Resurrection Communities together on Resurrection Day!

CONTENTS

Can the Body of Christ flourish in a time of famine? Can we expect God to resource his church to supply need in a time of economic pressure? “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure” Isaiah 33:6 Recent developments in the world’s economic systems have clearly revealed some shaky foundations. Where are we investing and what will be the Church’s response to the present times? Could there actually be resurgence in a time of recession?!

INTERVIEW

6

In the previous edition of Broadcast we read about the new £1.7million Central Baptist church community hall expansion.

INTERVIEW Terry Virgo

INTERVIEW

14

In this edition you will read how St Peter’s church are undergoing a major renovation to cost over £750,000 when not so long ago it was about to be turned into housing or storage. However the Lord has been gracious and this church has been resurrected. The Steeple church has perhaps the biggest renewal project planned in the city and we hope to feature this renewal in a forthcoming edition along with the plans of Broughty Baptist to secure bigger premises. These are not necessarily all but just a selection I am aware of (if more please let me know!) We want to encourage and rouse the Kingdom community in Dundee to remember we serve a great God! The heart of God is generous and overflows in lavish goodness to all He has made. As disciples, followers, of Christ, we have the great calling and privilege to manifest that same generous heart. The needs and opportunities are greater than ever and the return incalculable and guaranteed. Could this be a time of an outpouring of generosity that insists the Kingdom must continue to advance to flourish in a time of famine? Our prayer for you and all God’s people is expressed in Paul’s words to the Corinthians: “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Cor 9:10-11 Ian Black, Director, Dundee For Christ Can I encourage you to prayerfully think about friends, family and colleagues in Dundee who you can share Christ with and invite along to Resurrection Day!?!? 2

PRAISE GATHERING has its origins in a choir which came together in 1985 to sing the ‘Psalms Alive’ songs. At that time the invitation was given “to singers - skilled and unskilled, but with a heart for God – to come and take part in a corporate act of Praise to our God.” Over the years, many people have responded to such an invitation and there are currently just over 400 singers in the choir, drawn from about 125 different churches across Central Scotland. Praise Gathering has recorded several albums over the years, the

latest of which, Receive our Praise, is available through the choir’s website www.praisegathering.org.uk It is being distributed throughout the UK by Integrity Music. The main event in the Praise Gathering calendar is the series of summer concerts which will be held this year in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June (each evening at 7.30pm.) Prepare for something marvellous!

And a few months later CompassionArt the album was released. Featuring 14 songs that stretch and inspire, joining the dots between faith, music and action, CompassionArt brings the heart of worship a little closer to meeting the needs of a world in pain. All proceeds generated from the CD, book and song royalties will support the work of 16 initial projects over the lifetime of these songs. The four headline projects are Stop The Traffik, Watoto, Ray Of Hope and Hand Of Hope.

6

The brainchild of Martin and Anna Smith, the songwriters includingPaul Baloche, Steven Curtis-Chapman, Stuart Garrard, Israel Houghton, Tim Hughes, Graham Kendrick, Andy Park, Matt Redman, Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, Darlene Zschech and several other additional guest performers: Kirk Franklin, Amy Grant, Joel Houston, Christy Nockels, Leeland Mooring, tobyMac and CeCe Winans. Broadcast Editor Ian Black recently caught up with Martin to delve a little deeper into this marvellous project! Hi Martin, the album sounds amazing, you have so many diverse styles of recording on there... Yes it’ pretty diverse, the whole record is pretty diverse, lots of singers and artist on there, it was kinda just making everyone fit together.

Interview

It seemed a crazy idea at the time – gathering 12 of the most respected Christian songwriters for a week-long retreat in rural Scotland. They’d pay their own way, write together and give up all claim to any royalties earned from the songs. Then it got a little more crazy; within a few weeks of the retreat the writers were back together once more at London’s Abbey Road studios to record 14 songs in just 3 days, emerging with the spine and heart of an album. And then things got interesting; the publishers, labels managers and countless other industry personnel join in & unite to do something they’d never attempted before and forgo income so that money could be raised to help fight poverty around the world!

