by Belt Drive Betty I had the pleasure of attending the Motorcycle & Powersports Expo at the Prairieland in Saskatoon April 12 & 13th.

I was staying with my girlfriend Ani Reid who came and picked me up, thank goodness for good friends! Ani and I spent some time catching up on each other’s news and headed to bed around 2:30 am. We were up and at it early on Saturday, as we had to go to Budget to get my rental car and find out why no one was there at the airport Kiosk the night before – policy is that the agents are not allowed to leave until the last flight of the day has landed. We arrived back at the airport where I attempted to get my car and some answers, let’s just say that it didn’t go too well and I ended up leaving the airport as one very PO’d customer.
I used some Air Miles and flew in at midnight on Friday/Saturday morning. I had booked a rental car with Budget, only their Kiosk was closed when my flight landed.

We went to the head office where I chatted with the owner who was absolutely appalled by what happened. With my rental car secured along with apologies and a huge discount, we were off to see the newly re-vamped Saskatoon Motorcycle & Powersports Expo and the Tattoo Show. I was pleasantly surprised by what I walked into.

In the past, under the name Cyclemania, the event had a bit of a “rough” edge around it. It was a good show to attend but there were a lot of booths that weren’t as family friendly as others were. This year the show was completely re-laid out and utilized the space better than ever before.

I wasn’t here to be a vendor, I was here to film for TV and do this story on the show.
Having been an event coordinator myself, and having taken a number of marketing courses, I tend to look at events with a critical eye, I look for the natural paths of traffic flow, bottle necks and just generally pick things apart, looking for ways to improve things. It’s a habit I have never gotten out of. Out of all of the shows hosted by R & L Motorcycles and the HAMC, this one was the best laid out.
I got to do a lot of walking around and talking to people and that allowed me to really give this show the critical go over.

The Saskatoon Motorcycle & Powersports Expo reps about, everything from Triumph to Harley was on hand. In fact the only brand that I do not recall being on hand was Honda. There were also a good number of custom bikes on hand to drool over and get ideas from and there was a great line up of toy haulers for every budget and need.
A number of the riding clubs were on hand with booths, but not as many as in years past.
Those RC’s who didn’t attend missed one of the better-trafficked shows in years. The food and beverage area was full a good portion of the day as were the aisles! It seemed that in spite of Mother Nature’s cruel sense of humour, people were ready to get out of their houses and truly start looking towards spring and summer activities.

I got to meet a talented Calgary Tattooist named Doug Fink from Bushido Tattoo who was doing Tabori Tattooing, a traditional Japanese method of tattooing on a client. I was fascinated watching him push the ink into the skin.

I interviewed Rhonda from R.A.G.E . and we discussed just how far this group has come since its inception last year. The results are pretty impressive but as Rhonda expressed, there will always be a need for a watchdog/lobbying type of organization that can help the masses mobilize and protect their pocket books and impact government.

The Saskatoon Motorcycle & Powersports Expo I interviewed Kevin Jones from the North Battleford Canadian Legion of Riders, they are sure some thrilled about their Johnny Pag Motorcycle win last fall and the ticket sales for the bike raffle are going very well indeed! I also learned that Redline Harley-Davidson has purchased Harley-Davidson of Yorkton and that Rick Dawson is retiring!
It was wonderful to catch up and visit with so many good people that I am lucky to see once a year. All in all I have to say that it was a great show. I would have liked to have seen a fashion show again or some kind of action attraction, but I am sure impressed with the changes to the show. It bodes well for the future! I want to thank Ani for her hospitality and friendship, Don and the volunteers who put on the show and all of the vendors who came out and gave all of us winter weary people something to look forward to.

