Letter from the Director:

Let the Current Guide You

Our parks and recreational facilities serve as more than just places for leisure; they are integral to promoting health and well-being, fostering community connections, and preserving our natural heritage. By embracing the theme "Let the Current Guide You," we hope to inspire individuals to connect with nature, embark on unique new adventures, and create lasting memories right here in Franklin County.

To bring this initiative to life, this program guide is full of events and activities that showcase the beauty and diversity of our county. Here are just a few that I would like to highlight:

• Explore the waters of Smith Mountain Lake on the Virginia Dare. Page 5

• Watch movies under the stars with friends and family at Movies on the Move. Page 14

• Strut your mullet or cheer for your favorite mane at the Mullet Competition. Page 17

• Compete in the exciting farm-themed fitness challenge, Farm Strong. Page 20

• Tube on the safe, shallow waters at night, under the lights at River of Lights. Page 22

• Enjoy live music in the picturesque waters of Philpott at Concerts by Canoe. Page 23

We invite you to join us in spreading the word and encouraging participation in these activities, as we work together to promote a healthy, active lifestyle and celebrate the natural wonders of Franklin County. Best Regards,
