Crufts 2023

The annual greatest dog show on the planet returned to the familiar NEC in Birmingham in March earlier this year as they celebrated their 150th anniversary!

Thousands of dogs and their owners descended on Birmingham to compete for the world-famous Best in Show award that was eventually awarded to Orca the Lagotto Romagnolo, the first of its breed to ever win the shows category.

There was an abundance of rare breeds at the show to which visitors could get up close and personal with, creating a magical and unforgettable experience. The well-organised event

once again displayed a large range of exhibitors that introduced some of the latest and most innovative products and services available to all dog lovers. The dog competitions were, and always are, a real highlight of the show. Over 15,000 people gathered to watch the events that took place from the Agility, Freestyle, and Flyball Competitions to the Gundog Display, Breeders Competition, and The Kennel Club 150th anniversary celebration stake. There was certainly lots to see at this special anniversary show.

Crufts 2024 will start on Thursday, March 7th and will end on Sunday, March 10th.

This is our pick of the best exhibitors from this year’s event, listed here: The Amaze Brush & Plantlife. Further details can be found on this page.

Complying with life science sterilization control mandates

The traceability of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes is critical to navigating the complexity of government regulations that impact the design, development, production and distribution of medications. The recent introduction of the EudraLex Volume 4 Annex 1 guidance regarding the manufacturing of sterile medicinal products is an example of good manufacturing practices (GMPs) that help ensure quality and safety. But the challenge comes with documenting the process, as Roberto Zerbi, global life sciences business development manager at industrial technology manufacturer Watlow (pictured) explains.

The EudraLex Volume 4 Annex 1 guidance, which comes into effect in August 2023, illustrates how new regulations are introduced to grow trust in the life sciences business.

Sterilizers play a key role in producing injectable medicines like vaccines. Life science firms and the machine builders that support them must find the most efficient way to meet the data integrity principles applied to

The new alternatives in power conversion

the records of each heat sterilization cycle.

Point 8.50 of the EudraLex Volume 4 Annex 1 states, “Each heat sterilization cycle should be recorded electronically or by hardcopy, using equipment with suitable accuracy and precision. The system should have safeguards and/or redundancy in its control and monitoring instrumentation to detect a cycle not conforming to the validated cycle parameter requirements and abort or fail this cycle (e.g., by the use of duplex/ double probes connected to independent control and monitoring systems).”

To learn more about Watlow, visit: watlow.com, or to learn more about Eurotherm, please visit: eurotherm.com

Power conversion is commonly achieved through phase-angle controllers, transformers and power supplies. But these solutions can either damage heaters, or take up large amounts of space or make it incredibly hard to measure and control the power flow. Watlow’s power conversion technology solves these issues by providing the ability to bring voltage up or down smoothly without having to introduce a bulky power supply. Watlow temperature controllers, such as POWERGLIDE®, are capable of modulating the amplitude of the output voltage, allowing the voltage to step down from 208 volts to as low as 20 volts.

Lowering the voltage in this way is a great way to drive low-impedance heaters. It can reduce the power distribution rating with smaller fuses and wires, which saves money and space. It can also protect ceramic heaters from breaking. Watlow’s power conversion technology also achieves high power quality without the high cost and added space of a DC power supply.

Power conversion is an essential element of many heating applications. Yet most current power conversion technology is not well suited to cases where heaters are fragile, have ceramic components, or have to ensure safe operation across the globe. No longer do devices have to be engineered around power quality issues. Instead, smooth, stable power changes are possible across a huge variety of outputs, and noise is reduced drastically.

CP Cases: Providing bespoke equipment cases for transit

In this issue of Products & Services Review, we are delighted to select CP Cases with our Industry Excellence Award, for outstanding contribution to the design and manufacturing of high-performance, protective cases and racks.

With over fifty years industry experience, CP Cases has unparalleled expertise in producing cases, 19-inch solutions and bags. With state-of-the-art in-house facilities and expert engineering with rotomoulded plastic, aluminium, laminated plywood, HPP, textiles and CNC foam machining, this Isleworth-based company is top of the class.

