Shure has scored a ‘major victory’ against product counterfeiters
Shure has collaborated with two other international audio equipment brands to address a network in China engaged in the large-scale manufacture and export of counterfeit products, including microphones, headphones, and amplifiers. In May 2023, Shure received information about a network of nine entities in China exporting counterfeit audio equipment to Southeast Asia. The network operated more than 80 separate online stores selling to customers in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines.
Shure, working through IP services business Rouse and its strategic partner firm, Lusheng, collaborated with two other audio equipment manufacturers to launch coordinated action against the counterfeit operation. China’s police force in the province, the Guangdong Province Public Security Bureau (PSB) launched simultaneous raids against the targets, seizing counterfeit products onsite at several locations in August 2023. The PSB investigated the trading company at the heart of the network and through careful forensics, discovered records showing more than $1.7 million USD in sales of counterfeit products from various international brands, including nearly $900,000 USD of counterfeit Shure products.
The case concluded in December 2024 with seven suspects sentenced to imprisonment ranging from two to four and a half years and fines totalling $1.1 million USD. Shure and one other participating brand also concluded settlement agreements with the suspects for considerable compensation: “We are grateful to China’s PSB, prosecutors, and courts for showing determination to fight these counterfeit crimes,” said Eric McAlpine, Shure’s Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. “Counterfeit products hurt everyone, including customers and authorised retailers, and we will continue to protect our brand from these illegal activities. Shure has been in business for 100 years and we want our customers to experience the quality of a genuine Shure product.”

PPDS sustainability impact award for hospitality AV
PPDS has announced its unparalleled efforts to inspire more sustainable business – from ultra-low energy digital signage, dvLEDs, and professional TVs, to 100 per cent recycled packaging and extended product lifetimes – has received one of only two special commendation awards at the TUI Sustainability Impact Awards 2025. Held this year on 10 March at the TUI HQ in Hannover, the TUI Sustainability Impact Awards was created to honour the outstanding initiatives and achievements of TUI suppliers in technology, indirect purchasing, cruises and airlines. Awards were presented in ‘People’, ‘Planet’ and ‘Progress’ categories, reflecting the key pillars of TUI’s Sustainability Agenda, while also creating a community of pioneers within TUI’s supplier network.
In a fiercely contested pool of approximately 100 entries, each being reviewed and evaluated by an internal jury chaired by TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel, PPDS was successfully named as an IT finalist in the TUI Sustainability Impact Awards Progress category. During a special ceremony, TUI – one of the world’s leading travel companies with over 20 million customers travelling to over 180 global destinations annually – praised PPDS for its holistic thinking, from the manufacturing of its solutions through to packaging, transportation, and extended product lifecycles. With sustainability a key pillar of PPDS’ global strategy, this holistic approach includes extensive R&D for energy efficient, modular, and repairable designs, as well as take back schemes to reduce waste, and the recently rebranded Philips Wave remote display management ecosystem, enabling savings on power, time, and fuel.
The judges were particularly enthusiastic about PPDS’ groundbreaking ultra-low energy 4K UHD Philips Signage 3650 EcoDesign display. With the range including a C rated European Energy Label, as well as an EPEAT Climate+ Gold rating, it is ideal for installations in hotel and cruise ship lobbies, bars and restaurants, event spaces, retail zones, and many more. Sebastian Ebel, CEO of TUI Group, commented: “Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy. The TUI Sustainability Impact Awards stand for our suppliers’ ability to innovate – and their commitment to integrating sustainability into their processes and products.”
Reinforcing PPDS’ position as a recognised global leader in the AV industry for delivering sustainable professional display solutions, coupled with an unparalleled desire to inspire and support businesses with their sustainability goals, a trio of PPDS team members were invited to attend the Awards. These included Global Business Director for Hospitality, Jeroen Verhaeghe; Global Director CSR and Sustainability, Stefan van Sabben; and UK Sales Director, Stuart Millward, who also spoke during a special panel discussion about the impact of suppliers’ sustainability efforts.

