REBEL TOUCHDOWN CLUB

The Rebel Touchdown club, established in 2002, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is committed to supporting the football and competitive cheer programs at Byrnes High School. The purpose of Byrnes High School Rebel Touchdown Club is to actively support and enrich the programs by providing volunteers, materials and financial resources not fully covered by the school’s budget. The Club partners with school administrators and coaches to promote the best interest of the athletes and to foster a sense of school and community pride through premier athletic programs. The board is comprised of volunteers within the Byrnes community that donate their time and talent to enhance the football and competitive cheer programs.

2024

Byrnes High School

Location: Duncan, SC Nickname: Rebels

Colors: Royal Blue, Grey Region: 2-5A

Head coach: Reggie Shaw

2023 Record: 10 - 2 (5 - 0 Region II Champions).

Defeated by Hillcrest in Rd. 2 of the 5A playoffs.

Current Record: 3 - 4; 3 - 1

Last Game: Defeated Eastside 28 - 9

Worth noting:

- Byrnes has won 11 State Championships (‘76, ‘82, ‘86, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’05, ’07, ’08, ’10, ’11).

- 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the 2004 4A State Championship team.

- Due to construction of a new football field, the Rebels are on the road for every game this season.

History with Eastside

- In their first meeting, the Rebels defeated the Vikings 19-0 in 1961. Led by HC Joe Hazel, Byrnes finished the season the ’61 season with a 6-4-1.

- Byrnes largest margin of victory over the Vikings occurred in 2007, winning 63-9. The Rebels were led Chris Miller and finished the season with a 15-0 record (4A Div. 1 State Champions).

Continuing a tradition of Excellence

- Jaidyn Ferguson was selected to be on the 2024 North South All-Star Team. Ferguson is the 77th Rebel to take part in the annual game.

- Last week, the Rebels defeated Eastside 28 - 7. This week will be another challenge. Between the Rebels and Vikings, teams have allowed few points on average, (Spartanburg: 12.5, James F. Byrnes: 14.1) so any points scored will be well earned.

- One reason for the win last week was Torrian Mills. He is becoming a predictor of the Rebels’ success: when he posts at least two sacks the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