Established back in 1971 by current Managing Director and founder, Peter Ross and his thenbusiness partner, Chris Sherwin, the company produced one of the first to market flight cases for the live music industry, such as The Rolling Stones and Queen during the halcyon days of the 1970’s. The touring case for legendary rock band, The Who is incidentally, proudly on display at the reception headquarters.

Since that time, CP Cases now offers a broad range of protective, operational transit cases for broadcast and media, defence and security, medical and scientific, offshore and many other sectors. Many of the products are accredited to MIL-STD-810, rated IP65 and carry NATO stock numbers. With eight flagship products, across seven markets and a state-of-theart 31,000 sq.ft. facility, this powerhouse company means business.

We spoke to Laura Poole: Head of Marketing Communications to find out more about this market-leader, “Customisation is our main USP and at the heart of everything we do. We don’t offer off-the-rack products – 95% of what we do is a custom solution built especially for that customer, using the latest CAD design

processing and rotational moulding and CVC machinery.”

“We are based in Isleworth, West London, with a second base in Delaware, USA and we have the skills and expertise to help you avoid damage to precious assets during transportation. We realise that this damage can be costly and time-consuming and ultimately impact on hard-won reputations.”

“Everything we make is methodically designed and manufactured with high-quality materials and rigorously tested. If we further improve our products, we will tailor our products so that they leave no room at all for damage – and they make your everyday business easier.”

With equipment that’s vital to businesses, protective care quickly becomes a priority and CP Cases is the trusted brand in this instance. Protective casing can often become an afterthought for companies though, leading to panic-stricken conversations about how to protect the latest cutting-edge advanced technology. Luckily, with in-house CAD design and precision-driven manufacturing, the expert team at CP Cases can get to work immediately on last-minute bespoke orders.

Some of the most popular products include the following:

◆ Protective cases: Lightweight but resilient, available in different materials and for varying applications.

◆ 19-inch racks and enclosures: Sturdy products that are easy to move and offer climate control, water resistance and much more.

◆ Rugged textile cases: cushioned bags for equipment, designed for easy access and fragile equipment.

Customised rugged textile equipment cases can be expertly made for the broadcasting, medical or defence industries. With many broadcasting agencies covering war-torn areas, the danger of artillery firing impacting on equipment is ever-

present. Journalists often cover areas hit by torrential rain, due to climate change, making it imperative to have robust rain covers for cameras, at all times. Defence companies need key satellite communication equipment protected day and night during transportation and CP Cases offers robust, fully padded cases. With impact-resistance, anti-vibration, anti-fungal, and anti-static inherent qualities, customers are rest assured that their precious assets are protected with these precisiondesigned cases.

CP Cases has the edge over competitors through its excellent understanding of the potential climate conditions and other threats facing assets under its protective care during cargo transit. This could include the following:

◆ Pressure changes, vibrations and freezing high-altitude temperatures during flight transit

◆ Water ingress during oceanic transit

◆ Dust and humidity in extreme hot climatic zones

◆ Electromagnetic interference.

The expert team will endeavour to understand the nature of each individual business: namely the types of goods being transported and how to mitigate against individual transportation threats. The protection strategy is precisiondesigned, with years of expertise and best practice, leaving customers assured that their assets are in safe hands.

With over fifty years’ experience, this leading company is always looking to stay ahead of the curve with its latest product design, including the Vapour Compression Cycle

(VCC2) system, which Laura explains further, “Our latest Vapour Compression Cycle (VCC2) system is a compressor-based portable air conditioning device engineered to provide high-level, efficient air conditioning in remote locations, while simultaneously meeting the demands of defence and civil operations in extreme environments. The IP55-rated VCC2 system has been meticulously constructed at the highest level, with the added benefits of low maintenance costs and easyusability.”

The 19-inch rackmount protects equipment from heat, humidity and freezing conditions, ideal for remote conditions with extreme temperatures.