Discussing the award, Stefan van Sabben commented: “We are delighted that our continued efforts have been recognised by TUI. Sustainability is a key pillar of PPDS’ global business. Everything we do, from the manufacturing process, packaging and shipping, through to installation and beyond. These are all fundamentals. Our work is about much more than gaining recognition and rewards, but these give us confidence that we are working in the right ways, and, as a team, we are always immensely proud when our efforts are recognised.”
Stuart Millward added: “Digital signage, interactive displays, professional TVs, direct view LED. These all use electricity to show content. As the demand for digitalisation of business continues to grow, at PPDS we recognise the impact of this on our planet, and on the operating costs of our customers’ businesses. So, we placed reducing the impacts of our business – including the energy consumption of our products new and existing – as a part of our core strategy. Our sustainability efforts have stayed ahead of the game, and we have been recognised by many as leaders in the AV industry, for extending product lifetimes, for reducing energy consumption, and for supporting positive change for all.”
Jeroen Verhaeghe concluded: “With bars, restaurants, cafes, entertainment areas, and of course the millions of guest rooms and cruise ship cabins in the hospitality industry, digital displays of all shapes, sizes and forms are now prevalent. As a global manufacturer, we feel duty bound to support our customers in achieving their own customer experience goals, while at the same time creating more sustainable business. We look forward to continuing to innovate and bring even more benefits to TUI and to the wider industry.”

Post ISE 2025: advances in
digital signage displays
Like many things that we think of as ‘modern’,such as the electrric car, they are a good deal older than we think. The electric car example, for example, first appeared iin 1888!The Flocken Elektrowagen was a four wheeled open carriage with a 1 horsepower electric motor,a rechargeable lead acid battery and a top speed of 9 mph.The development of the LEDdisplay is not quite as extreme, but nonetheless, the first, it might surprise some to discover that the first LED display was developed in 1968 – some 56 years ago! Initial progress was fairly rapid with a basic monochrome, display shown by James Mitchell in 1977. Polychrome displays took a little longer, with a worldwide shortage of, particularly, blue LEDs. Full spectrum LED displays, based on the work of Nick Holonyak Jr. in those pioneering days of the1960s, established the basic technologies of today’s high-resolution displays. In the intervening period, LED displays have risen to become the dominant display technology, offering higher quality images, deeper blacks, better colour acuracy, wider viewing angles and mproved refresh rates. Turning to current preoccupations, today’s LED digital signage displays offer longer product lifecycles and recent introductions offer the ability to cut power consumption for display of static content – both positive for sustainability.
The ongoing commercial success of LED digital signage displays has driven continuous innovation, much of which was on show at this year’s ISE show. Paramount for many LED brands and their customers are developments in display image quality, particularly for indoor applications. Traditionally, the solution to generating a more detailed and better-quality image quality, has been to reduce the gap pixel pitch between LEDs. But, some developers are developing alternative strategies. Leyard, for example, displayed solutions using its latest Micro LED technology, particularly the MG2 and MGS series. These products are designed to deliver exceptional display performance, high reliability and durability, specifically to enhance visual experiences in typical indoor applications including meeting rooms, control rooms and large event venues. Virtual production is a market specially addressed by Leyard’s European team with the company’s XR virtual production studio solution, based on OptiTrack motion capture technology. Combining OptiTrack’s high-precision motion capture system with LED displays, enables users to switch between virtual and real environments seamlessly, offering new creative tools for film production, game development and, somewhat optimistically, education. Curved LED walls are another solution brought to market by the Leyard stable of brands. Planar exhibited the Planar CarbonLight CLI Flex 0.9 display, a flexible curved LED video wall that ensures colour consistency and ripple-free, halo-free display effects.
