Howdoestheschool supportthemostable children?
HigherLevelLearnersareidentifiedinallyeargroupsacrosstheschool.Using data from regular assessments, such as Cambridge Primary Insights and Cognitive Ability Tests, the staff gain a clear understanding of each child’s strengths and areas for development. In addition, we have a Higher-Level Coordinator,whoseroleistoensurethesepupilsarecontinuouslysupported andchallenged.
We provide opportunities both within and beyond the regular curriculum to nurture their abilities, gifts, and talents. We actively promote the ‘HOTS not MOTS’model,focusingonchallengingpupilswithHigherOrderThinkingSkills rather than simply providing More of the Same tasks for those who have alreadymasteredthematerial.
We are proud members of NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education)andPotentialPlusUK,bothofwhichoffervaluableguidanceforour staff and parents. Additionally, we offer specific programs to support and inspireourHigher-LevelLearners:
• Sparks Club: A unique opportunity for pupils to engage in complex topics beyond the standard curriculum, fostering critical thinking and problemsolvingskills.

We understand the importance of clear and concise communication,andwearealwaysworkingtomakeiteasier forparentstostayinformed.Tohelpwiththis,wearemaking a small but impactful change to the Newsletter. The "Week Ahead"sectionwillbemovedtothetopsoastoprovidequick andeasyaccesstokeyupdates,whichwehopeyouwillfind useful.Wewouldalsoliketoremindparentsthatyourchild’s Class Teacher or Form Tutor should always be your primary pointofcontactwithanyquestionsorconcerns.Thisensures thatcommunicationremainsdirectandefficient.
Wearealwayskeentoofferawidevarietyofextracurricular opportunitiestocatertotheinterestsanddevelopmentofall age groups. We are actively reviewing the booking process to ensure it is as fair and accessible as possible for all families, this includes assessing the demand to ensure we canaccommodateasmanychildrenaspossible.Toensure theclubsandactivitiesweofferareengagingandenjoyable, we regularly ask pupils for their input. This has helped us shape a program that reflects their interests and provides somethingforeveryone.Ifyourchildhasaparticularinterest, orsuggestionforaclub,pleaseencouragethemtosharethis withtheirClassTeacherorFormTutor.
Theyignitecuriosity,questioning,andcreativity,allowingchildrento stepoutsidetheclassroomandimmersethemselvesinreal-world experiences. In addition, these opportunities help children explore new perspectives and develop critical thinking skills essential for theirpersonalandacademicgrowth.
Ifatripalignswellwiththecurriculumaimsandoffersgoodvalue formoney,itmayberepeatedyearonyear.However,ifitnolonger meets these criteria, we explore new options to ensure the best possibleexperiencesforourpupils.
The most sought-after providers of trips are very popular, and schoolwilloftenhavetobookalmostayearinadvancetosecure the appropriate slot in the calendar. This means that we need to requestanearlydepositinordertosecurethebooking.
To help with planning, it is our intention to send out an annual schedule so that families are aware of the trips and approximate coststoassistwithbudgeting.Itisalsoimportanttonotethattrips are always optional when a charge is applied. Our staff carefully plan trips to balance their educational value with affordability, ensuringtheyremainenrichingandaccessibleexperiencesforall.
The school is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and fosteringsustainability.
To guide our efforts, we have commissioned a comprehensive sustainabilitysurvey,whichoutlinesthestepsneededtoreduceour carbonfootprintoverthenext20years.
Some small but impactful measures have already been implemented, such as replacing all lighting with energy-efficient LEDalternatives.
Looking ahead, we are excited to embark on the journey of achievingtheEco-schoolsGreenFlagAward.Thisinitiativewillnot onlyfurtherourcommitmenttosustainabilitybutalsoensurethat our children are educated about the importance of protecting the environmentandunderstandingtheimpactoftheiractionsonboth localandglobalcommunities.
Weareproudtoprovidemealsthatareofhighquality,varied,and nutritionally balanced to support the health and wellbeing of our pupils.
Our menus are carefully planned to offer a wide range of options, ensuringthereissomethingtosuitalltastesanddietaryneeds.We alsounderstandthatchildrenoftenhavegrowingappetites.
The children are encouraged to ask for a small, medium or large portion, and Form Tutors and Class Teachers will regularly remind thechildrenthatiftheyarehungry,theycanaskfor‘seconds’ora ‘topup’toensuretheyaretoppedupfortheafternoon’sactivities.
Additionally,weareexcitedtoannouncethatwewillbeintroducing a“FoodCouncil”aspartoftheestablishedSchoolCouncil.Thiswill provide the children with the opportunity to share their feedback and ideas about the food on offer, ensuring their voices are heard andhelpingustocontinueimprovingthediningexperience.
Whyistheplayequipmentoutof boundsafter3.30pm?
We understand that pick up time allows families to socialise and provides children with the opportunity to play together outside of theclassroom.
We are very happy for families who are waiting to pick up older childrenorwishtosocialisewithotherfamilies,tomeetandplayon the front lawn. To help with this we are looking to install some benchesatthebottomofthefrontlawn. Wewouldaskthatchildren arealwayssupervisedwhilstonsite.
Unfortunately, we are unable to allow access to the climbing equipment after school. The play equipment requires active supervisiontoensurethesafetyofthechildren,andwedonothave the staffing capacity to supervise the children on the equipment afterschool. Shouldtherebeaseriousaccident,failuretoprovide adequatesupervisionwouldputtheschoolatrisk.Forthisreason, wehavemadetheplaygroundequipmentoutofboundsafter3:30 pm.

Willthereeverbeaswimmingpool onsite?
At this time, there are no plans to build a new swimming pool on the schoolgrounds,asthiswouldrequireasubstantialfinancialinvestment. Instead, we offer swimming sessions at Brackley Leisure Centre SwimmingPool(lessthan10minutesaway)wherethechildrenbenefit from coaching from specialist swimming coaches. This arrangement allows us to provide high quality swimming lessons in a safe and fully equippedenvironment.
WearedelightedtosharethatthisyearBeachboroughFriends,withthe school’ssupport,hasalreadyintroducedadditionaleventssuchasthe QuizNight, whichwasfreetoattend. Theseregularsocial eventsarea wonderful opportunity for parents to connect with and strengthen our schoolcommunity,andweremaincommittedtoofferingactivitiesthat areenjoyable,engaging,andprovideexcellentvalueformoney.
Toensuretheseeventscontinueandtomakethemevenmoreexciting, wewouldlovetoencourageyourinvolvement,notjustbyattendingbut also by helping with the planning and running of these occasions. The Beachborough Friends Committee does a fantastic job of organising events, but with more helping hands, the possibilities for what we can offergrowevengreater.
