Worth noting:
- Byrnes has won 11 State Championships (‘76, ‘82, ‘86, ’02, ’03, ’04, ’05, ’07, ’08, ’10, ’11).
- 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the 2004 4A State Championship team.
- Due to construction of a new football field, the Rebels are on the road for every game this season.
History with Eastside
- Led by HC Bo Corne (1977-86), Byrnes first game against the Eagles was a 38-13 victory in 1978. The Rebels went on to finish the 1978 season with a 6-4 record.
- Until 2009, the most points ever scored in a game by the Rebels was the 2004 Eastside game (74 - 7).
Youth on the Rise
- Despite the 15-9 double OT loss last week, the Rebels showed tremendous growth last week and look to build on the momentum as 2024 moves along.

Current Record: 3 - 2; 0 - 2 Last Game: Defeated by Riverside 33 - 8
- Gaffney has won one 4A football state title (1977).
- Until the 2014 season, Eastside was the only team in Greenville County to win a 4A State Championship
- The Eagles defeated the Rebels for the first time 1979, winning 7-0. Led by longtime Eastside head coach, John Carlisle, the Eagles finished the 1979 season with an 8-3 record and an appearance 4A playoffs.
- Dr. Andre Woolcock has been the head coach since 2019. Woolcock has compiled a 23-32 record at Eastside. Previously he was the head coach at Ninety-Six High School.
- 2024 is Eastside’s first season competing in 5A.
Reggie Shaw
2024 season marks the 69th season of Rebel Football, and the 8th season under the helm of Coach Shaw. In January of 2017, was named head coach and since that time, the Rebels have remained a top power in South Carolina. For 2024, Shaw has remained stoic while guiding a team that graduated mounds of talent in the off
and a team that will play all of their games on the road.
A man of faith, Shaw has consistently helped shape and the football team. Not only on the field, but in the classroom. Shaw is currently the 5th winningest coach in Byrnes football history, in addition to fielding state contenders every season, he has also overseen some of the highest team GPAs in team history.