Reading the press releases, you recorded the album in Abbey Road - any particular significance to that? ......obviously very good studios! Well yeh i think it actually came down to practicalities in the end - we needed 3 separate studios - we were only there for 3 days and we had to record 15 songs and so it came down to having a facility that cope with it all. It was very exciting and we did very well there to get all that done. It was great! 7

All the publishers, manager, CCLI all waved their fees for the event? Yes that’s correct, it’s very exciting and I think it’s the first time it’s ever been done. We are looking at a system were a song is sung in church and all the royalties come direct to compassion art. You clearly had the vision for Compassion art, I particularly love ‘King of Wonders’. You got everyone together in Jan 08, it must have taken some organising? Yes, It took a year to organise. Amazing we got everyone together at the old house in Scotland. It was amazing that there were 20 songs written that week - and 14 of them are now on a record that’s out in WH Smiths, So it’s fantastic.

You all got together in Jan 08, God was clearly leading you, you said it took a year to put together, was in 05/06 you were thinking about this? Ye that’s right - it was the summer in 06 we got this idea and then I started calling people, it’s been great and really fantastic to see what Gods done. You mentioned you used a retreat in Perthshire, Scotland - obviously an inspirational place to write songs? Yeh a friend of mine owns an old hotel there by Loch Tay - we camped out there for a week everyone flew in - it really has been fantastic to see the fruit of that week and how good the songs have turned out - we are really excited!

You brought all the artists together, have a CD and Book release - do you have any other ideas and plans for Compassionart? It is one step at a time - we’d certainly love to do a live show Would you plan to do it with some of you or all of you? We’d love to do that but not sure how we’d pull it off but that’s in the pipeline and so you have to watch this space. People can get on the website and find out everything they need to know We loved seeing you here in Dundee with Delirious and would to see you again! Throughout your life you’ve been touring and as the Compassionart ambassador will there be a lot of promotional touring with compassion art? Well ye there are a lot of meetings and travel that goes with them - but its early days and we will see how things develop as it goes along They are all Christian artist, is that something you would stick with or would you like to invite other artist, maybe non-Christian artist? Yes in time that would be fantastic but I think that the relationships I have at the moment are in the Christina world so it made sense to start there. It would be fantastic to see this widen and other people take this model so again watch this space!

Was it partly your time spent in India, when you played in front of hundreds of thousands in the lead up to your Kingdom of comfort album that prompted CompasionArt? Ye that’s right, we’ve been travelling to some of these amazing places, I think the poverty that we’ve seen has really affected us and hence the latest delirious album KOC - the lyrics are talking about the tension of living where we live and yet being in these places and wanting to save peoples’ lives so you know that album is full of that lyric and that tension and I think that the next obvious step was to physically do something about it, not just

release a record but actually doing something about it so that led to releasing compassion art and trying to do something serious.

Interview

Number 32 in WH Smiths in the opening week I see, that’s good!? Yeh Yeh! Excellent!

Looked like you had some inclement weather from some of the photos I’ve seen? Yes!

That’s wonderful, I have my own wee daughter Anna, she’s a year old now, you’ve got a number of children of your own; when you toured India & saw the kids in squalor it must have been heart rendering? Ye that’s right, as you know once you have kids of your own it changes everything. Thanks Martin!

Interview with Terry Virgo

Terry Virgo

12

Tell us how you became a Christian. I first became a Christian when my sister, who had left home and was living in London, met a Christian. She came home to Brighton one weekend and asked if she could speak to me. She told me she had become a Christian, which amazed me because I thought we were all Christians. She told me she had been born again, a phrase that I had never heard. Before the evening was out I was kneeling, receiving Christ into my life. I was 16 years of age and initially made a very poor attempt at following Christ, but when I was about 20 God spoke to me

strongly through a sermon, which caused me to nail my colours and try to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. What is your ministry background? Have you always been a Bible teacher and International conference speaker? I began to attend a Baptist church which was led by a great Bibleteaching pastor. He gave me a love for Scripture and directed me to excellent books. Gradually I found that God was helping me to become a Bible teacher and gradually that sphere of teaching has grown. I began to speak at conferences and Bible Weeks, initially in the South of England and then increasingly widely within the UK and then subsequently internationally. I never dreamed that that development would take place but I have had the privilege of preaching now in many nations and I think actually in every continent. You have on occasion courted controversy, and taken a bold stance on, for example, the baptism in the Spirit and the doctrine of the church. You were also prominent in the recent controversy on penal substitution. Why do you think it is

Perhaps “in spite” of your clear stance on certain issues, you have been making friends and getting involved with churches across the evangelical spectrum, I even saw an article by David Robertson about you in the Free Church magazine. What motivates you to try and work across the evangelical churches? Nevertheless, it has always been my desire to build strong relationships with people across the Christian spectrum and we have worked very hard to make friends with God’s people wherever they are happy to meet. Each year, I gather leaders from the various church streams in the country and we enjoy excellent fellowship. I am very committed to my own family of churches, which we call Newfrontiers, but am not foolish enough to think that God is only interested in us. It’s always a pleasure to meet believers in all kinds of settings.