Furthermore, there has been a lot of exciting renovation work going on at the on-factory at CP Cases over the past few months, including

the core of this innovative company, with the latest focus on environmentally-friendly waste, as Laura elaborates further, “We have been trying to find a good solution for all our foam off-cuts and scrap pieces for a long time. We use off-cuts where possible, which reduces waste a little, but we were still sending up to 10 bags a week to landfill.”

“We are now happy to report that we have signed an agreement with Ramfoam Ltd for them to collect most of our scrap/waste foam free of charge, which will greatly reduce our foam waste going to landfill by perhaps 90%.”

“The waste foam will be sent to Finland where it is ground up and used as a base layer on 5G Football pitches. It is really exciting to see this progression in lean manufacturing – helping us move closer towards our carbon footprint & sustainability targets.”

the latest installation of a lift. Alongside many other UK companies, CP Cases is joining the big push to meet the UK Government’s net-zero targets, showing its unwavering commitment to long-term sustainability.

Meeting net-zero targets is at

CP Cases is also a fully-fledged ally of onshore manufacturing, with all sourcing and production of goods going through its UK in-house manufacturing site for the UK market, whilst the American Delaware facility is focused wholly on the military market across the USA. Looking towards the future, this dynamic company is excited about expansion into different markets to widen the company’s remit. This includes a sales forecast of increasing sales and production in the USA by 50%, over the next 10 years. With the recent on-site rotational moulding facility addition, service capacity of customised manufacturing has increased exponentially.

CP Cases is a truly worthy recipient of our Industry Excellence Award: demonstrating its fastidious commitment to excellence, innovative design with the latest Vapour Compression Cycle (VCC2) system and unwavering commitment to meeting UK net-zero targets.

“It’s great to receive this award and the recognition. We always strive for excellence and innovation with everything we do and we hope to use this award as a stepping stone to keep that standard,” concludes Laura.

Stylographics sets new trends with Marc Jacobs and Soyang Europe

The large-format print and Fabrication Company recently used Print Floor from Soyang Europe to help create an eye-catching retail display for world famous design brand Marc Jacobs

Watford-based largeformat print and specialist fabrication company Stylographics recently used Print Floor from Soyang Europe to produce a striking retail window display for global fashion brand Marc Jacobs.

A diversified business, Stylographics works with clients across a wide range of markets, producing all kinds of inspiring print applications. The company counts a number of highprofile brands amongst its customers including Costa Coffee, Lindt, Primark, Sony and Netflix.

Among these clients is Marc Jacobs, which has partnered with Stylographics on a series of projects to showcase its brand in a number of innovative ways. The latest collaboration was a retail window display at one of Marc Jacobs’ stores.

Stylographics was tasked with creating an eye-catching display that would help draw the attention of passers-by and tempt them into the store to view some of the latest products from Marc Jacobs. The design featured a bold black and white pattern that was to stretch around the entire window frame.

With this in mind, Stylographics opted to use Print Floor, a PVC flooring material from Soyang Europe ideal for use in applications such as floor graphics and retail displays.

Stylographics used its Durst P10

250HS UV inkjet printer to print the design onto the material.

“Having used Print Floor from Soyang Europe for a number of years and on a whole range of projects, we knew straight away that this application would require the same solution,” said Siobhan Storey, Marketing Manager, at Stylographics.

“What stands out for us and what we like the most about Print Floor is that it is a very hard-wearing and reliable product; we rely on it time and time again for all sorts of applications.”

Stylographics is a long-term customer of Soyang Europe, having worked together for more than 10 years. Speaking about this relationship, Siobhan said that the service from Soyang Europe goes much further than simply supplying and delivering materials.

“Soyang Europe are always on hand for advice and technical back up when required,” Siobhan said.

“As Stylographics is an innovative company, we are impressed by the range of materials they hold and we are always keen to see new products they bring to the market.”

