REBEL TOUCHDOWN CLUB

The Rebel Touchdown club, established in 2002, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is committed to supporting the football and competitive cheer programs at Byrnes High School. The purpose of Byrnes High School Rebel Touchdown Club is to actively support and enrich the programs by providing volunteers, materials and financial resources not fully covered by the school’s budget. The Club partners with school administrators and coaches to promote the best interest of the athletes and to foster a sense of school and community pride through premier athletic programs. The board is comprised of volunteers within the Byrnes community that donate their time and talent to enhance the football and competitive cheer programs.

Defeated by Hillcrest in Rd. 2 of the 5A playoffs.

Last Game: Defeated by Spartanburg 58 - 14

Worth noting:

- Byrnes has won 11 State Championships (‘76, ‘82, ‘86, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’05, ’07, ’08, ’10, ’11).

- 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the 2004 4A State Championship team.

- Due to construction of a new football field, the Rebels are on the road for every game this season. History with Boiling Springs

- Byrnes faced Boiling Springs for the first time during the Rebels’ inaugural season (1955). Led by HC Charles Burnett, the Rebels defeated Boiling Springs 31-6, finished the season with 6-3-2 record, won the District 11 1-A Region Championship, and made it to the 1-A upper state title game.

- Byrnes has faced Boiling Springs 43 times. The only other opponents to face the Rebels more are Dorman (67), Greer (63), and Spartanburg (61).

Continuing a tradition of Excellence

- Jaidyn Ferguson was selected to be on the 2024 North South All-Star Team. Ferguson is the 77th Rebel to take part in the annual game.

- The Rebels are currently 3rd in Region II. The winner of tonight’s game will have an impact on playoff seeding.

Worth noting:

- The Bulldogs first victory over Byrnes occurred in 1996 by a final score of 28-12. Led by Mac Bryan, the Bulldogs finished the 1996 season with a 8 - 5 record and made it to the 2nd round of the 4A Div. 2 playoffs.

- Boiling Springs has become more competitive in recent years, but their only victories over Byrnes has been during seasons that the Rebels have had losing records (96, ‘99, 2016).

- Boiling Springs made history in 2016 by wining their second region championship and making their first appearance in a state championship game.

- Lincoln Huskey (QB) and Kyle Patterson (QB) was selected to be on the 2024 North South All-Star Team.

Reggie Shaw

2024 season marks the 69th season of Rebel Football, and the 8th season under the helm of Coach Shaw. In January of 2017, was named head coach and since that time, the Rebels have remained a top power in South Carolina. For 2024, Shaw has remained stoic while guiding a team that graduated mounds of talent in the off season, and a team that will play all of their games on the road.

A man of faith, Shaw has consistently helped shape and the football team. Not only on the field, but in the classroom. Shaw is currently the 5th winningest coach in Byrnes football history, in addition to fielding state contenders every season, he has also overseen some of the highest team GPAs in team history.
