Calabrio has announced the acquisition of Echo AI, a generative AI-native conversation intelligence platform. It is the next strategic step in Calabrio’s commitment to providing contact centres with the latest innovative solutions through near-time conversation insights that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. With the global customer experience management (CXM) market projected to grow from $19 billion in 2024 to $43 billion by 2029, Echo AI’s technology will provide automated quality management with 100% customization and bolster Calabrio’s offerings in customer experience (CX) intelligence and agent performance coaching, providing a deeper view into customer interactions and optimising human and bot performance.
Echo AI’s technology analyses every customer conversation across multiple channels, including calls, tickets, surveys and reviews, turning them into opportunities to increase conversions, improve bot and agent interactions, reduce costs, and reveal new business opportunities. By deploying a unique pipeline of large language models (LLMs), the technology analyses millions of data points and delivers insights that drive customer retention, operational efficiency and growth. “Calabrio believes AI is the cornerstone of innovation in the contact centre,” said Dave Rhodes, CEO of Calabrio. “The Echo AI acquisition reflects our ongoing investment in solutions that enable automation, improve quality management and provide precise data to inform decisions. Eschenbach is a municipality in the constituency of See-Gaster in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland, serving several local villages. Since 2019, the municipal council have been researching and planning a means to communicate and share information to residents, tourists and people passing through. After Covid delays, the project finally started at the end of 2023, encompassing the installation of digital signage information boards that would serve as vibrant urban hubs for community engagement. The digital boards would be strategically situated in seven high traffic locations in and around the villages and their gateways to reach a broad audience with targeted messaging and acting as community hubs to inform visitors on local events and news.
Eschenbach municipal council approached full-service marketing agency and reseller KundenMarketing GmbH and its digital signage division Spots On Screen to be the partner on this community project. The reseller has been operating in the field of digital information boards in Switzerland for over a decade and offer tailor-made indoor and outdoor solutions for a wide range of applications. Several options were proposed for an outdoor display that would seamlessly integrate into a specially designed structure by the customer made of visually striking stone baskets with metal plates. The final design proposal had to be approved by the canton and cantonal traffic police. One of the key objectives was that the display must be eye catching, bright and easy to read and, most importantly, durable to withstand all-weather conditions, especially in the coldest Swiss winter months.
Peerless-AV’s 55” Xtreme™ High Bright Outdoor Displays (XHB554-EUK) were chosen as the as the digital signage solution that would allow KundenMarketing to take its information boards to the next level and create a truly impressive visual presence in the heart of the municipality. “As a trusted reseller, we understand the importance of offering clients the best possible solutions. Peerless-AV was our clear choice for urban signage thanks to its unmatched outdoor durability, brilliant brightness, and design integration at a competitive price point, “said Daniel Behrendt, CEO, KundenMarketing GmbH.
Peerless-AV’s 55” Xtreme High Bright Outdoor Displays (XHB554-EUK) were chosen as the as the digital signage solution that would allow KundenMarketing to take its information boards to the next level and create a truly impressive visual presence in the heart of the municipality.
In the case of the Peerless-AV Xtreme displays, three key factors influenced the company’s decision:
•Unmatched Durability: Peerless-AV outdoor displays are renowned for their exceptional IP66 and IK10-rated, fully sealed construction quality and ability to withstand harsh outdoor environments. They offer the widest operating temperature range in the industry (-35° to +60°C), are fan cooled to address heat build-up or thermal load and have a patented thermal exhaust system to keep internal components cool. This functionality ensures a reliable performance and a long lifespan, minimising future maintenance needs.
•Flawless Visuals: Delivering stunning Full-HD resolution, these displays provide a captivating viewing experience for the community. Offering 2500nits of light output, reducing glare when used in direct sunlight or bright-lit conditions. The displays also feature optical
bonding, which eliminates the air gap between the glass and the panel, thereby greatly reducing reflection and refraction in direct sunlight. The clarity and vibrancy of the visuals are crucial for effectively engaging the target audience.
•Seamless Integration: The compatibility of Peerless-AV Xtreme displays with the chosen external 4K media players facilitated a streamlined setup process and ensured smooth content playout. This ease of use was a major factor for KundenMarketing and the customer.
The Peerless-AV Xtreme displays and media players were sourced from Swiss distributor MobilePro. Installation of the first information boards began in late 2023 and the project is still in progress. So far, six out of eight information boards have been set up across the municipality. The Xtreme outdoor displays impressed with their straightforward setup. Installing one display within the housing took approximately an hour, including configuration and testing. Despite having underground cabling and players, connectivity was quick, and the displays were ready for immediate use.
