What are your fondest memories about your time at Brookhurst International Schools?
I loved my time at Brookhurst, I remember having a lot of fun in and out of the school campus. I enjoyed playing sports events as we would compete against other schools. The team work and comradery we had have been essential in my everyday life. I can remember the vibrant school community that fostered numerous friendships that I still treasure to this day. Q2
Which values did Brookhurst impart on you that have an effect on you today?
Brookhurst taught me key values that are reflective of my daily life today. These values are Respect, Integrity and Hard work. You need these values to ensure you live a purpose driven life. Respect for your self and others is crucial. Your integrity matters in this world. Can people

The Brookhurst environment ensured I became well grounded as an individual. I was exposed to different aspects of life. The school enabled me to be able to dream big. I value my time at the school and view the outcomes of my education and personal growth

Tell us about your transition to university life? What was your experience like?
I was blessed with the opportunity to study in two different countries; Malaysia and the United Kingdom (England). I didn’t make it easy for myself as the courses I took proved to be quite challenging. I’m quite grateful to be able to have completed my degrees despite the rigorous nature of the courses. The transition to university life abroad proved to be a major one. Life in university calls on you to take care of yourself and be more independent. Independence in university meant I had to have more control over my actions. I realized I am quite adaptable as a person. Adaptability ensured transition to university life was easier for me. I was able to blend in but sometimes I missed my family and childhood friends but with time you become increasingly busy and overcome those thoughts. The increase in activities in my university life enabled me to form new relationships and lifelong friendships on and off campus that I continue to cherish today.

What are you currently up to?
I have began working on my professional qualifications at my workplace located here in England and I recently just passed my Engineering Technician Professional Examination awarded by the Institute of Civil Engineers. Achieving this certification now ensures I am now a full member of the Institute of Civil Engineers.
Passing the Institute of Civil Engineers certification matters because it validates years of hard work and opens doors globally.

advice
would
you
give
a
Brookhurst graduate looking to study abroad?
Carry out as much research on the course that you want to take and try to ensure you go to an institution that is globally renowned for that specific course. For example. if I want to take computer science I’ll try to enroll at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). When you do get into your university of choice you need to focus on your studies, involve yourself in societies and clubs that enable networking and positively shape your future.

Fill us in on your future plans?
I am currently growing my career as a civil engineer doing projects at work and engaging in professional certification courses. My ambition is to eventually venture into business models that aim to develop the infrastructure and systems within Kenya and Africa at large. Q8