You have authored a number of books. I found particular encouragement from “God’s lavish grace”. Can you fill us in a little on how you think teaching on grace should affect us, and why you felt strongly enough to write a whole book on it? I have enjoyed writing books. I never thought I would write at all. At school I did not excel in writing and I think my former English teacher would have laughed if he had heard that I intended to write. God’s Lavish Grace has been one of my more recent books and highlights the vital theme of Grace. It is so possible for us to revert to a legalistic kind of religion that robs the gospel of its wonderful freedom. Following my own years of initial backsliding, I became a very zealous Christian but often that zeal was tinged with condemnation and the constant feeling that I had not done enough to please God. When God first spoke to me about His grace, it was so wonderfully releasing that I felt like the early disciples who could not believe for joy that Jesus was risen. God’s grace changes everything and I am so grateful that my book God’s Lavish Grace has been widely used and translated already into several languages. Next year it will be published in Japanese as I speak at a big pastors’ conference in Japan.

Interview

Terry, we are delighted to be having you in Dundee for Resurrection Day 2009, what is it that attracted you to Dundee? I look forward to coming to Dundee for Resurrection Day 2009. When I first came to Edinburgh, having read about the Covenanters, I was thrilled to stand on that hallowed ground and I am delighted to come into the city always associated with Robert Murray McCheyne and the great Christian heritage that he represented. I look forward to celebrating Jesus with you.

important that we engage in these debates? Doesn’t it cause division in the church? My commitment to the Scripture has sometimes led me into some controversy. This has always been with an attempt to contend for the faith. It’s important to contend without being unduly contentious! Some truths have become controversial in their time. There seem to come seasons in church life when issues become controversial. Martin Luther made the point that a good soldier is involved where the battle is actually raging, and sometimes one has been involved in battles over doctrines of importance because they are too important to yield ground on.

What do you believe we need to do to see Dundee and Scotland won for Jesus? I believe that God is committed to the local church as the agent for world evangelisation, and I do pray that He will bless the many gospelpreaching churches across Scotland and continue to raise up more. Interview by Craig Stocks Team Leader, City Church 13

Gavin Brown left (19 years) and Angus Thomson right (15 years) from Dundee will be back at school in Uganda in June this year. The difference however is that they will be helping to build a classroom for the Watoto Childcare Ministries (Charity Number 1090810) as part of a Build Team from Broughty Ferry New Kirk (Charity Number SC007031). Our Broadcast interviewer caught up with Gavin and Angus to find out more about their trip.

Time for School What do you do? I work with BT. I am also a Leader with the Boys’ Brigade Company which is linked to Broughty Ferry New Kirk. When did you learn about the trip to Uganda? In November 2008, I learned that the New Kirk Build Team wanted to take two young people with them to Uganda. My BB Captain encouraged me to apply and I was delighted to learn that I was accepted. Angus, what about you? I am still at school and learned about the work of Watoto from a

friend. I want to go to College and then do an apprenticeship in the construction industry. I am involved with the Attic which works with primary school age children and am very excited by the fantastic opportunity that I have been given.

There is also a Ceilidh on Friday 6 March in the Bonar Hall, Dundee. Tickets are £15 available in advance from Broughty Ferry New Kirk 01382 778874

Where will you be based in Uganda? I understand that we will be based outside Kampala. We may also have an opportunity of a visit to Gulu in the north of the country while we are there. What will you be doing in Uganda Angus? We will be building a classroom and working with local people. We are busy fundraising for the project and it is great to be part of the Team of 18 people who are going. There are a number of good projects. For example, there is a Concert in Broughty Ferry New Kirk on Sunday 1 February when the Dundee Branch of the National Youth Choir of Scotland will be performing with the New Kirk Choir. Tickets are £5 for adults and children are free.