Kosmos by Kingsway Group

Kosmos Conscious Monitoring System by Kingsway Group was launched earlier this year, born out of insight and customer need. Whilst the CQC have not mandated use of alarmed doors and systems there is a growing number of NHS Mental Health Foundation Trusts investing in this area to increase detection of ligature attempts and to ultimately keep vulnerable service users safe in their care. In line with the questions Trusts have to answer when being inspected by the CQC, implementing a Conscious Monitoring System helps give practical solutions in answering ‘Are they Safe,’ ‘Are they Effective’ and ‘Are they responsive to people’s needs.’

The Conscious Monitoring System is easy to install and works in coordination with an already installed Kingsway alarmed Complete Door Systems or in new build projects where alarmed door systems are required. Set up, training and support are all provided as part of setting a team up for success and making it a positive addition to the working environment rather than feeling like an additional responsibility.

Benefits of Kosmos by

Kingsway Group include:

Full geographical layout map on screen making it easier to identify where an incident has taken place

Healthcare Trusts have direct access to all alarm and fault information. Data is easily filtered and reports produced which provides alarm information so that staff can identify trends. For example, alarms occurring at certain times of day or in particular rooms

CQC may request access to this historical alarm data during an inspection

Useful information for the mental health trusts for auditing purposes including analyzing sequences of events leading up to a ligature alarm

Useful for Kingsway engineers to interrogate fault alarm data in order to determine commonalities.

The pursuit of natural sound: Sound like no other

In this issue of Healthcare Matters, we are delighted to feature Widex UK & Ireland as our Hearing Aid Manufacturer Company of the Month.

In the bygone era of the mid-1800s, cumbersome ear trumpets were used to aid hearing but by the 20th century, hearing aids

gradually moved from mechanical to electrical devices. Since then, innovation, cutting edge technology, and in-depth knowledge of hearing loss have led to state-of-the-art hearing aid devices, allowing everyone with hearing impairment to hear all those sounds that make life wonderful and landmark moments such as: our baby’s first words, wedding nuptials, or our favourite song of all time.

Widex is a market-leading manufacturer of world-class hearing aids, with an emphasis on ‘natural sound’. Established in Denmark in 1956 by the Tøpholm & Westermann families, the company has continuously offered innovative audiology solutions, including the first digital in-the-ear hearing aid in 1995, to the groundbreaking WIDEX MOMENT™ with artificial intelligence and the fastest processing ever achieved, creating the most natural sound ever experienced with a hearing aid. Now with over 4,000 workers worldwide and products sold in over 100 countries, Widex has achieved global brand awareness, whilst still keeping its roots as a proud Danish family-owned business. In 2019, Widex and Sivantos merged and formed WS Audiology, which remains privately owned

by the founding families of Widex, as well as funds under the management of EQT.

Widex takes great pride in its commitment to sustainability: protecting hearing and the planet simultaneously. The Danish Lynge headquarters are run entirely on green energy: wind power, solar cells and recycled rainwater.

With a firm commitment to industry-leading business support and professional development for audiologists in the UK & Ireland, Widex has announced an exclusive partnership with the renowned Audiology Academy. Widex professional customers will now have exclusive access to the latest, advanced training courses through the Audiology Academy either at its state-of-the-art training facility at Wombourne, Staffordshire or at Widex Head Office in Chester. The Academy has worked across many esteemed settings from the NHS, Universities, BAAT and hearing clinics.

This partnership demonstrates Widex’ dedication to promoting best practice in the audiology industry, which is also reflected through a further announced strategic partnership with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) in a project to promote hearing healthcare, which will directly and positively impact independent audiology businesses and future graduates in the UK and Ireland.

“We are delighted to partner with Anglia Ruskin University on this exciting project which we predict will change and shape not only how we analyse real life data, but also the way it is used to generate the best positive outcomes,” said Lewis Chisnall, Head of Widex UK & Ireland. “Anglia Ruskin University’s reputation as one of the leading learning establishments for audiology is a key reason for us partnering with them and strongly aligns with our drive to deliver the best hearing healthcare provision in the industry.”

As well as these two exclusive partnerships, Widex’ reputation as a world-leading choice for independent audiology business partners is further fuelled by its extensive product portfolio range, access to first-class training opportunities and bespoke business and marketing support.

