It can be tough to carry over regular season success into the playoffs, but James F. Byrnes made it look easy on Friday. They dominated the Lexington Wildcats, cruising to a 32-11 victory. Though the game was close at halftime, but the Rebels came alive in the second half, putting up 19 points to seal the win. Zy Landrum was outstanding, rushing for 46 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 158 yards and another touchdown.
The defense was also a key factor, with the Rebels putting relentless pressure on Lexington’s offense. They racked up four sacks, with Shayne Dixon and Jaidyn Ferguson combining for all of them. Dixon has been a standout all season, consistently recording at least five tackles in every game. Byrnes is hitting their stride, averaging 124.8 rushing yards in those victories compared to just 124.8 in their other matchups.
