The time for rehearsal is over and the Battlefords Children’s Junior and Preparatory choirs and Kamala Youth Choir begin Tuesday with three presentations of the Wizard of Oz at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts. Tuesday is a matinee for other students. Wednesday and Thursday evenings, curtain time is 7 p.m. The musical will be presented under the direction of Dianne Gryba and JoAnne Kasper, who thought it was appropriate to do the Wizard of Oz this year as it is the 75th anniversary of the movie based on the book by Frank L. Baum. Watch out for rising star Shadow, who will play Toto. Tickets are available at the Dekker Centre box office. Adults are $20, students and seniors are $17.50 and children $15. Did you get your tickets for the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Fling? To be held Wednesday at the church hall starting at 6 p.m., there are only 100 tickets available and they must be purchased in advance. Ticket holders will be in for a feast of heavenly ham, sumptuous salads, divine desserts and eclectic entertainment. Check with the church office at 306-445-4155 to see if there are any tickets left. More delectable food on Friday, June 13, with the Battlefords Wildlife Federa-

tion eighth annual Fish Fry. This is another event that requires advance tickets. Priced at $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under, tickets are available from Co-op Leisure Time Sports, Piper Equipment or any BWF member. Supper starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be served until 8 p.m. at the Battlefords Wildlife Federation building at the junction of Highway 16 and 40. Saturday is Strut Your Mutt day, billed as “Fun for the whole dog gone family.” It’s the 2014 Walk For Animals, beginning with registration at 9:30 a.m. at the Battlefords Humane Society Animal Shelter in North Battleford. The walk begins at 10 a.m. Participants can collect pledges and win prizes for shortest and longest tail, smallest and largest dog, youngest and oldest walkers and walker and team collecting the most pledges. At 11 a.m., activities include an RCMP canine demonstration, face painting, a barbecue and balloons for the kids. Eunice the miniature pig and her barnyard friends will also be there. Looking a little further ahead, tickets are available at Bee-J’s Office Plus and Nufloors for the June 21 presentation by the Battlefords Jazz Society and the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival of Jane Bunnett and Maqueque. Bunnett is a multi-Juno award winner and has been named to the Order of Canada for her work as a jazz musician. This is not to be missed.
