A Level OCR

Qualification Overview

Pupils who have an interest in Photography and wish to develop their photography skills will find this the ideal course. A Level Photography develops camera skills, photographic composition skills and production techniques. The course also teaches the origins of photography and the changes throughout history. Holding Art & Design GCSE is an advantage.

This course will be of particular interest to those intending to present a portfolio at interview for work in the art and design field, or for entry onto an Art College Foundation course, Higher BTEC course in Art and Design or a creative career.

Approach to Learning

Pupils will develop their photographic skills to the next level. The A Level course allows for continuation of bespoke projects showcasing individual skills and interests.

Each unit of the course encourages experimenting and developing these ideas in different ways.

A Closer Look:

The AS Level requires two projects, one to be completed in an exam. The full A Level includes a coursework project, a personal study (including essay), and an exam.

Each unit requires a different focus and theme, challenging pupils to experiment and develop as a Photographer further. Projects will take the form of sketchbooks showing evidence for the four assessment objectives.
