Raashi Design, LLC: Creating beautiful, functional interior spaces By Kara Navolio

Sheeja and family on a recent visit to New York

heeja Nair enjoys being able to combine her problem solving skills, learned in her previous careers of physics and engineering, with her interest in art and design by creating beautiful and functional interiors. Although, Nair has been designing for 18 years now, building her own custom home with her husband in 2012 totally changed her life and inspired her to start her own business, Raashi Design, LLC. “I love the fact that I can combine my creativity and scientific knowledge to make a change in people’s lives,” states Nair. Raashi Design has helped many in the Blackhawk neighborhood, around the Bay Area, and also in India, from one room projects to entire home remodels. While paying special attention to the client’s lifestyle and tastes, Nair’s goal is to give them beautiful, functional spaces and great customer service. Happy customers are the best reward, but she’s also proud of being named Best of Houzz for customer service six years in a row and the Leading Designer’s Award by Lux Life magazine for the past two years. The mom of two teenage sons enjoys trying new things, travel, time with family and friends, hiking and dancing. Inspiration for her designs can come from so many places – nature, buildings, architecture, art or even a piece of fabric. The philosophy of Raashi Design is based on Nair’s belief that you need an inspiring environment to be happy and do your best. “I have always like organized, functionally complete, lifestyle oriented, beautiful spaces where I can be myself and concentrate on the more important things in life. I want to do that for my clients – achieving a wonderful result while making it enjoyable and exciting,” adds Nair. “Blackhawk is a beautiful community, and it would be my pleasure to serve the homeowners there… If you have some crazy ideas about your home design, I would love to hear it as I believe anything is possible and if that vision reflects your personality, I would say go for it.” 22