Eschenbach municipal council utilises KundenMarketing’s cloud-based software to update content effortlessly from anywhere. Wireless internet connection is provided via cellular routers in the region. This allows maximum flexibility for the reseller in the delivery of a complete end-to-end solution, from expert planning and hardware/software integration to content delivery. They also provide ongoing support and training to empower the customer to manage the impact of the digital information boards effectively in the long term. Daniel

Behrendt continued, “The key to effective content is achieving audience connection and engagement at the right time and place, to create a lasting visual impression. Audiences need to know what they are looking at is relevant and timely or their interest will wane. With our cloud software and our experience in marketing, customers can take the lead in managing the digital infoboards, ensure the effective customisation and delivery of dynamic content, animations, scheduled and detailed messaging and real-time updates.”
As of September 2024, the six installed digital information boards grace the outdoor landscape of Eschenbach, captivating onlookers with their vibrant Full-HD displays. Their sleek and functional design is perfectly suited for outdoor environments, already demonstrating their durability, enduring one winter with freezing temperatures and snow, as well as a summer of high heat. The 55” Xtreme displays are positioned in landscape orientation to maximise viewing comfort and enhance the overall visual impact.
Daniel Behrendt concluded, “We’re continuously evaluating future opportunities to expand our partnership with Peerless-AV and explore how their innovative products can further enhance our clients’ visual communication goals. We’re committed to tailoring future collaborations based on evolving client needs and market trends. We’re excited to explore new possibilities with Peerless-AV, keeping the market informed about cutting-edge solutions for enhanced digital signage experiences.”
this instance by John Ferrante, led the installation at TED’s New York production facility, configuring an endto-end system that supports TED’s complex communication needs.
The installation introduced the Arcadia Central Station, upgraded to the latest firmware release, and included an extensive suite of FreeSpeak II digital wireless products,
IP transceivers, wireless belt packs, and remote connectivity through Clear-Com’s Gen-IC virtual intercom. As part of the upgrade, TED also transitioned from its legacy analogue wired intercom to HelixNet Digital Network Partyline System. This configuration allows TED’s production team to streamline on-demand communication across multiple teams, making it adaptable for both live shows and distributed production workflows.
TED’s Head of Production, Mina Sabet, identified the need for the best intercom technology on the market to match TED’s world-class production standards and cutting-edge content delivery. “We needed the best communications tool to handle our fast paced, high stakes events in our home office theater in New York City. There was no question Clear-Com was the best solution” said Sabet. The heart of TED’s new communication system integrates seamlessly with TED’s existing network, allowing Clear-Com equipment to connect with other audio systems across the venue with minimal latency and pristine audio fidelity. Integrated IP and Dante-enabled channels further expand TED’s ability to manage communication in real time. This setup enables TED to retain established communication flows, while introducing the flexibility and scalability of Arcadia as they gradually transition to this new infrastructure.
Gen-IC adds a new level of remote connectivity to TED’s operations. Six IVC links connect remote team members directly into TED’s on-site Arcadia infrastructure, delivering seamless integration between remote and local team members. This functionality is facilitated by an LQ Series IP Interfaces connected to the GenIC Cloud, which provides TED’s production team with dynamic control over remote and local communication channels. Gen-IC’s capability to integrate remote users easily has been transformative for TED’s production, allowing the organization to remain agile while maintaining high standards in audio quality.
Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL, was looking to upgrade their out-of-date sound system, so they turned to Seth Daniel, Founder and CEO of The Daniel Group, located in nearby Florence, AL. Daniel sought out Meyer Sound to assist in the design and engineering of a loudspeaker system to help enhance the worship experience for the members of the church. Daniel recalls, “We just started the conversation with ‘Hey we need to get this room straight.’ It was a clarity issue, there were some coverage issues, it was kind of a mixed bag of things. The idea was to improve the overall audio quality in the room: better intelligibility, better coverage, and more power. They were really concerned with the low end in the room.”
The church was in phase two of a multi-stage update to various buildings within their campus. Justin Crisp, media director for Whitesburg Baptist Church details, “While the new sound system was not actually part of the plan, it was something that we were able to do to en-

hance the plan, for us to clearly spread the Word within our facility.” The church typically holds two services per Sunday; one is more traditional, with a 135-member choir and a 30-piece orchestra, and the other is more contemporary with a six-or seven-piece band and six praise singers. However, Daniel added, “With the old configuration there was a lot of low frequency build up over the stage area that was causing some issues, especially for the choir.” Crisp explains, “The old system was 15 years old. It was time to take that system and retire it and go into something new. Which brought us to the Meyer Sound system. We demoed quite a few different systems, and the LEOPARD rig was what we felt was the best for us.”
The new system comprises a number of Meyer Sound solutions including LEOPARD compact linear line array loudspeakers, configured 10 per side as a left-right main system. Fill systems consist of ULTRA-X22XP compact narrow coverage loudspeakers for the balcony, UPQ-D2 full-sized narrow coverage loudspeakers for side coverage and one UPQ-D1 full-sized loudspeaker serving as a centre, down fill. ULTRA-X20XP loudspeakers are deployed as front-fill loudspeakers across the lip of the stage. Handling the critical low-frequency content are six 2100-LFC low-frequency control elements, hung three next to each LEOPARD array in a cardioid configuration. Two MJF-208 high power stage monitors rest on the platform, and two Galileo GALAXY 816 Network Platforms are used to drive the system.
