Everyone is free to come and go as they please. During drop-ins, there are always things going on such as street hockey, skate sessions, BBQs, movies, gaming, and lots of goofing around! Ultimately, you’re sure to find someone and something that fits with where you’re at. The centre is open every Thursday (4:00 - 7:00pm), Friday (4pm – 9:30pm) and Saturday (6-9:30pm) and all youth are welcome to hang out. We have a ping pong table, air-hockey, wifi, as well as a 60” flatscreen TV, which makes for great movie watching and multi-player gaming. There are concession snacks for sale. If youth have a band or would like to jam with other youth musicians, they can come down to use the youth centre space to practice or just jam. We have guitars, amps, a drum kit, piano, organ and a PA. Saturdays are pizza night. We also offer out-trips, and open gym time during the nasty weather months.. A fully functional mobile skateboard park in the car park of the youth centre was added in the summer of 2011. It is open the same hours as the centre. We host a SK8 Day once a month at Firehall #2, where youth can shred the gear on super smooth pavement. If youth turn up and want to make something new happen, there are always friendly, fun-loving Youth Workers on hand to help spontaneously facilitate activities and offer quality advice. Should any youth need to check in on a more personal or private level, they are welcome to talk with John Stiver, the Youth Services Coordinator We have an exciting new series of talks coming in the fall as part of our Leaders in Training Program.Youth in grade 11 and 12 will have the opportunity to learn about careers and career paths from some of the fascinating people that we have on Bowen. LEADERS IN TRAINING We would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to our Leaders in Training 2015. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing group of Youth Leaders in our community. Each of them committed to one or two weeks to volunteering in our daycamp programs this summer. We hope you had fun and learned a lot during your volunteer experience. We look forward to working with them in the future.

Thank you to First Credit Union for their sponsorship and support of this Youth Leadership program.

Hey‌ Youth of Bowen! Would you like the chance to have your voice heard? Would you like to learn how to help to raise funds through the grant writing process, and then decide what the funds will be used for? This is your chance to be a part of a new youth group on Bowen. Starting this fall, the Bowen Island Community Foundation, in partnership with the Bowen Youth Centre and BICS, is offering youth the opportunity to join an exciting new program. Participants will form a youth committee, which will raise funds and then decide where these funds will be directed. This is a youth-led program. There will be mentors available for advice, but it is a chance for you, the Bowen Youth, to decide on your priorities and initiate the programs and activities that you would like to see! For more information please contact John Stiver: 604-240-3467 jstiver@bimbc.ca

SALSA FOR BEGINNERS (Ages 16+) Do you desire to let your hair down when you hear Latin music? Do your hips overtake your mind and start swaying when you hear a melodic beat? Salsa is the dance for you! This easy Latin dance is a great start for anyone who wants to learn partner dancing. You will learn the basic rhythm pattern, great connection and dance communication and many fun moves in the first 4 week session. The 2nd session will move beyond the basics, upping the ante to fancier variations and extra style. All you need to do is breathe and it will be fun! No partner required.
