We created the Alumni Spotlight In order to highlight our awesome group of individuals that are part of the Brookhurst Alumnus. Brookhurst's years of Alumni have been engaging in positive contributions to society, their families and the world. Spotlighting individual members helps us to motivate the current class of students to see the sky is not the limit, more is possible.

Alumni Spotlight will be a monthly publication on our social media platforms and will lead to the development in the annual Brookhurst Yearbook. Enjoy our 15th issue.

Since moving to Australia, I have picked up a love for exploring mature, whether its visiting local parks, hiking trails, or enjoying the stunning Australian beaches. I’ve also developed an interest in trying new cuisines from the multicultural mesh that is in Australia. I’m working towards a career in medicine with the goal of specializing in emergency care. Q 2

What are your fondest memories about your time at Brookhurst International School?

My fondest memories at Brookhurst were enjoying laughter with my girls in and out of class, spending amazing time with teachers for help along with their amazing stories in and out of class. I also enjoyed playing a lot of tennis during my free time along with Coach and students too as well participating other sport activities too.

Which values did Brookhurst impart on you that have an effect on you today?

Brookhurst taught me to be a confident person, build leadership and communication skills whilst interacting with others without being shy It taught me how to survive alone without the presence of my parents as a first-time boarder I learnt how to undertake my responsibilities and develop new skills

Being away from home is sad but it feels nice to have second home at Brookhurst which I felt so much love and kindness from my lovely classmates as part of my family Brookhurst also taught me how to be a good role model by influencing people positively and being supportive to my friends and others too

Brookhurst taught me how to survive alone without the presence of my parents. As a first-time boarder I learnt how to undertake my responsibilities & develop new skills.

Q 4

What skills, hobbies or causes have you picked up since leaving Brookhurst?

Honestly, I took a break from my tennis career and pursued a photography and filmmaking course at Strathmore University from January up to March 2024 The reason I pursued that was because I am passionate about filming & writing and how the characters portray their roles in films Hopefully I’ll become a director or film writer one day when I have the time to pursue a bachelor’s degree to achieve that

What are you currently up to (Academically/Professionally)? Q 5

I am currently pursuing community health at AMREF International university in Kenya as a first year student. I hope to pass my community health course in order to pursue a program on Biostatistics and Epidemiology at USIU Kenya. Afterward graduating from USIU I hope to get a job at an international health organization on our continent in order to help those who are sick as well as those in need all over Africa.

Q 3

What did you benefit from most about doing studies at Brookhurst?

During my studies at Brookhurst I got support from my teachers who constantly believed in me. I was aided academically as well as in any other aspect of my life. I am also grateful for the support from former classmates through the discussions and team work we needed throughout the syllabus. I valued the sharing of knowledge and creation of friendship bonds that have lasted to this day.

Tell us about your transition to university life? What has been your experience? Q 6

Genuinely, it is challenging as a young lady living with hearing aids attending my first time in a Kenyan system where there is a lot of Swahili in communication I have firmly adapted though through help from friends and family

Transition to university can sometimes be lonely but being brought up by Brookhurst helps me network with people very well Being a good friend to others helps me to be a strong leader as I am currently a class representative in my academic class all thanks to the Brookhurst family

What advice would you give a Brookhurst graduate looking to join university?

I would encourage the graduates not to rush in life. Take your time to relax like participate activities to enjoy before start doing heavy responsibilities. Take your time to navigate who you are and what you want to be pursue in future. Life outside there is not easy and you need to be well prepared to take heavy responsibilities with good values and virtues before joining university.

I hope to work as an Epidemiologist or Public health analyst under United Nations and World health Organization as I aim to help save Africa once I complete a degree on Biostatistics and Epidemiology