Daniel said, “We replaced the existing system with the LEOPARD system which we chose for its size and performance. The 2100-LFC were chosen because we had to fly the subs and still needed to have a substan-

The client was adamant that they have plenty of headroom in the low frequencies, so the 2100-LFCs in cardioid configuration to get the low-end energy out into the room, and not over the stage, were the only option for that.”Adequate coverage to the extreme side areas was another target for the new system. “We had a vision for what we were looking for as far as what the system needed to accomplish and the main thing was to have the congregation hear everything clearly without having hotspots or dead spots,” said Crisp. The worship centre seats approximately 2,000 people. From overhead, it looks like an octagon elongated on two opposite sides, with the platform on one elongated side, and the control area under the balcony directly across the room from stage. The seating areas extend around the remaining sides of the room, with the balcony situated above the main seating area.
Meyer Sound’s MAPP 3Dsystem design and prediction tool was used to model the configuration and behaviour of the system prior to it being installed. Dean Bailey, Director of Engineering from the Daniel Group worked closely with the Meyer Sound Design Services team on the system design. Crisp said, “We showed the leadership the MAPP drawings to let them see what they would be getting and what the coverage was going to be in the room.” Daniel commented, “The installation was pretty straightforward. The old system was removed and replaced with the new one within a week. It was our goal to give the Whitesburg team time to have rehearsals on the new system, and then unveil it to the congregation.”
The brief for the publicly funded construction work was exceptionally detailed, with high expectations. St Hedwig’s is benefitting from a complete renewal, the new look reflecting the cathedral’s history. The nave sees big changes, whilst the original interior layout returns, but now with seating in the round. The aesthetic is clean and simple with white walls, clean lines, and minimal internal details - with strictly no option for visible loudspeakers. Circular in shape, with a 30-meter diameter, the central space rises to a dome that peaks at a total height of 33 meters. The huge parabolic space has renowned acoustics for music and is well-suited for performances from the Klais Opus organ. For spoken word, however, the reverb times negatively impact intelligibility and the echo bouncing back to the altar in the centre posed a considerable challenge.
Sichau & Walter Architects, who won the redesign contract back in 2014, required an invisible solution that would solve these issues while being flexible enough to adapt to the variety of choral, concert, and spoken word content as their Founding Partner, Peter Sichau, expands: “Worship architecture fundamentally differs from secular architecture, because its primary purpose is to create a framework, so that the celebrant, in this case the priest, can deliver mass in a way that offers worshipers a religious experience,” he says. “Our methodology required the architecture and the space to be recognizable solely by the atmosphere and the acoustic of the space, which is very complex and challenging in this case.”
The HOLOPLOT team modelled various design options that could meet this exacting brief. As Jakob Greif, HOLOPLOT Applications Engineer and technical lead for the project, explains, the final system design is a true example of working with a building to achieve the very best for the whole community. “Circular buildings are not new to HOLOPLOT, but the difference here was the position of the altar and therefore main microphone positions. Having spoken word coming from the centre of the space, with the audience ‘in-the-round’ and no possibility of adding localized loudspeakers, created a unique situation we had to try and solve.” To address the space’s positional challenges and 6.5-second reverberation time, Greif and the HOLOPLOT team designed a system based on the X2 Matrix Array.
X2 is HOLOPLOT’s compact Matrix Array loudspeaker, equipped with power over ethernet, enabling it to
receive audio and control signals, and power through a single cable, simplifying installation and, in combination with the unit’s slim profile, enabling flush mounting. These features allow the arrays to disappear behind custom screens, in narrow, recessed wall cavities, so as to not interfere with the building’s smooth, mute coloured lines, something that was very important to the project. X2’s size and rotation flexibility enabled the team to utilize the modules in a variety of positions, including fixed in portrait orientation behind the main columns. 3D Audio-Beamforming then solved the positional issues created by having the altar located centrally, as Greif continues: “We have hidden 22 MD30 units behind perforated panels,” he says. “The arrays are fixed in only three locations and deliver unique coverage zones that disregard the highly reflective surfaces of the cathedral. 3D Audio-Beamforming and our optimization algorithms not only allow us to create a circular, rounded beam but also to split the direct throw, avoiding the altar microphone in the centre of the nave and raising the gain before feedback threshold.”
“Our priests will finally be able to speak comfortably at the altar and that is possible thanks to the way HOLOPLOT has designed the active beams,” notes Johannes Rogge, Technical and Media Integration Lead for the St Hedwig project. “I am really impressed by how that works - to be able to hear the difference just by moving a few meters, is amazing.”