Interview

Well Gavin, when did you learn about the work that Watoto do in Uganda? It was just before Christmas 2007 that I first came across Watoto when the Watoto Childrens’ Choir visited Dundee and performed a Concert in Broughty Ferry New Kirk. All the children in the Choir were orphans and their singing and their personal stories were inspirational.

What do you think the trip will do for you Gavin? Each week, the Boys’ Brigade works with thousands of young people, many of whom have no other connection with the Church. I am sure that my experience in Uganda will make me a better person and a better Leader. Angus and I hope to make a video diary of our time in Uganda and use it to help tell the Watoto story when we come back to Dundee.

Book Review The Shack

by William Paul Young

That’s the opening scenario of “The Shack”, the best Christian novel since CS Lewis laid down his pen. There’s a complication though for the central character, Mackenzie Philips. His young daughter has been abducted four years ago. Her torn, blood-soaked dress had been found in the very shack that he’s now being invited to return to. So who has written the note? The murderer? A cruel hoaxer? Or could it even be God? Mackenzie Philips does end up meeting God, Father, Son and Spirit. 16

It’s mind-blowing – mind-changing, too. I can safely guarantee that you could not predict his experiences – yet they ring remarkably true for all of us. This book has well and truly broken out of the Christian ghetto, being sold by supermarkets as well as Christian bookshops. It’s very well written. There’s psychological depth and spiritual insight. It’s utterly convincing. “You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!” claims the note on the back cover. I reckon that’s just about right.

Richard Coton

The Shackis the latest publishing phenomena from the US, selling from one to two million copies depending on who you are reading. The book has been warmly received and is being seen by many Christians as a great way to communicate the Gospel. I came to this book with an open mind. There are some good points and some interesting discussions in the book but overall it is disappointing. I don’t mind that that The Shack is not particularly well written (I found myself getting bored at what is in effect a sermon in story form) . Nor is it a major concern that the book is full of the sugary sentimentalism which results in the Disneyfication of Christianity. No – where it really matters is in the New Age spirituality, the heretical doctrine and the hyped commercialism. Firstly there is the now familiar emergent/New Age attack upon the Bible - Who needs the Bible when as ‘the Holy Spirit’ says you will learn to hear my thoughts in yours? Then there is the usual attack on the ‘Church’. Jesus says ‘I don’t create institutions, never have, never will’. There is an element of truth in that but there is also a considerable element of destructive falsehood. It is Jesus who died for the Church, and Jesus who provided apostles, prophets, teachers, etc for the Church. It gets worse. ‘Jesus’ says I have no desire to make them Christians (speaking of those who were Buddhists, Mormons, Baptists, or Muslims).

Really. I thought the point was that we would become Christ’s Ones – followers of him who died and gave his life for us? But for me the major heresy in the whole book is the way that the second commandment is completely ignored. One assumes that the Lord had a good reason for telling us not to make an idol in the form of anything to represent Him. Does God not know best how to reveal himself without us getting in the way by creating our own images? This book is dangerous. Not because it challenges us, or makes us think about ourselves. But rather because it could, as Kathie Lee Gifford points out, change the way that some people think about God forever (or at least until eternity). If you want to know about God then read the Bible. If you want to know God then believe the Bible. If you want to see how far down the road the church in the Western World has gone from reasonable, historical, biblical, Christ centred Christianity then read The Shack.

Review

Imagine you’re at home one day. You’re on your own. You notice that a note has been dropped through your letterbox. It claims to be from God. The writer is inviting you to meet him in an isolated shack that you know, high up in the mountains. Would you go? It’s a hoax – it’s got to be. And yet?

A perfect learning environment is impossible to attain but this is not far from it. A community of believers - from the support staff to the lecturers and students - eliminates most if not all of the detrimental aspects of my previous learning experiences. When I think of ICC, I don’t think of a cold faceless institution, I think of my friends - both lecturers and students. I think of a community of believers who are praying for and supporting each other and building relationships. Relationships I am certain will far outlast our time spent studying and growing together. I would encourage anyone considering applying to join the family.

