Wellbeing

Our pupils’ wellbeing is dynamic – it can change from moment to moment, day to day. We recognise good wellbeing for our pupils when they:
• Feel relatively confident in themselves and have a positive self esteem
• Feel and express a wide range of emotions
• Build and maintain good relationships with others
• Feel engaged with the world around them
• Cope with the stresses and strains of daily life
• Adapt and manage in times of change and uncertainty
Resilience helps us maintain our wellbeing in difficult circumstances. Resilience also provides us with the ability to cope with life’s challenges and to bounce back when things

More About Mrs Crook
Mrs Crook is our Nurture & Wellbeing Practitioner, and is based in the welcoming Wellbeing Room in the Manor House. The room is calm and tranquil and has lots of useful resources to help with feelings, friendships and family. There are nurturing games, arts and crafts, mindfulness colouring, Lego, self-help information sheets, a ‘calm box’, and a mental health information display. However, the most impactful work achieved in this comforting setting is through conversations and reflection.

Wellbeing Support Service
Mrs Crook has worked in schools for 9 years - working mainly in SEN and pastoral roles. She is able to offer 1:1 wellbeing support sessions, at no extra cost, for all children who would benefit from having someone to talk to about their worries, concerns or mental health. These informal sessions take place during the school day and can offer advice, strategies or simply a non-judgemental listening ear.
We recognise the importance of breaking stigmas and helping all in our community to understand that it is okay to ask for help, if and when they need it. Ultimately, the aim of School Wellbeing Sessions is to remove barriers to learning which helps everyone to thrive and flourish.
Mrs Crook holds a qualification in Drawing & Talking Therapy, which is the number one alternative to CBT and direct talking therapies, which can often be confronting or limiting in the process of pain or trauma.
If you feel your child would benefit from working with Mrs Crook in a support setting or some 1:1 sessions, please speak to your child’s class teacher/tutor, or contact Mrs Crook directly at: a.crook@beachborough.com