“The technical team for the cathedral is staffed by volunteers, so it was essential to provide a system that was not intimidating to use,” says Greif. “We have created a range of different presets that can be accessed to support any type of performance, as well as supporting the priest delivering mass or sermons. We also included a preset for exciting the nave’s natural acoustic which will give a much more musical result, elevating the spiritual feel of a choral performance. The result is something we are really proud of, and we hope the community of Berlin will be proud of it, too.”
Scottish hospitality operator, The DRG, has opened the seventh outpost of their popular tapas restaurant, Cafe Andaluz in the Stockbridge neighbourhood of Edinburgh. With the opening coinciding with the 21st birthday of the first Cafe Andaluz, Tony Conetta, director of The DRG, wanted this venue to be extra special. Interior designer Jelena Kerr and DesignLSM, were entrusted with bringing to life the Moorish and Andalusian inspired interior whilst Nadar Shahzad of Blue Audio was tasked with deploying a complementary audio system to play out the bespoke flamenco-tinged dining soundtrack. Audio quality and aesthetics were of equal importance in the project, so the choice of loudspeakers was crucial. It was somewhat fortuitous that when the project landed with Blue Audio, they were in discussions with CUK Group to become one of the first 1 SOUND partners in the UK. Nadar Shahzad explains “when I saw
the mood boards produced for the interiors of the new restaurant, I knew that the 1 SOUND Cannon series would be the ideal match due to their compact size and the customisation options available”. A demo of the 1 SOUND products at CUK Group’s East Kilbride facility convinced Tony that they would provide the superior audio quality he wanted for the venue whilst visual samples of the loudspeakers and different finishes available ensured Jelena and her team were satisfied that the loudspeakers would fit with the aesthetics.
The system deployed consisted of the smallest C4i loudspeaker finished in off-white paint with a gold fabric grille; compact WSUB45 subwoofers were carefully concealed out of view to extend the low frequency response. Another first for Blue Audio was their use of Powersoft’s Dynamic Music Distribution (DMD) ecosystem as a complete amplification, routing and control solution. Two MEZZO 604AD amplifiers are networked along with a WM Touch 4.3” wall controller and a Bluetooth wall plate for local audio input.
Nadar says “the decision to use DMD was based on a couple of different factors; first was the simplicity of being able to set up the complete audio and control system using a single piece of software, Powersoft’s ArmoníaPlus. Secondly, we had limited rack space available and with the two MEZZO amplifiers only taking up a total of 1U of rack space when mounted side-by-side, this was a big saving over a traditional solution using a separate zone mixer with different amplifiers for my tops, subs and 100V line speakers.”

The Porsche Centre in Friedrichshafen is the latest project by the Autohaus Bauschatz & Gerstenmaier group. It is a visionary car dealership, based on the futuristic Destination Porsche retail concept. It represents the future of automotive retail featuring modular indoor spaces, the Porscheplatz as central lounge area and a transparent workshop separated by glass walls, where customers can observe the work being done on their sports cars. In the Porsche Centre Friedrichshafen architecture and light fuse into one dynamic space of emotions, allowing customers to delve into the world of Porsche. Light is not only used to illuminate the room but as a powerful and precise tool to structure the space, create emotions and strengthen the brand identity. The Destination Porsche project offers a platform to push the limits of conventional lighting design. The involved architecture firm Dienberg Architekten GmbH, the lighting designer Licht + Plan GmbH from Kirchheim near Munich and the shop fitter Oberhaizinger Corporate Design GmbH use light as a retail tool and realise innovative concepts. The lighting in this outstanding Porsche showroom comes from LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH located in Tettnang in the Lake Constance region. The powerful rear of the Porsche convertible is perfectly presented using lighting accents to show every contour and line. Porsche is the epitome of dynamics and elegance, and this brand DNA is made both visible and tangible. The global Destination Porsche concept focuses on people and their interaction with the brand.
Based on this approach, LTS uses sophisticated lighting solutions that turn every room into a stage where each and every detail of the Porsche cars are perfectly presented. Lighting is used to direct attention to the cars‘ distinctive lines and high-quality materials, thereby enhancing the perception of their dynamic design. Glare-free lighting solutions in the service area create a functional yet inviting environment to make visitors and staff feel comfortable. The invisible integration of the CSA Downlights from LTS provides a consistent interior design that subtly highlights the architecture. Architects and lighting designers know that flexibility is key to a successful room concept. LTS offers exactly that – the freedom to accommodate the constantly changing requirements in the showroom. The LTS spotlights Jett and Jamie, the StraitLine light line and the CSA Downlights are not only designed for exact colour rendering with a CRI of over 90, but also feature DALI control to seamlessly adapt the lighting atmosphere. LTS light transforms rooms and perfectly dovetails with the changing exhibitions in the modular Porsche showroom. The powerful presence of the Porsche is accentuated using precise lighting that makes the car shine like a piece of art. The focus is on the details emphasising the vehicle’s sporty legacy and elegance. Lighting is used to create separate areas and a visible structure. Be it dramatic lighting to highlight certain vehicle features or discreet basic lighting for an inviting atmosphere –any requirements can be met with LTS solutions.