So what is ICC like? It is primarily an academic institution – a serious academic endeavour. However, for me, it is much more than a university; it is also a community of believers. There are only about 150 full time students so it is easy to get to know everyone. After experiencing both formal school and further education the most striking thing for me was the learning environment that I encountered, and the tangible sense of support and community I felt from the first days attending the college. This was in the face of a great emotional turmoil due to the

untimely and unexpected death of the vice principle.

Signpost International Empowering people, transforming communities

For nearly 20 years Signpost International has been working with people living in poverty, which disempowers and reduces their ability to choose. Often the traditional model of aid can actually contribute to this problem by fostering an unhealthy dependency culture that is equally debilitating, with the ‘power imbalance’ between funder and beneficiary leading to money, and not need, driving the agenda. To find real and lasting solutions to the difficult circumstances of people living in poverty, Signpost International began to work from ‘the bottom up’, basing everything on their expressed needs and concerns and a shared vision for change. 26

Signpost discovered that by building capacity at a local level, and through the provision of support and information networks, we can give help that is a hand up, not a hand out, allowing these communities to find sustainable solutions to their own needs. This way of working is leading to real results for the poor... In an urban slum in the Philippines Signpost works with local residents to help build their management skills and increase their levels of confidence. Three years on they are now managing sustainable projects including the provision of electricity and clean water, initially from funding given by Signpost International, but now organised and financed by the community itself. Signpost also operates a child sponsorship scheme, with the sponsorship money invested to benefit the whole community, including health education and healthcare provision.

read about D4C generated media at www.dundeeforchrist.com/projects

As Christians the gospel compels us to liberate and free people from poverty, violence and oppression as a physical demonstration of God’s unconditional love. As our faith opens us up to fully express the love that God has planted within us we incarnate the gospel as a brother, not as from ‘one above’ to ‘one below’. In this context mission is a journey where neither party knows the outcome but is guided by that which ‘is important to you is important to me’. It is a communal journey where we all have the capacity to change.

In southern India Signpost is using a rights-based approach to empower some of the country’s most marginalised tribespeople, improving access to education and increasing literacy rates by providing night schools and summer camps. Improved literacy helps them to access their democratic rights to land, education and a political voice. With increased awareness of their rights tribal villages have been able to apply pressure on local government to provide land security for their homes, a clean water supply for their villages and education for their children.

“At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality.” 2 Corinthians 8: 14 Signpost International is also actively working amongst the Hilltown community of Dundee. everyone but fans will be firmly disappointed at the lack of anything new. The Best Yet while playing like the Switchfoot selection on my ITunes does contain some great examples of why Switchfoot

buy in Wesley Owen and CLC . The CD is well produced and the songs are sure to find their way into churches across the planet as people get to know them

Great album with a great mix of old newsboys classics such as shine and entertaining angels, along with songs from their most recent albums as well. Really great DVD with the whole concert on it. Some of the older songs don’t quite match up to the originals, especially with Phil Joel having left, but they’re still great. Peter Furler’s testimony is really amazing(as is the usual drum-off between him and Duncan Phillips). Overall a great must get album! Score 4.5 out of 5 Reviewer Josh Cowpland Central Baptist Church

Compassionart Take 12 of the best Christian songwriters on the planet, put them in an idyllic setting, (in Scotland of course!) And get them writing in partnership for a week. What do you get? Well at the time 22 songs were written, 14 of which are currently available on the compassionate CD which you can

I could mention specific tracks but compassion art is about more than 14 songs, it’s about eradicating poverty, it’s about artists signing away their royalties It’s about... Jon Foreman Limbs and Branches ‘Limbs and Branches’ is the latest offering from Jon Foreman, lead singer of multi-platinum selling rock band ‘Switchfoot’. Excluding two new songs (“Broken from the Start” and “Over the River”), it represents a collection of hits from his critically acclaimed Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter albums released in November 2008. Soulful, honest and introspective, Foremans’ song writing goes

from strength to strength as he explores his own mortality, faith and growth. It comprises 12 tracks including ‘Cure for the pain’ which has been featured in the hit TV series ‘Grays Anatomy’. As a musician this album is moreish in a way normally reserved for ‘Ben & Jerrys’ and there are few who have survived a car trip with me without listening it. Right from the first track there is no doubt over his primary inspirationhis Christian faith. Although also drawing from personal experience, it is encouraging to see an artist writing Biblically based songs who is respected in both Christian and secular circles. All in all, a brilliant and inspiring collection of songs. So what are you waiting for... Score 5 out of 5 Reviewer Mark Ford Central Baptist Church

Highlights include the widely used Dare you to move, the early Learn to Breathe and the most recently released track, This is Home from the Prince Caspian soundtrack. The Best Yet whilst not offering us anything we haven’t heard before reminds us of why we love Switchfoot and should wet appetites for the much anticipated next major release expected sometime in the coming year.

