Course Contact: Mrs Saunders Assessment: 100% Exam Progression: Obtain UCAS points A Level Biology has been developed so that the subject content is relevant to the real world, this makes it engaging for pupils at the same time as making its content useful and relevant as a stepping stone for future Higher Education courses.

The content of the course is designed to support and inspire pupils and aims to develop a genuine passion for biology. You will study a broad range of topics including both plant and animal biology. Although this course is assessed by examinations it is also a practical course where pupils can learn new practical techniques and develop their practical skills. How is the course structured and graded? Year 1 (AS Level) Two 90 minute exams of equal weighting, including short and extended questions and including detail on Required Practicals carried out during the course. Year 2 (A Level) Three 90 minute exams of equal weighting, including short and extended questions and including detail on Required Practicals carried out during the course. Practical Endorsement Pupils will carry out 12 Required Practicals throughout the two year course. These will be assessed by their teacher and if requirements are met the student will receive a Practical Endorsement certificate which is recognised by universities and employers. What could this course lead to? This well respected A Level course can lead to a diverse range of careers as well as gaining UCAS points for further study at university. The practical skills gained in this course are respected by employers from a diverse range of industries including Medicine and Healthcare, Agriculture, Sport and Fitness and Engineering.