Light is the invisible element giving life and an emotional dimension to a room. In the Porsche Centre Friedrichshafen, LTS lighting creates a fascinating atmosphere making the Porsche way of life tangible: luxury, vibrancy, exclusivity. The carefully selected interior not only makes the facility beautiful but creates a feeling of exclusivity and superior comfort: a place where customers and guests feel welcome, love to stay and get inspired. The central Porscheplatz becomes a place of encounter, a place for conversations and relaxation. This fusion of light and architecture invites visitors to delve into the world of Porsche. What makes this lighting design so attractive for architects and lighting designers is the symbiosis of technology and emotions. The technical possibilities provided by LTS make the room shine and allow visitors to fully immerse in this experience that holds more than visual impressions.
The customer areas in the Porsche Centre represent important stations matching the various phases of the purchasing process: They provide the perfect environment for all stages – from the initial, informative conversation to the final car configuration. Open customer assistance zones in the showroom, such as the Porscheplatz, focus on first touchpoints. This is an inviting area where customers can get inspired and gather first impressions. The more intense conversations and detailed car configurations take place in the more exclusive and discreet meeting room. The look-and-feel experience is key in this context: Customers touch materials and select colours. Each of the areas are optimally illuminated with tailor-made LTS lighting. Light creates a welcoming
atmosphere and supports the decision-making process by clearly highlighting details and nuances. A clear, open space, optimised acoustics and a well-chosen level of privacy ensure that each assistance area offers the perfect environment for authentic conversations with the customer.
Precise light control in the meeting rooms separated by glass walls ensure both an inviting and intimate atmosphere, at the same time providing the perfect environment for exclusive customer conversations. Acoustic privacy is guaranteed, but the glass walls still make one feel part of the showroom where the Porsche cars, the objects of desire, are presented. The glass walls in the office area allow for an open-space interior design where light can freely flood the hallways and rooms. The sophisticated lighting enhances this effect, providing a bright and consistent ambience and generating a quiet, productive working environment at the same time. A perfect balance between openness and visibility on the one hand and acoustic privacy on the other.
The combination of daylight and precise LTS lighting in the material and equipment lounge creates an environment where interior design samples come into their own: Colours, shapes and small nuances are presented authentically and right down to the last detail. Both customers and staff feel comfortable with this harmonious synergy of architecture and light. In the exclusive configuration room, customers can experience the entire range of available materials and equipment for their Porsche. Precise lighting brings out the splendour of leather, paint and metal samples so that all colours and textures are perfectly presented, with all their details and nuances. Customers can not just see the surfaces but actually touch them, which makes their choice both a visual and haptic experience. The combination of perfect lighting and high-quality materials creates an environment that makes the decision-making process a pleasant and inspiring moment.
Val Thorens’ renowned nightclub, Malaysia, has undergone a spectacular €2.5 million transformation to become Malaysia 2.0, all thanks to video installation overhaul featuring SMODE’s real-time compositing and media server platform. This upgrade has slalomed the iconic venue into a next-level sensory experience, offering ski resort visitors a club experience like never before. Perched at an altitude of 2,310m, The Malaysia club, established by Jean-Pierre Roux in 1985, is open seven days a week for the entire winter season. Dubbed the biggest dance floor in the Alps, it attracts around 700,000 people per season, hosting over 2,000 partygoers every night for live concerts and DJ sets. After almost four decades, the venue needed a “facelift” to create a unique identity using digital art to stand out in the aprèsski scene.
The transformation of Malaysia, spearheaded by the integrator Kinesik, involved developing a complete 3D
model of the club to simulate the layout of the LED screens and the flow of visuals. SMODE video operator at Club Malaysia, Jessy Laurent, explains: “SMODE played an important role in identifying all surfaces before and during the integration of the LED screens.” Laurent collaborated closely with Erwan Tehel, product specialist at Smode Tech and Armand Béraud and Martin Hance from Salut la Compagnie, who led the project’s design before the installation. Throughout the project, Erinn Guillon, from Positive Films as well as Julien Bedane and Tarik el Maarouf, who were responsible for technical direction, played a vital role in coordinating with Alexandre Buge, CTO at Smode Tech, ensuring smooth execution of the entire project.
The 3D model, which was worked on with virtual headsets, enabled precise planning and mapping, making the complex process of screen positioning and content synchronisation easier. The SMODE media server’s support for 3D environments, including modelling, texturing and mapping, proved ideal for creating a virtual set for the nightclub. Laurent highlights the importance of the 3D stage environments in projects like Malaysia: “It saves valuable time during setup and encoding stages, allowing external devices to be methodically organised within SMODE’s hierarchy, making it easy to locate
elements at any time.” The creation and modification of generative elements are quick and efficient, even during a short DJ residency.
