Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (Level 3-4)

Course Contact: Mr Neethling Assessment: Examination only Progression: Ideal for Apprenticeship and Further Education

“Cisco is amazing. I have learned more than ever before. There is no write up course work; it is all about what you know.” Sixth Form pupil

The course consists of three units, each with 12 to 16 chapters. Pupils complete all three units over the two-year Sixth Form period. Each unit offers a separate certification. After successful completion of all three units pupils then sit the external Cisco CCNA Industry Certification exam through Pearson Vue. The course material is a mixture of theoretical and practical work. Pupils must gain 70% for both practical and theory final exams to gain a pass certification. Within the CCNA course, pupils will learn how to create, configure and secure wireless and wired networks. They will be working with equipment such as switches, routers and Multi-layer switches. The CCNA Certification is internationally recognised. Will this course be suitable for me? If you are interested in computers and networking then this course will be suitable. The course is very much ‘full on’ and occupies two option blocks. Pupils will thus have 10 periods per week. There are no prerequisites for this course other than being prepared to work very hard. What could this course lead to? The main focus is to help pupils gain proper apprenticeships in the IT Sector. There are also various options should pupils wish to continue with their studies at a higher education facility.