As with most ISE events, Absen presented a range of new solutions including the A series of next-generation products including the KLCOB V2 series, the CPS series and the Smart Screen X136, collaborating with global partners Crestron, Yealink, and Kystar to offer immersive solutions for typical indoor applications including control rooms, meeting rooms, creative commercial displays and digital outdoor advertising (DOOH). The KLCOB V2 series uses flip-chip COB technology, reducing solder points by 40% and eliminating leads, cutting failure rates by 50% and doubling lifespan. The chips directly contact the PCB substrate, significantly improves heat dissipation, reducing energy consumption by 40%, and said to lower maintenance costs by 50%. The product also features magnetic shielding, reducing surface metal dust adsorption by 70% and extending cleaning cycles by three times, with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. The Smart Screen X136 is another product to use Micro LED technology with a 4K pixel matrix and UHD resolution, powered by Absen’s image processing algorithm for exceptional display quality. Installation takes only two people one hour, reducing traditional engineering time by 80%. It also includes an 8-core processor, 8GB+128GB storage, and high system processing capabilities, compatible with mainstream audio-visual peripherals and control systems.
Moving to two of the acknowledged leaders in LED, LG and Samsung, the two Korean brands both presented
the latest incarnations of products that have been commercially available for some time. LG showcased its recently upgraded LG MAGNIT Micro LED display to meet the growing demand for ultra-high-definition screen solutions among its B2B clients. The new design of the LG MAGNIT Micro LED allows installers to adjust LED module spacing from the rear (done from the front in earlier designs). It also enhances compatibility with content controllers, ensures colour and image quality, and reduces standby power consumption by 98% compared to earlier models, significantly improving energy efficiency. LG’s “transformable” dynamic LED display attracted considerable attention at ISE 2025. Composed of 88 interconnected panels capable of 360-degree rotation, it also featured AI-driven “image transformation”, using generative AI to convert photos into pop art-style images. Rivals Samsung Electronics unveiled its next-generation commercial displays with AI solutions. AI is featured in SmartThings Pro and interactive displays to enhance the intelligence, control and usability of business-focused screens. Samsung also showcased a massive 115-inch smart signage screen, bringing immersive visuals to life. Following last year’s 105-inch QPDX-5K model with a 21:9 aspect ratio, the 115-inch QHFX featured a 16:9 aspect ratio and multi-view functionality (supporting up to four split windows) for simultaneous content display. The QHFX eliminated visible bezels commonly found in traditional video walls, offering QLED 4K resolution, a maximum brightness of 700 nits and Tizen OS 8.0, suitable for various applications such as meeting rooms and luxury retail stores.
SET as a boxout:

ISE 2025: pixel innovations
Ross Noonan, Technical Marketing Manager at LEDStudio gives his perspective on innovations on show at ISE 2025.
ISE 2025 proved to be another eye-opening experience—quite literally. With more LED display vendors than ever before, I found myself wishing I’d packed sunglasses. The show floor was a visual overload, and even for seasoned professionals, navigating the sheer volume of products and technologies can be daunting. Messaging remains inconsistent and understanding ‘what’s what’ and even how different technologies work can be a challenge.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a major shift in pixel technology, with COB (Chip on Board) emerging as the dominant format for indoor fine-pitch LED. In 2024, 80% of our indoor fine-pitch sales were COB, marking a significant jump from 2023, and our colleagues in the US are now seeing similar momentum. COB’s rise is largely driven by its superior energy efficiency—up to 40% savings compared to traditional SMD- as well as its increased durability. It’s far more
resilient during handling installation and even after deployment. Image quality has also improved, with better contrast and visual uniformity. However, COB does have its drawbacks—chief among them is its lack of repairability. This is where MIP (Mi-

bling us to build high-resolution screens that exceed 4,000 nits. We’ve now integrated this technology into our AEGIS outdoor kiosk range, which supports pixel pitches as fine as P1.2.
From a manufacturing standpoint, MIP is also a game changer. A single SMD package can be used to create multiple pixel pitches (see Fig. 2), unlike traditional methods that require different pixel packages for each resolution. This streamlines production and reduces the number of components needed, and could lead to significant cost savings over time.
croLED in Package) comes into play. At ISE 2025, MIP was on more stands than ever before, and it’s clear the industry is paying attention. But what exactly is it, and why does it matter?
In short, MIP integrates RGB microLEDs, with each under 100 microns (see Fig. 1) - into a single surface-mounted package, often using a flip-chip configuration with a common cathode setup. Like COB, MIP brings energy efficiency and stunning image quality. But crucially, it’s also repairable, making it a compelling alternative. Another major advantage is brightness. MIP can achieve much higher brightness than COB, ena-
What conclusions can we draw from ISE?