From the moment guests step into the 1000sqm festive chalet, they are greeted with LED panels covering the ceiling, walls and pillars, creating an immersive atmosphere where stunning visuals move and change with the music. Smode Tech’s SMODE media server is the brain behind the operation, ensuring visuals are always in sync with the high-energy music coming from the club’s sound system. The lighting effects are subtle and perceptible, never ostentatious and immersion is fully realised in certain scenes, makingthe venue unique and timeless.
SMODE’s real-time capabilities shine during live performances. The media server enables Malaysia’s operators to tweak media content dynamically, responding to the audience’s energy as the night progresses. “SMODE manages generative graphic content adapted in real-time for dynamic effects,” explains Laurent. He also adds that one of the reasons the team chose SMODE because of the “incredible” creative control: “The ability to adjust visuals on-the-fly is essential for a nightclub, where the atmosphere is constantly changing and SMODE allows us to capture that energy and play off it,
creating a truly immersive experience.” Colour palettes, strobes and other visual elements are synchronised with the GrandMA console to deliver dynamic effects. All media is displayed on a Streamdeck using real-time screenshots, while XTouch controller manages dynamic VJ effects. Both are adjusted in real-time to match the BPM (beats per minute). SMODE handles generative graphic content, ensuring adaptability — crucial in a nightclub setting, where no two nights are the same and the mood can change in an instant.
After 30 years in the AV industry, Royce Lye, MD of BenQ UK & Ireland has witnessed plenty of change throughout his career. A large chunk of that has been seen in his time with BenQ, a journey that started almost 20 years ago.
When Lye joined Acer’s peripherals division as Marketing Manager for UK & Ireland in 2002, the company were looking to rebrand to build new channels that weren’t necessarily tied into its original parent, Acer Group. Lye was tasked with overseeing the rebrand to BenQ: “I knew the channel well and how to rebrand a company. We were an IT company then, not AV at all, and I had a background in IT. I thought I’d be spending a year, yearand-a-half tops, helping to rebrand from Acer to BenQ. Almost 25 years later, and I’m still here.”
After 7 years of nurturing and growing the BenQ brand, in 2009 Lye took over the UK projector business which sat at around 2 percent market share. After restructuring channel partnerships, recruiting more team members, and driving the PR message home, the product and brand awards started to flood in, and Lye stepped up to Sales & Marketing Director in 2011. In 2013, BenQ hit 10 percent market share, and by 2015, had achieved a record 17 percent.
During this period, Lye took a trip to the Far East in China and discovered a product that he thought would totally change both the AV and education industries: “The big diversification for us in product was interactive flat panels. It was a product BenQ had started to manufacture, but we hadn’t yet looked at introducing it to the
European market. We discussed when it might go into education and tied up a deal with a distributor.”
In 2013, BenQ’s interactive touchscreen products were launched in the UK and the UK quickly becaome the largest country for BenQ in interactive touch globally. Over the next 5 years, Lye rose to Executive Director UK & Ireland, and then to General Manager, overseeing a team that had now grown to contain 28 sales and marketing professionals. In 2014-2016, BenQ became the number three projector brand and doubled its market share in the first twelve months, and in 2016, the brand was number one for 1080p projection. Lye was also selected as the one of the AV Industry’s most influential 100 people in the 2017-2010 AV100 in recognition of his passion and commitment to the industry.
In 2019, Lye became Managing Director for UK and Ireland, just one year before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like most other industries around the world, the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns meant that BenQ faced uncertainty. Lockdowns meant that traditional in-person learning was no longer possible, which led to around half of the company’s education business disappearing overnight. The tried and tested stories and solutions were no longer applicable to the market and Lye quickly realised that the key to solving their issue was to diversify to cover more bases.
The company also had a range of workplace technology solutions such as monitors that they were already selling into the market, and with the steep rise in remote work, the demand for these was higher than ever before. Lye and his team worked hard to transition into digital selling, and workplace solutions helped to plug the gap left by education.
In recent years, Lye’s focus has been on developing the relationships with the company’s channel partners. Other companies may be content to have a simple, transactional relationship with their channel, but Lye has always strongly believed that this should never be the case: “It’s about designing, positioning and how you look after your channel. One thing we’ve added with the team here is to work with our channel partners whether they’re a reseller, distributor, we treat everyone closely.”
As a result, the relationship that his team have created with channel partners goes well beyond transactional and is a true partnership in every sense of the word. From pre-sales support and excellent after-care to regular training and events, BenQ UK has built a partnership that works to deliver results for both sides. When asked about his plans for the future, continuing to develop the partnership with channel partners was near the top of his list, with a goal of moving the channel closer to the end user, while maintaining channel strategy. Another key focus is on developing a go-to-market
strategy across all products - not restricted by traditional markets or strategies – to ensure stability and structure for the brand in years to come.
