Jester Estates is a popular Austin neighborhood north of the Colorado River that features large homes of various designs and price ranges. The Hill Country land was formerly owned by Beauford H. Jester, a veteran of WWI and the 36th governor of Texas.

Beauford Drive and Jester Boulevard are the two main entrances to the neighborhood. It borders the Balcones Plateau in the West Bull Creek Preserve which protects endangered-species habitats.

Construction in Jester Estates began in 1983 and has continued to develop through 2002. Approximately 1000 homes were built on a series of cul-de-sacs in Jester Estates featuring many homes on private lots backing to the greenbelt.

Only about 10 miles from downtown, residents have plenty of amenities within easy reach including Great Hills Country Club, a member-owned country club. Two public courses are in proximity are Hancock Golf Course which features a 9-hole course or Lions Muncipal featuring the traditional 18hole course.

A highly desirable area in southwest Austin is Legend Oaks located along Escarpment Boulevard between William Cannon and Davis Lane. Easy access to Hwy 290 and Loop 1 makes a trip downtown just 10 minutes. Legend Oaks was developed between 1988 and 1999 with natural beauty preserved. Within the heart of Legend Oaks lies Mills Elementary School, where many students walk to school. Other parts of Legend Oaks attend Patton Elementary. Middle schools that serve the area include Gorzycki Middle School and Small Middle School, with all students moving on to Bowie High School.