Widex may be leading the way with their focus on business support for their professional customers, but the hearing aid manufacturer’s long held reputation for superior product quality and innovation is as strong as ever. Widex offers an extensive range of hearing solutions to independent audiologists around the UK and Ireland, with the latest cutting-edge advanced technology, to create the unique Widex Sound. Key to the natural sound found in Widex hearing aids is the unique technology, which allows Widex Hearing aids to pick up the broadest spectrum of sound so that every wearer can enjoy all the sounds they enjoy, from hearing a friend in a busy crowded market place, to bird song on a crisp, autumn morning.

Using state-of-the-art advanced AI technology and precise user data, discreet Widex hearing

aids are purposefully designed to pick up the broadest spectrum of sound possible. This allows Widex wearers to enjoy sound naturally every day.

The independent research consultancy: Heart & Mind Strategies carried out an extensive survey amongst 246 audiologists and licenced hearing aid dispensers, across the USA. The purpose of the survey was to thoroughly investigate the perceptions of six major hearing aid brands on the US market by leading Hearing Care Professionals (HCP.) The results were overwhelmingly positive for Widex. Firstly, regarding brand comparison, the survey looked at rejection rates after an initial hearing aid trial period by the user. Widex had the lowest rejection rate of all the major brands, showing high customer satisfaction rates. This was also reflected with brand switching, where customers opted to choose a different brand from the trial brand and in this case, Widex also scored the lowest, showing overwhelming high satisfaction with the product.

Widex hearing aids are lovingly made with the highest craftsmanship levels and this was demonstrated through the lowest number of follow-up appointments, post-fitting. Wearers were delighted with their Widex hearing aids and didn’t need after-care support, which also freed up more time for the HCPs to spend with new customers.

Furthermore, HCPs can easily measure hearing thresholds with the hearing aid in-the-ear and with the aid of the transducer, through which real-life sounds are conveyed. This allows

a much more realistic model of individual hearing data, instead of relying on audiometric equipment averages. Of the HCPs surveyed, 75% were very or extremely satisfied with this measuring device characteristic.

Finally, the Widex Sound Relax™ brings nextgenerational Widex fractal sounds, ultimately providing beneficial sound therapy for tinnitus sufferers. 89% of HCPs were familiar with this beneficial feature and 70% were very or extremely satisfied with the results.

The independent survey concluded that Widex hearing aids were hugely superior over major competing brands, with the lowest ranked rejection rates and follow-up appointments, demonstrating not only the highest wearer satisfaction but also more freed-up time for HCPs to spend with new customers, vastly improving the entire customer audiology experience.

We spoke to Emma Williams: Brand Manager, to find out where Widex is looking to expand to over the coming years, “We are looking forward to our partnership working with Audiology Academy and Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), to strengthen our commitment to best practice across the whole audiology industry.”

“We are known as a manufacturer of cuttingedge ‘firsts’ and hope to continue pushing innovative design boundaries, allowing users access to real sounds.”

“In the future, we are looking to branch out into the optical industry, working with independent opticians across the UK & Ireland.”

Widex will be at the: AIHHP Hearing Expo: 24th-25th November 2023, Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Birmingham.

BDIA Dental Showcase 2023: Raising the standards of oral care

The BDIA Dental Showcase was back at the ExCeL, London from 24th-25th March 2023. The event united the whole dental profession under one-roof, to showcase the latest innovations across the industry. With over 300 exhibitors showcasing over 2,500 products and over 100 lectures, it was action-packed with innovative products and services, panel discussions and industry networking.

Over 10,000 dental professionals visited and 88% of those either made a purchase at the event or shortly after, proving that this is the best place to showcase new dentals products and grow brand awareness.

The professional category of the visitors was as follows: 69% dental professional/practice owners, 14% hygienists/therapists, 8% dental nurses, 5% practice managers, 3% dental technicians and 1% were orthodontists. With 78% of visitors holding purchasing power/ influence over purchasing decisions, this is a prime opportunity for suppliers and manufacturers to promote products to dental professionals, with a high chance of a sales lead.