Looking back through his career and time at BenQ, it would be easy to think that Lye’s proudest accomplishment would be winning the AV News Outstanding Achievement in AV 2023, however: “My biggest achievement is my team. Seeing the team and individuals develop and grow within the company and the wider industry, and having the opportunity to help them on their way has been so rewarding. I’m proud to have such a fantastic, multi award-winning team, and we have some real talent that we’ll continue to nurture for years to come.”
announced!

PPDS has announced the launch of Philips ScreenShare –a comprehensive new all-in-one presentation software solution, delivering seamless and unrestricted secure wireless content sharing and connected experiences.
plays range unveiled earlier this year – Philips ScreenShare effortlessly transforms any teaching or meeting space into a fully secure, inclusive, and connected environment, without any additional hardware.
Pre-installed on all new Philips Collaboration BDL3152E and BDL4152E interactive displays, and available for download via PPDS Wave on existing models, Philips ScreenShare offers near-universal compatibility, connectivity, and inclusivity, overcoming many common complexities, limitations, and frustrations experienced with other comparable content sharing solutions. A fully GDPR-compliant solution, developed in collaboration with DisplayNote, whose software was used in over 300,000 classrooms and powering over 15 million screen shares in 2023 – Philips ScreenShare embraces BYOD, allowing the presenter (screen controller) and up to 100 participants to simultaneously connect and share content directly on the main display using their own personal device.
Adopting a tech-agnostic approach and ensuring maximum inclusivity and equality, Philips ScreenShare’s flexibility supports content sharing from any device, connected to any network (LAN, Wi-Fi, mobile) and running on any operating system. This includes devices on Windows, Mac, iOS, iPadOS, ChromeOS, or Android, with AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast also
supported, for effortless usability. Frank Trossen, Global Business Development Director Education and Corporate at PPDS, commented: “With Philips ScreenShare, we have removed all obstacles to ensure every single person in the room has an equal voice and opportunity to contribute, whether that’s in a classroom, a meeting room, or the boardroom. Even the quietest person can enjoy their share of voice and present with confidence with Philips ScreenShare.”
Utilising extensive market feedback, Philips ScreenShare requires almost no training, with even the least tech-savvy able to easily use and understand the solution. This includes extensive control and management of what is shared, when, and by whom. Up and running within seconds, helping classes to run smoothly and on time, presenters simply open the Philips ScreenShare app on the Philips interactive display, which will automatically reveal a unique six-digit code. Unused codes are automatically refreshed after thirty minutes and at the end of every session, with all connected devices being disconnected to avoid potential unauthorised access.
Upon entering the code into the Philips ScreenShare app or web browser on their own device, the presenter has the freedom to remotely control, manage, and wirelessly present their lesson plans – supporting all file types – directly on the Philips Professional Display from anywhere in the room, with the technology in the room doing all the heavy lifting. Participants in the room simply connect to the display using the same process, with all content immediately shared and broadcast on their device in real-time, offering the perfect front-row view wherever they’re sitting.
To encourage and facilitate effortless collaboration, presenters can seamlessly connect and disconnect specific devices/individuals at any moment, providing them with the opportunity to wireless present and broadcast their screens on the main display. For enhanced group interactivity, Philips ScreenShare features ‘GridView’ and ‘extended GridView’ allowing up to nine devices to connect and broadcast at the same time. Further extending and complementing existing out-of-the-box features pre-installed on Philips Collaboration Displays, SceenShare also includes Annotation Mode and a Whiteboard, letting presenters and selected participants draw and add markings over the top of the content being displayed. Helping to keep the room engaged at all times, and to reduce potentially distracting notetaking, all content presented can be saved, with a shared items folder acting as a central repository for files and links shared during the session. Even those absent can quickly catch up anytime and anywhere with Philips ScreenShare. Ed Morgan, COO of DisplayNote, said: “We are delighted that PPDS has chosen to augment their Philips Professional Displays with this customised version of DisplayNote’s screen sharing software. Working together we believe this combination will make life easier for the world’s presenters and teachers. In addition to every feature you would expect from a modern wireless casting solution, at DisplayNote we add value through our approach to connectivity, security, and support, which
we believe will be of great benefit to their users”.
Siddarth Gopal, Global Director Software Solutions at PPDS, commented: “Technology should be open to all, with no individual left behind. At PPDS, we work hard to remove all the complexities and restrictions experienced by some of the other solutions in the market, ensuring maximum inclusivity and productivity, whatever the environment. With Philips ScreenShare, we are facilitating the freedom for people to present how they want, and for participants to broadcast their views instantly and securely. With twenty-eight languages and extensive controls and other capabilities, collaboration is made simple or effective.”