Currently NCF’s activities include a number of prayer groups in different parts of Scotland, a quarterly magazine and prayer diary, an annual conference, an open meeting in the Autumn and from time to time other activities as seem appropriate. The annual conference is normally held over a weekend and is residential, although day visitors are welcome too! NCF co-operates with other Christian groups working with health professionals, and also responds to any government proposals likely to affect the nursing profession. Contact is also maintained with nurses serving overseas. Our Autumn meeting takes place on Saturday 15 November, with the AGM in the morning and Rev Andrew Graham, Spiritual Care Provider at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, speaking on ‘Conflict’ in the afternoon. 39

Dundee For Christ (D4C) is a leading UK Christian events & media company. Operating in the city of Dundee the ministry is now 5 years old & the pace at which God has been blessing this ministry for His Names sake has been remarkable! Detailed here is a key fact sheet with a brief resume of who D4C are; what D4C have achieved; what D4C hope to achieve in the future as we seek to win this City for Jesus!

What is Dundee For Christ?

40

What has Dundee For Christ achieved? D4C began with a poster campaign in 2003 with the purpose of making people think of the meaning of Easter. In 2004 a new poster campaign was launched promoting our first evangelistic event on Easter Sunday at the Caird Hall entitled Resurrection Day where 2000 people came to celebrate the Easter message.

In 2006 we held a week-long visit from evangelist Tony Anthony, subject of the Christian award winning book Taming The Tiger; a praise night in Abertay University entitled ‘Sing Like The Saved’ and a ‘craicing’ ceilidh entitled ‘The Reel Fling’! Resurrection Day 07 attracted worshippers from more than 30 churches across the City. Singer/ songwriter Graham Kendrick led an amazing praise service in Caird Hall to 850 people! In November 07 Tre Sheppard, evangelist and singer with band One Hundred Hours spoke at Central Baptist Church at Sing Like The Saved event and we also have another Reel Fling ceilidh at the larger venue of Dundee University Bonar Hall. The world famous Watoto Children’s Choir sang to capacity audiences at Christmas 07 and made the regional television news!

Perhaps the hi-light of 2007 was when we secured the International super-group Delirious? in November 07! What a night! Resurrection Day 08 with George Verwer was held on Easter Sunday at the Caird Hall In Dundee with almost 2000 people attending! It was the largest Easter Celebration in Scotland in 2008! We believe events such as Resurrection Day have been an important tool in promoting interchurch unity.

What has Dundee For Christ done for local churches and ministries? D4C work hard on behalf of the church & ministries promoting events via our website, monthly e-newsletters & weekly e-bulletins. We encourage local churches and ministries to contribute to our new magazine Broadcast, Scotland’s premier church magazine for the church in Dundee. Broadcast has a print run of 5000 and is mailed to each of our 1250 supporters plus is distributed to the 100+ churches & Christian ministries in the City & hits other venues across Dundee such as Borders, the Tourist Office, City Council libraries and more! ‘Broadcast brings the good news

I feel excited when local people are so passionate about the spiritual and social welfare of their community that it spills out in ideas such as Dundee Fort Christ, where the goal is to add a fourth J for Jesus! I urge you to support and participate in this incredible ministry!” Tony Anthony, International Evangelist and Best Selling Author

Manifesto

Manifesto is a very timely book for the Scottish church. It grapples with current issues of culture, postmodernity, and what authentic Christianity could, should, and must look like within our context. stressing that radical discipleship is an ongoing journey of learning, action, and repentance. Above all else, what shines through the pages of this book is Olu’s hunger for Jesus and the fullness of his Kingdom. In his closing lines, he writes, “the revolution that we need is a revolution of loving and obeying Jesus without reserve. If I could sum up my manifesto in a sentence, it would be something like this: I want to love Jesus so much that I obey his every word.” To buy a book or get more information about the book and its author visit www.themanifesto.org.
