Whether your passion is agronomy or ecology, you’ll feel at home at UCBB.
Land-based learning is where we have our roots, and our lecturers are passionate about making sure that you develop the knowledge and skills you’ll need within the industry. With environmental issues increasingly in focus, the demand for those with knowledge of sustainable farming methods, ecology and wildlife conservation, is ever increasing. As part of the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology, studying at UCBB will give you access to the latest agricultural precision technologies and farming solutions. You will apply theory into practice on Bishop Burton’s commercial farm, playing an essential role to meet our ambitious target to become carbon net-zero by 2030.

Your Learning Environment
UCBB has extensive facilities, including over 350 hectares of arable, grassland, woodland and conservation areas.
Agriculture students
will take their skills to the next level, learning at our Centre for Precision Agriculture. You will have full access to the farm, which includes stabiliser cattle and a sheep herd. A brand new pig breeding unit is also in development, in collaboration with White Rose Farms, which will provide state-of-the-art high welfare freedom farrowing houses.
Environmental and Conservation students
will truly embrace the subject as they will work on our historic parkland and support with our woodland management strategy. Whichever programme you choose, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved with research, working with a breadth of facilities including our laboratories, which have been tailored to meet the needs of the land-based industries. From checking out habitats in the Yorkshire Moors to learning from Rotterdam’s Floating Farm, UCBB offers a range of study trips to further your knowledge.
