Course levels
With a choice of 11 A Levels, 16 BTEC Level 3, Professional Cisco and Extended Project qualifications, we offer a broad range of qualifications. As a small school, offering such a wide range of provision means we are able to provide option choices around your strengths, interests and ambitions.
Our Sixth Form provision provides personal development opportunities outside of the classroom that will help you progress to the University or career that meets your aspirations.
Level 3 courses include AS and A2 Levels (known as A Levels), OCR Level 3 qualifications and BTEC Level 3 qualifications. They are first studied in the Lower and Upper Sixth. To do a Level 3 qualification, you will normally have studied that subject at Level 2, but it isn’t always necessary.
Level 2 courses include GCSEs (grades 9-1 or A*-C), OCR Level 2 qualifications and BTEC Level 2 qualifications. They are first studied in Years 10 and 11.
Entry Level and Level 1 courses are designed for pupils who are not yet ready to take GCSEs in a particular subject area. These courses are all seen as a start of the pathway towards GCSE and Level 2 qualifications.
If you are at all unsure which level is suitable for you, you should discuss this with the Deputy Head Academic in the first instance. We will make a recommendation of which level to consider and give further guidance on suitable courses.
It is also possible to retake GCSE Maths or English if required.