May is Motorcycle Awareness Month! 23rd Annual BCCOM MLA Ride, May 1, 2014
As the big kickoff to promote May as Motorcycle Awareness Month, on Thursday, May 1, 2014, the British Columbia Coalition of Motorcyclists (BCCOM) is presenting the 23rd Annual MLA Ride. The MLA Ride is a motorcycle ride to the Legislature Buildings in Victoria to bring MLA’s and their constituents together to discuss various issues relating to motorcycle safety, education and awareness. The ride leaves at 9:00 am from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, meets up with the island riders at Mayfair Mall on Blanshard Street in Victoria at 11:00 am and then proceeds to the Legislature Buildings to take the MLA’s for a ride on their lunch hour and let them experience firsthand the thrill of motorcycling. The B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists is a professional lobbying organization that works on
behalf of all motorcyclists in the province of BC and has been instrumental in promoting motorcycle safety, education and awareness. The Coalition is a membership driven organization that relies solely on membership support to maintain a strong voice for the motorcycling community.
Some of the accomplishments of the B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists include getting motorcycles included in HOV lane usage, assured loading on BC Ferries, designated motorcycle parking within various municipalities, getting May proclaimed as motorcycle awareness month. From the Depths of File 13 - Riding Season (AKA my two bits worth by Belt Drive Betty) Riding season is slowly starting across this country and most of the USA. And, as an editor, I can sure tell too. The news feeds are filled with crash articles, many of them resulting in death.
In crash after crash we are hearing about riders rear ending other vehicles, loosing control in curves (probably as a result of gravel and sand in the curves - or potholes) and excessive speed crashes.
You were born as an original. Don’t die as a copy.
On the weekend in Calgary a young man died when he was out test riding his buddy’s new bike. Reportedly speed was a factor. And sadly his family and loved ones have a funeral to prepare for.

From the Depths of File 13 read an article from Texas this morning where people in Dallas were being Tweeted by the police there that some 40 riders had shut down the freeway and were doing stunts. Now I know I am not going to be popular among some of the riding community for what I am about to say, but it’s the elephant in the room and it needs to be addressed. WHAT IN THE HE Double Hockey Sticks are these riders thinking? We have motorcycle only noise bylaws, the clubbers and their relationship with the police that tar the rest of us and we have inconsiderate boobs like those in Dallas seeing how many people they can piss off. It makes me wonder what these riders are thinking, or if they think at all. TAKE IT TO THE TRACK you selfish boobs. When you see an unsafe rider - what do you do? Do you shake your head and think;”Natural Selection”?
Do you ignore the rider and go about your business?
I love to ride, I love this community and I mourn every time a rider goes down, their fault or not.
Do you call the authorities?
I don’t love attending funerals and I don’t love an elevated police presence that we face so often because of the adrenaline junky or the attention seeker.
When you are on a Poker Run, or at a rally and a guy/gal has too much to drink and tries to get on their scoot, what do you do? Ignore them?

Try to take their keys away? Try to change their mind? If you have a rider on a run who is riding erratically, what do you do? WE need to police ourselves. We need to watch our throttles, be respectful in town and be hyper aware of our surroundings. As a rider, an individual, its up to you to decide what risk level you are comfortable with and that includes the people you ride with. I have, on more than one occasion left a group to ride on my own because I did not like the way things are going... how about you?

From the Depths of File 13 Everyday during this riding season I want to ask you to please, be that rider, the one who cares about their loved ones, their friends...be that rider who is considerate of others around you, and when you encounter someone who is not a safe rider, do SOMETHING. Either talk to that rider if they are approachable, or if the offence is serious enough, I hate to say this REPORT THEM.

David Pocock - Gaming and Safe Riding We, as a community, will talk endlessly about our bikes and how we keep then running and or improve the way they handle / run / perform . . . but how often do we do the same for ourselves? How often, as we go on this or that run, do we really look at what we do for ourselves? Think about it, do we always by David Pocock make sure we get enough sleep before we head out on a long ride to, or from a given event? Do we make sure we eat enough to balance out against the rigours of the ride, do we take in enough fluids (not beer / whiskey / wine)? Many of us are now, I’m sorry to point it out, no longer under 30 or even 40 and all of this will and does take it’s toll.
Remember mom saying you need a good breakfast to get ahead at school? Never mind mom, look at all the school breakfast programs out there and the proof of the improved grades and lower attention and behavioural problems in those schools that have a breakfast and lunch program. Just maybe they are on to something here and just maybe we can take away the same thought, reasonably good food in reasonable quantities, will result in better performance. Remember too that overloading on food will make us a little slow for a
while so maybe plan for the time to have a good meal and use the interim time to take care of other maintenance like looking over the bike to make sure all the bits and pieces are where they should be and working like they should so that your ride will not be interrupted by a breakdown. Water or fluids, again something that often gets overlooked what with the excitement of the trip. Again, we, as riders actually are prone to loose more of our body moisture, while riding, than we