This year’s exhibitors included: dental plan providers, educational training providers on dentures, dental prosthetic manufacturers, surgical glove and temporary crown suppliers, through to household toothpaste brand manufacturers.

There was a buzz around the latest clinical instruments, such as: plug-in-and play portable dental equipment, panavia dental cement for cementation of veneers, polydentia matrices (for anterior restoration), and anti-staining mouthwash, toothpaste and gel.

The showcase always attracts the brightest minds in the business and this year was no exception, with the Chief Dental Officer: Sara Hurley and her team giving CPD presentations on the latest oral health regulations and oral health inequalities. The Clinical Theatre housed fascinating keynote lectures from the BDA on The Dahl Principle and endodontics: still considered a ‘dark art’ for many in the dental profession. New for 2023 was The Aesthetics Theatre, with engaging, thought-provoking talks on cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics, such as teeth whitening, dark anterior teeth and implantology.

The Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) President: Amit Patel gave a well-received talk to audiences.

HYPO21: Heal your skin

The two-day showcase had everything under-oneroof from the latest innovations and services to help improve dental practices and cutting-edge new innovations to inspire even the most accomplished dental professionals. With demonstrations and testing available, the emphasis was on handson applications. The talks and presentations were thought-provoking and provided excellent opportunities for further networking.

This is our pick of the best exhibitors from this year’s event, listed here: Dental Warehouse & EesseE Ltd (HYPO21). Further details can be found on this page.

Real science in the human body

Harmful pathogens, such as bacteria, spores, and viruses, can be found all around us, in the air, on food, plants, animals, and on inanimate surfaces. The human body uses innate, non-specific mechanisms as the first line of defence against pathogens, infection, and injury. The skin itself, and mucous secretions at epithelial membranes, are both important elements of the innate resistance response. But when these are breached, HOCl is immediately generated by the body in response as the key chemical component of innate immunity.

Compassion Fatigue: From stress to strength: Recognise-respondrecover

In this issue of Healthcare Matters, we are proud to select EF training as our Specialist Mental Health Training Provider Company of the Month.

A recent report by NHS England found that compassion fatigue was endemic among its 1.3 million staff members. Poor mental health was common, leading to a quarter of staff absences and now sadly, death by suicide is now the highest among the caring professions. However, they also found that due care and attention given to compassion fatigue led to reduced staff sickness rates, improved performance and morale, showing that indeed caring for people who care matters.

CEO and Founder of EF training, Jayne Ellis describes compassion fatigue vividly as ‘vicarious trauma’ or secondary trauma, a set of acute symptoms that offer mirror the very

people or animals that are being supported. These symptoms can manifest as irritability, breathlessness, feeling overwhelmed, often leading to shut-down and detachment, impacting on workplace performance and home life.

These feelings can be common across a wide range of professions including: medical/nursing staff, counsellors/therapists, charity workers, educationalists, funeral directors, prison officers and animal welfare workers. These amazing caregivers and professionals often possess innate empathy and kindness, which can be eroded through exposure to challenging emotional situations, daily patient distress through pain management, medical conditions and terminal illnesses.

The flight/fight response to this induced stress is linked to the ‘dark side of caring’ and the cycle of

repressing feelings and just carrying on can have a profound impact on wellbeing, leading to high workplace absenteeism and other work-related illnesses.

EF training was established in 2010, as an antidote to increasing rates of compassionate fatigue by founder and CEO Jayne Ellis. With a previous nursing background and compassion fatigue sufferer herself, Jayne wanted to develop a quality, evidence-based training course to address these endemic issues. With an experienced team of trainers with backgrounds in palliative care, child protection, social care, animal welfare and alternative health, the training course is endorsed by The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP.)

EF training is the only UK-based company providing accredited bespoke Emotional Resilience training courses, designed to address the impact of compassion fatigue, as well as First Aid Mental Health Training. Based in the picturesque village of Old Windsor, Berkshire the company works proactively with companies right across the UK and Southern Ireland.