ISE 2025 was universally interesting for those planning their route ahead in digital signage. Numerous vendors were able to show screens with improved energy efficiency, with a handful developing e-paper solutions with the potential for zero power consumption except in content transformations. For the future, expect this trend to continue and possibly to develop further in the xR space. Will all of the many brands competing in the signage market survive? Probably not. So, choose your partners well.

MHP and Innoactive achieve milestone in XR streaming
Management and IT consultancy MHP and Munich-based company Innoactive have reached another milestone in visualisation technology: With Innoactive’s XR Streaming platform, large datasets can be streamed quickly and seamlessly to spatial computing devices such as the Apple Vision Pro. The technology is developed on the NVIDIA Omniverse platform, enabling the end-to-end creation and simulation of complex 3D models. MHP and Innoactive are continuously advancing the technology as part of an existing license agreement with Volkswagen and Porsche.
The high-precision, photorealistic visualisation of a vehicle is a complex task, requiring the implementation of animations and functions within the model – forming the basis for an impressive and immersive 3D experience. To achieve this, MHP processed original visualization data and converted all variants and animations using NVIDIA Omniverse, removing the need for asset decimation, and time-consuming preparation for XR applications. The model currently in development offers impressive possibilities: Using AI-supported voice control, different variants of the new Porsche 911 can be displayed – for example, as a coupé or a cabriolet. In addition, animated door openings, as well as wheel and colour selection, ensure a dynamic user experience. A detailed model also presents challenges, however: Approximately 75 million polygons generate a high volume of data, making streaming to a device such as an XR devices unfeasible.
Innoactive’s XR Streaming platform solves this problem by enabling the transmission of large, complex data models. It leverages NVIDIA spatial streaming and the open-source framework Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD). The models benefit from high-quality rendering in Omniverse, primarily through the precise calculation physically accurate rendering, including light and shadows with NVIDIA RTX technology. In addition to Apple Vision Pro, streaming is possible on other standalone XR devices such as Meta Quest 3, Vive Focus 3, or Pico 3 and 4. An additional PC is no longer required for this – Innoactive Portal is a cloud-based CMS solution that allows direct streaming of Omniverse, VREAD, Unreal, and Unity to compatible XR devices. With oneclick access, high security standards, and a consistent user experience across all devices, a large-scale XR deployment is now possible. “With the development of enterprise applications for the Apple Vision Pro, MHP is considered a pioneer in Europe. Innoactive’s expertise perfectly complements our own,” said Jörg Dietrich, Sales Director at MHP. “The possibilities for potential customers are virtually limitless and not confined to particular industries. This provides significant added value.”
In general, numerous applications are possible – for example, in training, in automotive and mechanical engi-
neering, or in architectural visualization. The technology also has potential in medical technology and education, where immersive 3D environments can enhance learning. “With the introduction of spatial streaming with NVIDIA Omniverse development, our major corporate customers can significantly increase the speed of iteration and the quality of decision-making. Our collaboration with MHP will help us accelerate the deployment and integration into existing data workflows,” said Daniel Seidl, founder and CEO of Innoactive”.

Instant hit: Kramer a hit at iconic rock ‘n’ roll venue
Setting the stage for some of the biggest rock acts on earth since 1970, the historic Tavastia Live Club in Finland, has completed a major AV system upgrade, with Kramer’s award-winning Control and AVoIP signal transmission technology used to revolutionize all in-house digital communications and drive new experiences for music fans and VIP guests alike. Kramer has announced that its advanced range of multi-award-winning Kramer Control and AVoIP signal transmission solutions have been selected to revolutionize the visual capabilities inside the Tavastia.
Opened in 1970, and located on the outskirts of Helsinki city centre, the 700-capacity Tavastia Live Club is a true bucket list venue for music fans and musicians worldwide. Maintaining an old-school look and feel, the venue plays host to an almost daily lineup of live entertainment, ranging from local aspiring artists to some of the biggest names in rock royalty, with The Offspring, Alice in Chains, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ramones and Foo Fighters (30m+) just some to have graced its stage over the years.
