recreation life. The Recreation Needs Assessment Survey will strictly focus on recreation needs, for example, programs, events and more. Additionally, we want to learn from you what is working that we can further develop, what is not working, new types of programs or events to focus on and more. Overall, the purpose is to learn from your household feedback on what types of recreation opportunities and improvement you may or may not like to see. Please take about fifteen minutes to read and answer each question

so that we can make the most informed future decisions. You can find the link to the survey on page 6, so please be honest, respectful, provide true feedback and thank you in advance for your time.

Additionally, please take time to read through this great fall brochure. Our signature events such as Sleepy Hollow, Scarecrow Festival and Christmas on the Farm events are returning. The staff has done a great job in providing these recreation opportunities, so you will find lots of activities for yourself and your family. Perry Farm Park and Exploration Station are in the beginning design phase of a Master Plan Improvement Project. We have lots of ideas on how we will improve this park and recreation area. Once we get further along in the process we will invite you to learn more about the planning process.

I hope you all take advantage of all our park and recreation offerings. Thank you for the support you have shown over the years and I look forward you your continued support in the coming years. This is an exciting time to be a part of the BTPD family. If you ever have a question or comment, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you again and Go Bourbonnais Township Park District!
