Course of Study - Advanced Curriculum Levels • Honors – Honors courses are offered in all core academic areas. Selection for placement in honors level classes utilizes standardized test scores, teacher recommendation, and previous academic performance. • Advanced Placement – Advanced Placement courses offer students the opportunity to do college-level studies in the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades. Upon completion of the AP course, students are required to take the nationally administered examination in May. (Due to Covid-19, testing was optional in 2020.) As a result of their performance on the examination, they may receive college credit hours for each examination taken. This enables a student who is successful on the exam(s) and in the course(s) to enter college at a level beyond that of a beginning freshman. Entrance into an AP course requires the recommendation of the subject teacher. Currently, Advanced Placement is offered in: Art, Biology, Calculus, English, French, Government, Physics, Psychology, Spanish, Statistics, US History, and World History. • College Courses/CCP – College Credit Plus is an approved program by the Ohio Legislature whereby students can earn high school and college credit(s) while at Fenwick. A minimum of three college hours will translate to one high school credit. Currently, six CCP courses are offered at Fenwick in Anthropology, Composition, Chemistry as well as an Introduction to Education class.