As with any major music venue, audiovisual technology plays an integral role in the overall experience at the Tavastia, not only in the main auditorium during live performances, but across all backstage and public areas, plus – increasingly – for private and corporate events. However, with customer demands continuing to evolve, and a desire by the Tavastia owners to enhance its marketing and messaging opportunities (both in and outside of the venue), Tavastia’s audio-visual setup had fallen well short of expectations, due to outdated technology and inefficient processes.
Magnus Hultquist, Regional Sales Director at Kramer, explained: “The venue’s initial situation revealed a reliance on over decade-old television, characterized by thick bezels and low picture quality. The video signals, transmitted through analogue cabling, originated either from a single PC or directly from the concert hall’s equipment. The old system supported only PowerPoint 2003 for displaying advertisements, making updating the content manually very time-consuming. Moreover,

the system could not support video content and could only switch between advertisements or live stage footage. This setup posed significant challenges, especially for clients who wished to display their own advertisements or present material from personal computers, as there was no capability to accommodate such needs. Overall, the venue’s AV system was in dire need of an overhaul to meet modern standards and enhance users’ and visitors’ experience.”
Part of a site-wide upgrade, Tavastia turned to AV/IT integration specialist, Frendy to build and install a new, highly flexible and future-focused, AV system – encompassing hardware and software – tailored to the venue’s precise needs. Kramer technology was immediately identified as the glue to its ambitions. Key project goals included:
• Build a scalable and user-friendly AV system, compatible with the venue’s needs and growth plans
• Streamline automated and remote advertisements and promotional content updates
•Allow for the display of different types and formats of content on different screens
•Support the new HD displays with Kramer’s signal solutions

•Create a scalable framework to anticipate and adapt to future needs
Competed in just under a week, the new state-of-the-art AV system was equipped with multiple KDS-EN7 transmitters and KDS-DEC7 receivers, allowing for the simultaneous display of different content on various screens. AVoIP technology is the perfect match to modernise the AV needs of Tavastia Live Club; this flexibility was essential for catering to the diverse needs of different events and presentations at the venue.
A user-friendly Kramer Control RC-206 device with multiple buttons, each programmed for different functions, was introduced to simplify operations. This setup enabled staff to easily change content, adjust settings, and control the system with minimal training. With just one press, staff could change the displayed content to communicate important messages swiftly and clearly to guests. To complete the upgrade, Frendy installed a se-
ries of modern high-definition LG displays with minimal bezels, connected through a virtual matrix system that utilized the local network for signal transmission, ensuring high-quality and reliable video signals throughout the venue.
These improvements have led to significantly better customer experience, enabling clients to display their advertisements seamlessly and enhancing their engagement and satisfaction during events. Designed to be user-friendly, the new system allows staff with basic technical skills to easily manage and operate the AV equipment, reducing the need for extensive training. In addition, the system’s ability to simultaneously display different content on various screens has enhanced the venue’s capability to cater to diverse event requirements and audience preferences. “We upgraded Tavastia with high-quality LG information displays and SmartSign’s user-friendly content management system, complemented by Kramer’s solutions for effortless signal transfer,” says Mika Lausamo, Sales & AV at Frendy. “We have a long history of cooperation with Tavastia in network and IT matters. One day, we woke up to the fact that Tavastia’s old screens had come to the end of their road. The technology did not represent today, and updating the ads was very laborious. We solved this with LG’s high-quality digital signage, Smartsign’s easy-touse content management system, and Kramer’s signal transmission solution. This entity makes users’ everyday lives easier and brings a lot of new opportunities for Tavastia’s operations.” He concluded: “Kramer’s products are working well and are easy to use. The client is very happy with the end result. If Tavastia wishes to bring in more displays in the future – it’s easy to do so with Kramer’s products and solutions.”
