The Equine department at UCBB is home to some of the finest equestrian facilities in the UK, making it the ideal location for you to take the next step in your career.

Our lecturers and instructors are experts in their field, with many working alongside their academic responsibility in sectors such as veterinary physiotherapy. By studying an Equine degree with us, you will have the opportunity to take part in research projects and learn essential theory that you can then put into practice, with case studies, live projects and event management opportunities.

Your Learning Environment

Bishop Burton Equine Centre offers an outstanding range of equestrian facilities, including multiple indoor and outdoor arenas, equine therapy and rehabilitation centre, rider performance and fitness suite, hacking track and cross-country course. We also have an array of stables on campus, with livery options so that you can bring your horse with you. The stables are also home to our horses, which you will work with as part of your studies. Our Equine Centre hosts an extensive range of competitions, demonstrations and clinics, and is a BHS training and examination centre. As an Equine student at UCBB, you’ll receive free BHS training and subsidised exam fees. What’s more, other facilities such as our laboratories are fully equipped to ensure your research is as successful as it can be. You will have access to specialist equipment including Quintic Gait Analysis software, FLIR Thermal Imaging cameras, Polar Heart Monitors, Televet ECG, Synchronicity Rein Tension Gauges and Noldus Observe XP software. As well as having the opportunity to gain work experience at other venues, workbased learning modules and volunteering opportunities at Bishop Burton Equine Centre will allow you to learn at a vast range of local, national and international competitions, clinics and demonstrations.
