Fancy a cruise but your partner doesn’t? Advice from Travel Consultant Mark Hallam

Many people are in this position and it’s the same reasons they give for not giving it a go. Let me dispel some of the myths. Seasickness These days ships have stabilisers and if you do suffer then this can be negated by booking a midship cabin reducing any swell or sway. Claustrophobic You may feel like this is on the day you board whilst you are waiting to access your cabin. Typically everyone is milling around discovering the ship. By day 2 youʼll be astonished when you come down for breakfast and wonder where everyone is. Cruises are for old people Average age on a Mediterranean cruise is 51.

What if I don’t get on with people at dinner? These days anytime dining is available. You can dine as a couple or join other tables of 4,6 8 or 10 so you could end up with different people each evening. Why not try one of the many taster cruises out of Southampton – I have a list of them all. Providing you sail on the correct ship as a first timer you will want to cruise again and again. Mark Hallam has been on 17 cruises so has personal knowledge of what each is like. He prides himself on being able to match customers with the right cruise line.