Videlio and APG’s immersive audio boosts retail experience
PG’s iX series speakers and Active Audio column speakers are at the heart of Videlio’s major AV overhaul at the Westfield Les 4 Temps (Paris) shopping centre, which immerses shoppers in pristine and pleasant sound. Located in La Défense, the business district to the west of the French capital, and boasting more than 200 shops, 40 restaurants and a 16-screen cinema, Westfield Les 4 Temps is Europe’s largest shopping centre. The audio upgrade, undertaken by Paris-based AV specialist Videlio, was designed to fully immerse Westfield Les 4 Temps visitors in the environment by making audio an integral part of their shopping experience.
Stéphane Le Roux, head of digital media for Videlio’s specialist complex-projects division, Videlio-Scénotechnique, has been working with Westfield Les 4 Temps owner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield for ten years, overseeing maintenance of its existing AV systems and advising on future upgrades. He explains that Westfield
APPLICATION
Les 4 Temps’ owners were converted to the experiential possibilities of spatial audio after Videlio demoed TADAMM, an ‘immersive experience box’ showcasing the possibilities of immersive audio and video solutions. “As a technological partner of TADAMM, we invited Westfield to witness the added value of an immersive sound system complementing the video system originally planned for this project,” says Le Roux. “We demonstrated how the visual component’s impact on the LED screens coupled with the sound system could significantly improve visitors’ attention grabbing, preventing them from looking at their phones on escalators or during down time and instead engaging with the content.”
Having already been commissioned by Westfield to integrate ‘Digital Dream’ – a series of three curved LED screens which, with a total surface area of 250m², are billed as the largest interactive indoor video display in Europe – at Les 4 Temps, Videlio turned to APG for the immersive audio component, entrusting the French manufacturer with delivering an impactful soundscape that would grab the attention of busy shoppers. The design of both the Digital Dream display and the immersive audio system were overseen by creative agency TETRO, which commissioned Acoustique & Conseil (AC) to consult on the latter aspect of the project. AC’s recommendations were that any new audio system should be able to offer clear, intelligible sound at a consistent volume within a defined area around the LED wall, as well as create a fully immersive, spatialised audio environment – a demanding brief, but one for which the iX series was the perfect choice.
The decision to specify APG loudspeakers was, says Le Roux, driven by four factors: its technological expertise, the strength of its bid, the fact its products are designed and manufactured in France, and the support the company is able to offer its integration partners. “We appreciate APG as a company with real expertise. Having partners like APG – who understand the project’s challenges and actively contribute to the experience – was invaluable,” he explains. “APG’s tender more than convinced us, and, being a French company, it was also satisfying to highlight this aspect. Beyond the solution itself, we needed a high level of service and support, particularly for the acoustic study of the site –advertisements run hundreds of times a day, so they must not become disruptive for staff and retailers. There was thorough consultation before and during the project. All this set APG apart from the competition.”
To create the desired immersive audio environment, Videlio integrated a 12-channel audio system comprising 28 iX5, APG’s ultra-compact indoor coaxial loudspeaker, distributed across the two convex LED screens that loop around Les 4 Temps’ first- and second-floor balconies for even, object-based immersive sound coverage. A miniature two-way, full-range loudspeaker that offers studio monitor-like compactness and sound quality, the iX5 is the smallest member of the iX family. All iX-series speakers combine coaxial technology with an integral baffle to eliminate diffraction and provide a consistent, linear acoustic field. Elsewhere, R210TC column speakers by APG’s sister company, Active Audio, are strategically positioned on either side of the main Digital Dream display (a curved, totem-shaped central

screen), further ensuring precise and intelligible sound projection.
On the need for the high-quality audio provided by APG and Active Audio at Westfield Les 4 Temps, Perceval de Saint-Seine, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s senior media manager for Europe, comments: “We want to offer a complete experience to our customers and positively surprise them. This drives us to choose top-tier technology and partners to ensure no compromise on quality.” De Saint-Seine adds that, thanks to the iX5’s range of custom finishes, the audio elements of the install are “extremely discreet and perfectly integrated into the environment”, making little visual impact while delivering maximum sound coverage.
