LATEST NEWS Dormant Auckland Residential Housing Market Awakes The dormant Auckland residential property market awoke in October, with higher selling prices and new Barfoot & sales, Thompson listings.“In comparison with where the average market share market has been for the past 9 months, for these suburbs: October trading was extremely active,” said Peter Thompson, Managing

Director of Barfoot & Thompson. “Spring arrived, and the market came alive. “The average sales price for the month at $937,277 was the highest this year and up 1.5 percent on the average for the previous three months.

“Sales numbers for the month at 884 was the highest in October for three years, and close to a quarter higher than last month and close to 40% higher than for the same month last year. “Available property for sale also reached the highest it has been for the past 6 years with total listings at month end reaching 4848, and new listings for the month hitting 2046, the highest in a month for 19 months. “Sales of property were sound across all price segments, with 11 percent of sales being for under $500,000, 32 percent between $1 million and $2 million and nearly 5 percent being for over $2million.

I have now been in the real estate business since 1997 and always with Barfoot & Thompson –the number 1 seller of properties in Auckland. Born and educated in Auckland after a career as an accountant I joined Barfoot & Thompson as a salesperson. Selling in Parnell, Remuera, Mission Bay, Kohimamara and Orakei gave me a great insight into the Eastern Suburbs and prepared me for a management role within the company. After completing my managers qualification I went on and achieved AREINZ status shortly after.

In 2007 I was appointed the inaugural manager of the Pt Chevalier branch of Barfoot & Thompson and grew the business to 12 salespeople in an area that has seen immense growth in the last 10 years. In 2013 I was appointed the branch manager of Parnell and am thrilled to be leading the team in the area that I feel most comfortable with. Parnell properties range from the smallest studio apartment to beautiful large homes set in expertly manicured gardens. The Parnell branch has 22 salespeople selling not only the local area but the greater Auckland isthmus and a very effective Property Management division devoted to assisting over 200 rental property owners.