“Sleep is over rated.” Ya, ya, ya, we hear that so often but, think about it, how much sleep do you get on a regular work-week night? And now you’re going to go drive a machine that requires 110%, or more, attention for long stretches of time on little or no sleep. Let’s think on that for a minute. Now let’s think about what lack of sleep does to us when we are at work, we’re not as focussed, we might forget to do some minor task, or miss a step (minor though it might be) or we nod off for a short “eye rest break” at coffee time or over lunch. On a bike we do not have that luxury really now do we, especially if we’re on a challenging road like the “Kaslo - New Denver”, the “Twisty 6” or say “The Tail of the Dragon”? Food is fuel for us. Are you getting by on a quick coffee and a sweet roll to start the day or how about a fast food burger and shake or Pop for lunch? When you’re hungry you are NOT paying as much attention to what you need to be doing, we all know that.

Remember we’re out in the elements we’ve got LOTS of air moving past us drawing the moisture away from our bodies, yes even IF you are in full leathers. Now add dry air and heat, think of the food driers for preserving fruits and such, not too much different on a bike, in the summer. For those who ride in the mountains, though it may seem cooler and all, the lower atmospheric pressure contributes to higher
moisture loss. If you drink at least 2 litres of water at your regular job in a day double it. Something that will also help, mix Gatorade half and half with water , or put some sliced lemon or limes, or both, in your water bottle. There are now personal hydration systems (Camel-backs etc.) with rightangle bite valves that will fit under helmets.

Though I was only a wee lad back in the seventies I’ve always been into cars and bikes. It was a glorious time of funked out vans, chopped, slammed, stretched and covered in the longest shag carpet around. Bikes didn’t escape the madness. A stroll down memory lane of the creations of builds like Arlen Ness and others proved multi-engine, twisted and psychedelic paint jobs were where the edge of sanity no longer existed. But like all trends and fashions things come and go. Early this millennium brought back the return of the long drawn out choppers making
Today it seems we have flashed back to the swinging seventies. Vans are making a comeback and there seems to be a whole underground “hardcore” chopper faction of builders and riders chopping and bobbing everything and anything. They are donning greasy jeans and denim vests with wild greasy long beards. Those striving to be the next generation of master builders have thrown out the rule book. Everything is a go now with an overwhelming focus on personal hand built one off bikes. It will only be a matter of time before it is commercialized, sanitized and spit out for consumption but right now, today, is a Golden Era to be building bikes. Weird and eccentric is the normal now. We accept it as a culture not just in bikes but everything. The freak show tattoo lady of the past is now every college girl, if you don’t have at least some body modification you are now the freak in our Bizzaro World. So embrace your freak flag. Run what you want, run what you can. Bolt on that kitchen sink, road kill bones and mannequin legs because this window will only stay open for so long.

In 1985, Timothy Leier peered out of his hospital window watching a group of motorcyclists ride by. Timothy was suffering from Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Suddenly an idea struck him – wouldn’t it be great if bikers could raise money for CF? His sister, Lorna, took his idea and turned it into an annual event. Eight bikers planned and participated in that first run in 1985. Timothy never got the chance to see his dream come true, as he died after losing his fight with the disease. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common lifethreatening hereditary disease of children and young adults. CF occurs when the child inherits two genes with the condition, one from each parent. Approximately one in every 1800 children is born with CF in Canada and 1 in 20 Canadians carry the gene. Currently over 2,000 patients - children and adults - attend CF clinics in Canada. Once again thank-you for your support by helping us raise over $500,000 for CF research.

It’s only 48 miles north to south and 37 miles east to west, but the smallest state in the U.S. has a history that is more voluminous than that of Texas and Alaska combined. Roger Williams founded Providence Plantations and established the first working democracy in 1636 after being banished from the Puritan colony of Plymouth for his “extreme” religious by Ken Aiken views. As a goldsmith I kenaiken@gmail.com had traveled to the jewelry manufacturing centers of Warwick and Providence numerous times, but this would be my first tour of Newport.
Slater Stone Mill: Slater’s stone mill has been converted into condos.
My first stop is only a mile-and-a-half south of the Massachusetts border in Slaterville, the factory mill town created by John and Samuel Slater in 1803-07. By memorizing the secrets of English cotton mills and immigrating to Rhode Island, Samuel created the first successful industrial weaving factory in the United States. The original mill was established in Pawtucket in 1793 (Slater Mill Historic Site) and it herald in the American Industrial Revolution. Slater quickly expanded upon his success by building another cotton mill and company village on the Branch River in North Smithfield. This was America’s first planned industrial village, a town that remained completely owned by the Slater family until 1900 and where the concept of “the company store” originated. The original mill burned and was replaced in 1826 by one constructed of stone, but to my disappointment it has been transformed into condominiums.