Frank Trossen concluded: “Philips ScreenShare, paired with our evolving range of Philips Collaboration displays, and requiring no costly additional hardware or networks, creates what we believe to be one of the most secure, cost-efficient and feature-rich propositions in the current market. We are incredibly excited about the opportunities Philips ScreenShare will provide current and future generations.”

Users can effortlessly register multiple content types, such as still images and videos, create playlists, and schedule daily, monthly, or even yearly timetables with ease. With this new software, the FMP50 Series becomes a pow-
erful solution for projects requiring multiple projectors, whether used independently or combined to create immersive environments. This combination provides unmatched flexibility and precision, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.
The FMP50 Series of media processors, launched earlier in the year, include two box-type devices (ET-FMP50/ FMP20) and an Intel® SDM specification slot-compatible function board (ET-SBFMP10). Tailored specifically for large multi-projection environments, the FMP50 and FMP20 models are a compact form factor for installation near Panasonic projectors to reduce cabling, or for use in a standard rack with an optional rack mounting kit. LG Electronics (LG) has unveiled its renewed 2025 QNED evo lineup, featuring new proprietary wide colour gamut technology, a true wireless viewing experience that transmits 4K 144Hz1 images without loss of picture quality or delay, AI-enhanced picture and sound processing, and an ultra-personalized AI-based customer experience via webOS 25. LG continues to strengthen its competitiveness in the global premium TV market through a dual-track strategy. This strategy emphasizes LG’s market-leading, self-emissive OLED lineup and the QNED evo series – a premium LCD TV lineup that incorporates key OLED innovations, such as advanced AI capabilities and wireless convenience.
The 2025 QNED evo lineup boasts an improved colour gamut compared to previous models by applying LG’s new proprietary wide colour gamut technology, Dynamic QNED Color Solution, which replaces quantum dots. This unique technology enables light from the backlight to be expressed in pure colours that are as realistic as they appear to the eye in general life. With the application of Dynamic QNED Colour Solution, the entire 2025 QNED evo lineup is 100 percent certified by global testing and certification organization Intertek for Color Volume, measuring a screen’s ability to display the rich colours of original images without distortion.
In 2025, LG will also unveil the QNED evo (QNED9M) featuring its True Wireless 4K technology. This innovation, previously exclusive to the top-tier OLED evo model (M Series) last year, will now be available in the QNED evo lineup. This expansion allows viewers to enjoy high-definition 4K content wirelessly, without compromising on picture quality or experiencing delays, moving beyond the limitations of traditional wired connections.2 The wireless solution utilizes a separate Zero
Connect Box to transmit high-definition video at up to 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The QNED evo is designed to minimize screen disconnection and deliver natural images even in a wireless setup. Additionally, it has earned AMD FreeSync Premium certification. The TV itself requires only a power cord, allowing for more convenient storage of gaming consoles and set-top boxes.
The company additionally continues to raise the picture and sound quality of its QNED evo lineup by offering more powerful editions of its proprietary AI processors. 2025 LG QNED evo models are equipped with the 8 AI Processor, offering close to 70 percent improvement in AI performance compared to the previous year. This processor delivers picture and sound at a level worthy of ultra-large TVs. These AI capabilities include more advanced upscaling, analysing the filmmaker’s intent to adjust picture noise and presenting faces, objects, text and backgrounds more naturally. Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro breaks down each scene to fine-tune HDR effects and brightness for each zone. Moreover, AI converts 2-channel sound sources to virtual 9.1.2 channel sound for a richer audio experience. It also distinguishes voices from background sounds and makes them clearer, while audio sounds natural as if it were coming from the centre of the TV screen.
The new AI Magic Remote, included with the 2025 QNED evo, features a new AI button for easy analysis of viewing preferences and recommendations on what to watch and which apps to use. Personalization is further enhanced by Voice ID, Generative AI Gallery3 and customized TV picture and sound quality modes. A short press on the AI button guides users to relevant keywords and TV features, while a long press enables personalized searches based on a large language model (LLM4). For example, if a user is planning a trip to France, they can ask their remote, “Recommend movies to watch on my trip to Paris.” The AI will understand the context and suggest movies set in the French capital, including specific genre recommendations based on the user’s viewing preferences.
LG’s proprietary smart TV platform, webOS25, elevates the customer experience by offering hyper-personalized service advancements and content through its best-ofall-time AI features and the ongoing webOS Re:New Program, which includes webOS upgrades for five years. The 2025 QNED lineup will also now range from 40 to 100 inches as LG is expanding its QNED lineup by introducing a 100-inch option in response to customer demand for ultra-large, premium LCD TVs.
“Our renewed 2025 LG QNED evo lineup inherits OLED’s differentiated picture quality along with a true wireless viewing experience and ultra-personalized solutions to deliver an outstanding super-large viewing experience that no other LCD TV can offer,” said Hyoung-sei Park, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.
