Re-sit IGCSE or Level 1 and 2 Functional Skills English

If you gained a grade 3 at IGCSE English or English Language you will have the opportunity to retake those exams in either November or June of the Lower Sixth. You could also attempt the Level 2 Functional Skills English course which is similar to GCSE but without any written controlled assessments. How is the course structured and graded? You will be entered for the appropriate papers as and when we feel you will be most likely to pass them. This might be as early as November of the Lower Sixth. or as late as June of the Upper Sixth. The aim is to equip you with all the reading and writing skills you need to obtain a Level 2 Functional Skills qualification in English before you leave Bredon School. Will this course be suitable for me? If you almost achieved a Grade 4 (C) in Year 11 then you are strongly encouraged to re-sit your IGCSE examination in the Lower Sixth. What could this course lead to? Many Level 3 courses and jobs require applicants to have a Level 2 English qualification, so this course is essential if you narrowly missed grade C first time around.