Potatoes, sweet corn, eggs, dairy products, honey, apples, greenhouse vegetables, and ornamental plants are important agricultural businesses in this state and I can assure you that most of these don’t come from city garden plots. I figured that I could find country roads that would bring me almost to the city limits of Newport. Cruising south I become a bit frustrated by posted speed limits that seem unrelated to rural settlements, road conditions, or traffic density in western Rhode Island. Then again, the big cities are just a few miles away and almost every
numbered highway that intersects Rt. 102 goes to these metropolitan areas. Newport is situated on Aquidneck Island. When the second colony settled here in 1638 they began referring to it as the Rhode Island Colony to differentiate it from Roger William’s Providence Plantations—in fact, the official name for this state remains Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. I like big bridges and the one between Jamestown Island and Newport is just such a Newport Harbor and the Claiborne-Pell Bridge

The four-dollar toll—which seems excessive for a motorcycle— allows me the privilege of riding on the 11,248-foot long ClaibornePell Bridge spanning the Eastern Passage of Narragansett Bay. There’s a wide range of lodging in this city, but I simply take the advice of the Newport Visitor Center and stay at the Best Western Mainstay Inn, which is directly across from Newport Grand Slots Casino on Route 138. Clean, comfortable, and conveniently located it certainly meets my needs--I can even see my parked bike from the window. From here it’s a quick and easy ride to the historic downtown center. I had two rather natural objectives that I wanted to locate in Newport: motorcycle parking and public restrooms. Although these two things are not generally mentioned in most guidebooks or on websites they should be. I already knew that the Newport County Visitors Center on America’s Cup Ave had public restrooms and offered 30 minutes of free parking in the adjoining public parking garage (validation required), but surprise! the sign on the entry gate clearly states No Motorcycles. Ignoring it, I swerve around the barrier and head over to discuss this discrepancy with the parking attendants. According to them, if your motorcycle is heavy enough to active the barrier gate the signs don’t apply to you. Perhaps I’m the only visitor to this city who doesn’t know this? Investigating further, I discover that motorcycle parking can be found at the Seamen’s Church Institute at Bowen’s Landing and the odd-shaped spaces at the end of metered parking along Thames St. –which is parallel to America’s Cup Avenue—are reserved for motorcycles, free of charge, and have no time limit. Public restrooms can found at Ann St. Pier in the Antiques Armory Marketplace; Bowen’s Wharf; the Harbormaster building, and Gateway Center. My primary mission was accomplished. Having done a bit of research I’m aware that

Newport hosted the first U.S. National Men’s Tennis Championship (1881); the National Lawn Tennis Championship (1899); and the U.S. Open [Golf] Championship (1895). Polo was introduced to the U.S. in Newport in 1876. The first U.S. circus was held in here in 1774 and the first U.S. jazz festival in 1954. I also knew about the Newport Folk Festival and the America Cup races that made this city synonymous with yachting. Having hosted the first auto show in 1899 you’d naturally assume this was a motor-friendly city, but the first jail sentence for speeding in a car was handed down in Newport in 1904. The offender was driving 15mph and since the posted speed limit hasn’t increased much during the last hundred years, I’m being careful.
Newport streets: Surprisingly, it was quite easy to ride around Newport. Directional signs make it even simpler than usual.
After parking the bike in a motorcycles-only space across from Bowen’s Wharf, I set out to explore the downtown harbor from the Newport Ship Yard to St. Anne’s Pier. The harbor is filled with everything from kayaks to mega-yachts and the public pier along the Goat Island Causeway is the place to see some astounding sailing vessels. Next is The Breakers, the famous Vanderbilt summer “cottage” designed by Richard Morris Hunt in 1893. With 70 rooms, this Italian-Renaissance-style palazzo would be impossible to replicate in our modern era.
There are other mansions. Private ones. Large structures situated behind 20-foot high steel gates and screened by manicured forests and shrubbery. I stop to photograph horses grazing in one pasture while sheep and llamas roam across another field. Farm-like estates within a city that has some of the most expensive residential real estate in the