We spoke to Natalie Farran: Sales Manager to find out more about how EF training can help organisations combat the grinding impact of compassion fatigue, “EF training has proven positive results in staff retention and sickness levels. This is achieved by the meticulous monitoring and evaluations we carry out.”

“Being the only UK company accredited and endorsed by Skills for Care and The Royal College of Nursing (RCN), in Compassion Fatigue training,

HCM IS SPONSORED BY – SEE THEM ON PAGE III XII SPECIALIST MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING PROVIDER Company of the Month

our training is appropriately recognised and has proven, evidence-based results.”

“We now have Part 2 to our training – Reflecting and Responding to Compassion Fatigue. This is designed to enable participants to recap the themes of the original course, take time to reflect on the impact of compassion/emotional fatigue in their personal and professional lives, and explore further strategies and tools to strengthen and maintain emotional well-being.”

EF training starts by carrying out a thorough consultation process, talking with Clinical Managers/HR Specialists, with a pre-coursequestionnaire also designed to extensively hone in on staff feelings. This allows the trainers to identify specific areas for improvement, such as in-house wellbeing services. Throughout the CPDaccredited course, managers and staff learn to:

✚ recognise the emotional impact of their daily job – the symptoms of compassion fatigue and further impact

✚ respond to these symptoms through a holistic programme of diet, exercise and sleep

✚ recover through mindfulness, self-care & selfcompassion, leading to enhanced emotional resilience

Through recognising the underlying causes of compassion fatigue and its associated risk factors,

staff can learn to effectively reduce and reverse the impact. The course teaches students to utilise practical and sustainable self-care remedies, designed for ongoing effectiveness.

What stands EF training apart from other training providers is the due care and diligence taken with pre- and post-course student evaluations. The company is the only training provider that carries out monitoring effectiveness follow-ups. After 12 weeks, all students are asked to fill in an evaluation form to assess the effect of the course on themselves and the team.

One particular case study is a nursing home, with high sickness rates and staff turnover, causing a deep chasm in everyday operations. Some of the staff acknowledged the emotional impact of their caregiving role at home and often felt guilty if

into place after upsetting incidents, allowing for a more team-centred approach. Regular access to counselling and complimentary therapies meant the hardworking team felt more looked after and happier at work. The feedback from the staff was overwhelmingly glowing:

“This should be mandatory training for all healthcare professionals – such as brilliant blend of theory and participation.”

A staggering 80% of all total EF training course participants had considered quitting their professions – this is despite fundamentally loving their jobs and a worrying 94% said work massively intruded on their home life.

they took time off, due to ill health. The students found the EF training course empowering and the subsequent follow-up found hugely improved staff communication and team morale. The management team had put clinical supervision

The post-course respond evaluations are illuminating and heartwarming with comments such as, “The course made me feel validated”

The recover statistics speak for themselves: ✚ 99% felt the course had been a positive experience for them and their team

Managers are often stunned at the shift in team dynamics following the course, with increased communication and they felt more equipped to look after the precious wellbeing of their employees.

We asked Natalie what the future holds for EF training, “We plan to continually grow our client base, move into many different industries and maintain our expertise and excellence with our writing and delivery of our training, whilst constantly being aware of the needs of our clients. We will be collaborating more with other organisations/charities involved in wellbeing.”

“We are a truly passionate and driven team, who are dedicated to getting our vital training to all who need it.”

In comparison, the competition will typically need up to four vehicles to transport a stage on site, saving on average 9,000 litres of transport fuel per year – that’s 24,000kg of CO2 fuel saved. As well as being environmentally efficient, the stages are also time efficient –needing around an hour to set up and the same time to pack away.

The Stage Bus has seen a sharp uptick in organisers actively seeking their services out due to their green credentials. With more and more events needing to meet green targets, The Stage Bus is helping many of them meet their objectives. In addition to being fuel efficient, solar-powered and using smart engineering, The Stage Bus continues their green ethos at their HQ, carrying out all repairs and maintenance in-house and operating a zero to landfill policy. They heat their office with waste timber and are in the process of powering their workshop by solar power. The team are also using their engineering knowhow to electrify one of their lorries as an additional option for greenconscious clients.

