Your Learning Environment

We have dedicated indoor and outdoor Animal Units, which house a huge range of species to give you the best hands-on learning experience. Species include porcupine, mongoose, racoon dogs, primates, alpacas, marsupials, invertebrates, tropical and marine fish, reptiles and rodents. You will also have access to our specialist laboratories, dedicated dog training area, commercial dog kennels and grooming facilities, commercial sheep and beef enterprises and equine yard. Your studies will be enhanced with visits from external speakers and field trips. Our students have visited everywhere from Donna Nook Nature Reserve to ARTIS, Amsterdam’s Royal Zoo.

In collaboration with the Karen Pryor Academy (KPA), UCBB incorporates the Dog Trainer Foundations (KPA) online course into its degree programmes. Our BSc Applied Animal Behaviour and Training programme has also been formally recognised by the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) Programme Recognition Committee as delivering the academic elements necessary for an individual to achieve ABTC recognition as an Animal Training Instructor.