I’m having a wonderful time slowly cruising along Ocean Drive and end up at Fort Adams, the largest coastal fortification in the U.S. Naturally it has great scenic views of the Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor. A single day is insufficient to take in what this city offers, but I can’t stay longer. Perhaps next year I’ll come and stay for a week, but tomorrow I must continue my motorcycle journey through New England.
Newport pastures: Among the most expensive residential real estate in the nation and some people just want to use it to graze their livestock. I think this indicates old money.

The R.O.C.K. or Ride for Our Cancer Kids was created in 2004 after Founders Bob & Lori Thomas lost their daughter Samantha to Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma just three days before her third birthday. Over $300,000 has been handed over to Childhood Cancer Canada to date, with every dollar earmarked for the C17 Research Fund which is distributed to the 17 Children’s Hospitals across Canada.

sport - Events buddy. But I wondered at the time how he became so wise & smart to own a motorcycle. Anyway, the seed was set, and I had to have one -- saving my wages as a photo-engraver’s apprentice to earn enough money for a down payment on a new bike. While not wanting to bore the reader with my earlier escapades and motorcycle experiences. I should mention that, in those days not long after the second world war, money was tight. And in the UK, times were hard. We rode our bikes to work, then used the same machine for competition. Fast forward to my coming to Canada, and after adapting to the North American way of life, I got involved in motorcycle sport once again. Riding trials and cross-country races was a blast.

The young guy that was there was dressed in motorcycle gear of that era -not too flamboyant. But to me, as a 15 year-old, he could have been DH Lawrence. Then I got the ultimate chance -- to join Yamaha Canada. Wow! This proved to be a truly unbelievable adventure; not only did I get to eat, sleep and dream motorcycles, I got to meet superstars like Steve Baker & Kenny Roberts - plus I got free demo bikes!
However, the main reason that I’m writing this short message today is that trials bikes are likely the most versatile machines ever invented. They do so many things well. While most of my focus remains on setting up trials competitions, probably the most enjoyment I get out of my trials bike is exploring the high mountain terrain. To get to this high altitude requires some skill, but a trials machine makes it all possible. So, although these bikes can do amazing things In the hands of the experts like Toni Bou, for the normal guy or gal in the street, they can open up a whole new world. The Joss Mountain climb near Revelstoke has long been one of my favorites. This 35 km long trials section to the Summit at 7,25.00 ft takes a lot of skill and endurance, but the view from the top leaves you with a sense of magic. That is hard to explain -- only a handful of trials riders have made the climb. I’m glad to say I’ve done it now 8 times. Maybe 2014 will be the last.

Does life resemble “Etch-a-sketch” When I was a kid, I recall every Christmas season the t.v. ads that showed the amazing “Etch-a-sketch” and eventually one year, I received one from Santa. I recall how you could turn one Pastor Chuck control knob for horizontal lines and another knob for vertical lines and no matter how many times I tried, my artist creations really looked ridiculous. But you know what? I could just shake the toy screen and my creation disappeared and I had a clean slate to work with. I bet everyone has days and times in their lives when they would like to just shake a bit and have our past failures, mistakes, regrettable circumstances and consequences just disappear?

I’ve had friends who rode their bike intoxicated or high and paid a heavy price. I’ve known others who have seen their lives tumble into a train wreck over one bad choice. And I’ve seen those who chose to take responsibility to clean up their lives and get back on track, only to have to live with the consequences that haunt them, causing a myriad of psychological issues that in some cases move into the ‘generational’ ladder. But this past Sunday was a great reminder that the reason we celebrate Easter, is to give God the glory and honour for raising His son, Jesus Christ, from the dead. My name is Daniel Thurber of Fort Frances, Ontario Canada. I would like to introduce you not only to myself but the organization I represent. The organization is called B.U.R.N. (Bikers Urban Response Needed) which is a division of C.F.S.I. (Center For Search & Investigation). I am The Canadian National President. These names are probably foreign to you now but we are in 45 States, Canada and parts of Europe, in Australia and growing. C.F.S.I. is staffed by licensed private investigators and they are who do all of the intake and investigative work as you might expect. They then turn to B.U.R.N. when we have

