WJTA Training & Certification Program Update - Q3 2025

Updated August 6, 2025

Training Program Growth

* through July 16, 2025

Program Updates

New Verified Trainer online portal at www.WJTA.org is live now. All VTs will be able to login and access upto-date slidedecks and program materials, news and updates, and much more. If you have an issue with your login or access to the portal, reach out to the WJTA office at wjta@wjta.org.

A new Verified Trainer annual refresher course is available now through the Health and Safety Council. The annual refresher is a brief, 15- to 30-minute eLearning course (19HBVT) that will reinforce program policies and processes and communicate any updates. The WJTA Hydroblast Trainer Annual Refresher Training (19HBVT) course must be completed annually by all Verified Trainers.

New Master Trainer requirement – all Master Trainers (MTs) must help instruct at least one (1) open WJTA train-the-trainer course every 24 months. Participating in a communal course will help align train-thetrainer delivery between MTs in different organizations and help the WJTA meet the growing demand for new Verified Trainers. MTs will be representing the WJTA when delivering these communal courses, not their respective employers. Reach out to Peter Wright with questions or to schedule a time to participate –wrightp@wjta.org.

Hydroblast Foundational Training is now available in Spanish. Access the new 19HBFTS eLearning course through the HASC course catalog.

Project Updates

Instructor-led/hands-on vacuum Field Verification for liquid vacuums and air machines is in progress. When the curriculum has been finalized a launch date will be announced.

The WJTA Orange Book is currently being reviewed and a new revision is expected in Fall 2025. After the new Orange Book has been published, training curricula/requirements including Hydroblast Foundational Training (19HBFT), Field Verification (19HBFV), Trainer Annual Refresher (19HBVT) and Verified Training Site (VTS) requirements will be updated to align with the new edition.

Hydroblast Field Verification (19HBFV) classroom curriculum is being expanded to include vessel cleaning with 2D and 3D nozzles. Updates will be communicated to VTs when available. The addition will not affect hands-on skills verification, and is not expected to significantly affect the duration of the 19HBFV course.

FAQs

A snapshot of some commonly asked questions:

I’ve completed a Verified Trainer course, what is the next step to becoming a Master Trainer?

To be considered for the Master Trainer, individuals must complete and document five (5) Field Verification sessions. Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the industrial cleaning industry and one (1) year of overall training experience. Refer to the Master Trainer Application (available in the new Verified Trainer Resources portal at WJTA.org) for details and the application process, which includes submitting a CV and letter of reference.

I have a mobile training unit. Do I have to complete a separate Verified Training Site (VTS) application for each unique location where I conduct training?

A VTS application must be submitted for each location, but if all equipment has already been reviewed and approved, the VTS application will only need to ensure proper facilities and work area to safely carry out hydroblast training. Reach out to Peter Wright with any questions or concerns.

Recent Training & Certification Program Activity
