Semester 8: Weiterbauen Professor: Mechthild Stuhlmacher Technische Universität Berlin Rhino, Autocad, Illustrator, Enscape, Photoshop
In collaboration with Carmen Jorge, Mariia Liashchenko, and Manmeet Singh Obhan, we worked on the project to transform the old Baroque barn of Hofgestüt Bleesern into a functional summer cultural center. Our studio, named ”Weiterbauen” (meaning ”building on” in English), embodied the project’s core theme.

The original barn presented challenges due to its size and deteriorated roof. Our main aim was to introduce a new roof structure to create an open layout while preserving the old structure’s character. In the section with an intact roof, we added a second level to maximize space, offering a fresh perspective on the barn’s original features and improving circulation.

This transformation was a substantial effort, but it was gratifying to work on such a historically significant building. Our goal was to create a modest and respectful summer cultural center, blending the past with the present through architectural preservation.