Our main goals are to ensure that the child is “Found Safe” and prevent them from being introduced into the unseemly world of child trafficking, which occurs far too often in about 1/3 of the cases of missing kids. 2100+ kids go missing every day in the United States and Canada (source: US Dept. of Justice-Amber Alerts Canada) and we want to do our part to get these kids back into a safe environment by working with law enforcement and the parents/ guardians. Roadtrips with Thai… Making Friends and Influencing People Posers need not apply. So I wound up taking some road trips in a cage, riding shotgun with Thai, and still pitching up at some of the biker events.
Last season two of the most memorable had to be the Highway of Heroes Ride, followed up by the National Capital Memorial Ride. It was my distinct pleasure to be riding shotgun for Dennis Manuge, well known veterans advocate and buddy. During these events I got the chance to meet Darlene Cushman. Darlene is one of Canada’s Silver Cross Mom’s and she is hosting a memorial ride in Bracebridge Ontario the 31st of May. See the poster….
So for those of you have been following along, my life has taken some pretty serious twists and turns. For those who have followed along over the past few years, I think the only thing that kept me from going completely over the edge was my scoot… Yes wind therapy was a huge portion of what allowed me to keep what little grip I had on sanity that I had. (Please put in all the mental health jokes here… Yes I know I was a toasted marshmallow but truly did not give much of a shit about anything). I rode on the brink of the lunatic fringe a lot and some days I dragged hard parts just to get out on the edge… Oh well… But then as others know, things changed dramatically for me. I was paired with my service dog, Thai in early August of 2012 and things changed, slowly, incrementally but change they did. Thai helped drag my sorry arse back from the edge of despair and she gave me a new “leash” on life. Things changed and I no longer found myself on the very edge most days but I still enjoyed the reality of the Biker world. Real people with real passion…

It was while visiting her son’s grave in Beechwood that Thai stole Darlene’s Heart and the seeds were planted for the Trooper Darryl Caswell Memorial Ride. That day in Beechwood, Darlene was emotional and Thai knew it, and she broke ranks with me to reach out to Darlene. She knew how Darlene was feeling inside while outwardly she tried to project an image of being collected. Busted by the dog, who wanted nothing more than to help, for her to feel better. Later, Darlene had the chance to ask me how she knew and I explained it and she understood the Power of four feet and a wagging tail. Committed to helping our wounded, Darlene is doing what she knows in her heart is right. So, for all the riders in Southern Ontario, please give some thoughts to joining us in Bracebridge for a day of Biker & Family fun to support a great cause, and to help one of our Silver Cross Mom’s. After what she has given, whatever we do is pale in comparison. So Thai & I will be venturing off to Bracebridge and look forward to seeing as many there as can make it out. It should be one Pawsome event.

PEI News / Events price during the Afghanistan mission in efforts to preserve freedom for others. As part of this highway dedication we are pleased to announce that the “Portraits of Heroes” display will part of the weekend activities.
“Victory Party” Kicks Off ATLANTICADE 2014 (Summerside, P.E.) – Many of you have been asking about the theme for our 2014 festival. Over the past two years we introduced a theme to give some focus to our event. In 2012 it was “A Salute To The Military History of PEI” and in 2013 we paid tribute to first responders “Everyday Heroes”. Our 8th annual gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts will notice several distinct aspects during their time with us. Firstly 2014 is a full-year celebration on PEI as the province marks the 150th anniversary of the signing of the agreement to create a country, which occurred three years later in 1867. Secondly, you will notice more CAV members in attendance this year as they hold their annual general meeting. Of course CAV has always had a strong representation at our event but it will be increased this year given the hosting of the national meeting in Summerside.
Atlanticade, in conjunction with the CAV organization, Confederation Bridge, and the Province is working out the details of a moving tribute to honour these heroes of freedom as part of the Confederation Bridge Cruise. Details will be announced soon! Finally, the freedom of the open road, wind in your face and the blending of one with “Mother Nature” is something we all embrace. Whether you reflect on the creation of a democracy some 150 years ago, pay respect and gratitude to those who have sacrificed for the freedom of our country and others abroad, or simply absorb the feeling that comes with the open road, the concept of “freedom” will be at the forefront.
