The Humanities Department is proud to welcome you to the 2024 Spring Concert! The evening will be filled with outstanding performances from our Belen Jesuit band students in grades 6-12. Our talented and hard-working students have been working tirelessly to prepare a memorable performance that will showcase their musical skills.
The Belen Jesuit Bands are led by our exceptionally talented band director, Marlene Urbay, and our gifted band faculty, Javier Alonso (brass), Arnaldo Arencibia (woodwinds), Ivette Falcon (strings), Rey Guerra (guitar), Ruben Jimenez (percussion), and Juan Ledon (woodwinds). Through their leadership, the bands have accomplished amazing feats! This academic year, the Belen Jesuit Jazz Band attended OrlandoFest at the Universal Resort in March. The students earned a superior rating for their performance, and they were named Grand Champions of the competition, earning the highest score of all bands in attendance! In addition, our students have impressed audiences at the Fall Concert, Christmas Concerts, Tombola, and many other school events. The Jazz Band has also been invited to perform at community galas and other festivities due to the superlative reputation of the Belen Jesuit band program and its superb faculty. The Spring Concert is another opportunity for our students to share their passion for music with their families, friends, and the wider community.
Immense gratitude is extended to the families of our band students. Your support this evening and throughout the year helps encourage the growth necessary for our wonderful students to succeed and flourish on their musical journey. Furthermore, the Humanities Department is eternally grateful for the ongoing support of our President, Fr. Guillermo GarcíaTuñón, S.J. ‘87, our Principal, José E. Roca ‘84, and our Assistant Principals, Patricia Bustamante and Olivia Zarraluqui who continue to support all of the endeavors of our band program and value its place in a well-rounded Jesuit education.
Lastly, thank you, the audience, for supporting the Belen Jesuit Bands through your attendance at tonight’s show. Surely, our students are very grateful for your presence, which will make this concert even more special.