Reflecting on the successful integration of Westfield Les 4 Temp’s first immersive audio system – which is, according to Perceval de Saint-Seine, already being utilised with “spectacular” results by advertisers such as Coca-Cola – Videlio’s le Roux is proud to have partnered with APG to deliver a world first in Paris: “The largest and most innovative retail LED wall in Europe – and the only one integrating immersive, 3D, interactive audio.”

Leyard LED screens illuminate Red Bull ice hockey arena
Leyard Europe has been involved in a major installation at the renowned Red Bull Ice Hockey Arena in Salzburg. As part of the extensive digital signage overhaul, ROPA Digital Displays provided a customised solution with Leyard’s Tfree transparent displays, featuring a 2.6mm pixel pitch and an exceptionally lightweight structure. The project presented several challenges, particularly the limited load capacity of the arena’s roof. However, Leyard’s innovative technology and tailor-made approach enabled ROPA to deliver an advanced solution that met the venue’s specific needs. The installation consists of four Tfree Pro-F 2.6 displays, with the highlight of the upgrade being the new LED cube positioned above the ice rink. This 4 x 2.5 metre cube replaces an outdated rear projector system and was carefully designed to meet strict weight specifications.
As the official digital signage partner of EC Red Bull Salzburg, ROPA is dedicated to bringing cutting-edge technology to sports and entertainment venues, as Patrick Cais, CEO at ROPA Digital Displays, explains: “ROPA has had a close relationship with EC Red Bull Salzburg for years,” he says. “We began with a 24-metre LED board in 2019 and have continued to enhance the venue’s visual technology with further installations, including additional boards and a state-of-the-art LED wall upgrade. The LED cube is the crown jewel of the project, and Leyard’s lightweight, customisable solution helped us overcome a major challenge. This was a project that required precision, innovation, and expertise, and Leyard delivered on all fronts.”
In addition to the LED walls, ROPA integrated its Lunixo content management software, ensuring seamless operation across all screens in the arena, including those in the VIP area and team zones. This comprehensive digital transformation of the venue marks a significant achievement for both Leyard and ROPA, as the Tfree 2.6mm pixel pitch LED displays represent the first deployment of its kind in Europe. Leyard’s ability to provide a high-quality, lightweight solution - coupled with expert technical support - ensured that the project was
completed efficiently, with minimal manpower, and within tight timelines. Installation work was conducted at night to accommodate the arena’s schedule, with ROPA’s team working closely with Leyard and Novastar technicians to ensure everything ran smoothly.
“We have had a good partnership with ROPA for many years and use LED technology and software solutions to control the systems,” says Johannes Prem, Head of Marketing & Sales, EC Red Bull Salzburg GmbH. “It was clear to us that the requirements for the new LED cube would be a challenge in many respects. After reviewing all the offers, ROPA once again emerged as the best partner, as the solution they provided met all requirements in terms of size, weight, brightness and resolution. Thanks to the connectivity of the individual components and the software solution supplied, we can once again break completely new ground in terms of entertainment at the Arena.”
“We were delighted to work with ROPA on this highly demanding project,” says Silvia Baranová from Leyard. “The collaboration between our teams was seamless, and the result speaks for itself. The Red Bull Ice Hockey Arena now boasts some of the most advanced LED technology in Europe, and we are proud to have played a key role in bringing this vision to life.” The success of this project exemplifies the strength of the partnership

PIXERA powers performance at Honda Centre
Quince Imaging chose AV Stumpfl’s PIXERA media-server platform to provide the processing power for a state-of-the-art new projection-mapping installation at the Honda Centre in Anaheim, California. The visual display and design expert, based near Washington DC, was hired by National Hockey League (NHL) team the Anaheim Ducks to design and integrate a projection-mapping system as part of a wider AV overhaul of their home ground, the 17,174-capacity Honda Centre arena. The installation complemented a significant rebranding for the Ducks ahead of the 2024–25 NHL season which also included a new logo, colour scheme (including orange, a nod to the team’s roots in Orange County) and captain announcement.
Quince Imaging’s brief for the Honda Centre project was to provide the Ducks with a turnkey projection-map-
ping system featuring league-leading brightness and quality, as well as a rigging package, a 3D motion-capture system and real-time data integration, explains Eric Gazzillo - the company’s VP of innovation, who serves as programme director of a Quince Imaging team that installs, programmes and supports projection-mapping systems across the NHL, NBA (National Basketball Association) and NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association).