Myth, a drink that thinks outside of the bottle

My vision for Myth was to create a spirit style drink which could be the base of a simple serve or a more elaborate cocktail. I wanted to elevate a mocktail, a term which I particularly dislike as it suggests a child’s drink or something less than real, into a sober serve, relevant to the time and occasion it is being offered. I explored several options searching for a great flavour profile, versatility, fun and colour! It quite soon became apparent that Malibu was the epitome of this for me, holidays and sun-drenched beaches, sun downers and sandy toes. I wanted to translate this holiday vibe into a bottle and I believe myself and my team have achieved just that.

Sunny days don’t last forever

so when warm nights in by the fire began to call I wanted an expression of this for my glass to. Myth Dark Spiced is the perfect blend for a classic mix of cola or ginger or a bold adventure into an Espresso based cocktail. However you find your perfect serve lets raise a glass to friends and smiles.

Dedicated to excellence: The rise of Directto-Film printing

In this issue of Products & Services Review, we are delighted to select Inkfuse DTF as our Direct to Film (DTF) printing Company of the Month.

Direct-to-film (DTF) printing is a new technique on the market, which has already grown in popularity across the industry. It was the talk of the town at this year’s Printwear & Promotion Live Expo, back in February. Suppliers and customers alike love the

Inkfuse DTF is one such company that impressed attendees looking to purchase DTF printing equipment at this year’s Printwear & Promotion Live Expo. The West Yorkshire company prides itself on exceptional product knowledge and customer service, offering transfers, printers, consumables to printer repairs.

The company was formed during the first COVID-19 Lockdown and has grown exponentially as co-owner Richard Mitchell explains, “The company started as a vinyl cutter and cheap heat press during the first Lockdown by my fiancée Sabina. We soon evolved from a few single colour t-shirts, to full colour DTF transfers.

We are based in West Yorkshire, with a production unit and a separate show room. The company is now growing rapidly each month, with more and more staff needed. We have two print operators, two office staff for arranging artwork and customer questions and two expert-engineers for printer installations and repairs.”

the DTF transfers and consumables, with additional next day delivery for those last minute, rush jobs. All our printers are all hand-delivered with full onsite training and continued support.”

Customers are inclined to agree, with glowing 4.5-star reviews such as these, “Goes above and beyond. Superman couldn’t deliver quicker.”

print quality, proving an excellent choice for printing photos, colourful designs, graphics to fine art onto light and dark coloured-polyester, cotton, nylon and fleece. The main advantage is that the ink doesn’t absorb into the fabric, but is simply pressed on top, in a thin-like, smooth, almost-elastic, robust layer. The print finish is resistant to cracking, throughout washing processes and has proven product longevity.

“The role of the company is to establish strong and influential relationships with our DTF community, to support and guide as well to train the customers on using the DTF printers.”

“We like to believe that our knowledgeable engineers and the customer service we offer, is our superpower. We have the fastest turnround on the DTF transfer market, offering same-day shipping on

Even customers who were unsure about the merits of DTF printing, were soon won over, “A brilliant, fast and efficient service. I was sceptical about the new DTF technology, having never used it before. I currently have print t-shirts using the cutting vinyl method but after ordering a sample print for some of my garments, I am extremely impressed. I can now offer my clients more options when printing on garments. I placed the order and had the prints the next day. I will certainly be using your service from now on.”

The launch of the 40cm gravity ace i3200 printer and 40cm Astro Ace printer, has been highly popular with customers across the UK. The cutting-edge printers offer DTF transfers for a wide range of fabrics, including leather, wood and canvas. The two-head printing system comes fully calibrated, with comprehensive training given on the printer and software.

Inkfuse DTF is on a roll and is planning on introducing UV DTF in the near future, which is the next big-thing in the industry. Accessing the latest, advanced technology, the company will soon be offering its customers an upload platform called: Gangr – built for DTF print shops by DTF users. Looking further to the future, the team want to create an in-house consumable brand and expand sales into the international market.