At the Honda Centre, Quince Imaging deployed two PIXERA servers (running PIXERA Director and PIXERA control CORE licences) with custom playback hardware, along with 12 Griffyn 4K50-RGB pure laser projectors, to deliver 4K video content from source to the ice. Commenting on Quince Imaging’s choice for PIXERA for the Honda Centre install, Gazzillo says: “Quince Imaging has been a strong proponent of PIXERA from the beginning. The performance, flexibility and inclusion of the Control product make it indispensable for projection-mapping installations.”
longside the PIXERA media servers and Griffyn projectors (calibrated with Christie’s Mystique Pro Venue Edition software), Quince Imaging utilised a Ross Video ULTRIX-FR1 router, an OptiTrack motion-capture tracking system, and its own Zelus visualiser technology for real-time player and game stats. The new projection-mapping system made its debut on 16 October 2024, when the Anaheim Ducks played their first home game of the new season against the Utah Hockey Club. The Ducks won their ninth consecutive home opener, triumphing 5–4 against the backdrop of a spectacular opening-night AVL display produced by the Ducks’ production department and in-house motion graphics producers, in partnership with Related Grey (3D animation and motion graphics) and Sexy Lites (lighting). Regular ongoing projection-mapped content comes in the form of 4K videos and effects created by the Anaheim Ducks and their creative team, in addition to real-time stats visualisation provided by Quince and live real-time fan games on the ice.
Gazzillo hails the support provided by the AV Stumpfl USA team as being key to getting the new system up and running and delivering the high-performance visuals that continue to dazzle ice-hockey fans in Anaheim. “AV Stumpfl was incredibly supportive throughout the process, including working with Quince to ensure reliable playback across multi-GPU devices,” he says. He also praises the ability of PIXERA to simplify Quince Imaging’s workflows, describing the media-server platform as capable of doing the job of multiple products due to its numerous third-party integrations. “In broadcast or theme entertainment workflows, what PIXERA can do one product might otherwise be broken out into three or four separate products or ecosystems,” explains Gazzillo. “In particular, the PIXERA ability to integrate commands from numerous third-party devices helped us to provide seamless playback in sync with all arena displays.”
The Honda Centre installation is the latest successful collaboration between Quince Imaging and AV Stumpfl, with previous projects including designing similar pro-
renowned Red Bull Ice Hockey Arena in Salzburg.
jection-mapping systems for ice-hockey club the Boston Bruins and the Missouri Tigers basketball team. Concludes Gazzillo: “We’re thrilled the Ducks production team is happy with the system at the Honda Centre – and it’s even more rewarding to see the fans loving it.” INSERT PIC with caption:

Iconic Vegas casino gets sound system innovation
One of the most iconic casinos on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip has elevated its guest experience with a state-of-the-art sound system renovation using advanced audio technology from Powersoft. This renovation not only elevates the ambiance of the casino floor but redefines the gaming experience for its guests, further setting the standard for high-end hospitality and entertainment. Designed and delivered by Global AV Group, a boutique outfit from Long Island, New York, the finished project includes 26 Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 DSP-Dand13 Quattrocanali 8804 DSP-D amplifiers, both with built-in DSP and Dante networking, as well as five X4Lamplifierswith DSP.
Amid the constant chime of slot machines, the buzz of card tables filled with hopeful players, and the steady movement of patrons and servers weaving through the aisles, the soundscape of a casino can be overwhelming, which calls for pristine sound management. Installing Powersoft amplifiers across the casino marks a significant step forward in modernising its audio infrastructure. Famous for their unmatched sound clarity, energy efficiency, and durability, the Powersoft amplifiers–with built-in DSP and system design via Powersoft’s innovative Armonía Plus software–deliver a rich and immersive sound experience perfectly tailored to the excitement and energy of one of the most prestigious casino destinations in the world.
“The client wanted to elevate the casino’s atmosphere with a modern, high-performance sound system that enhances the guest experience while balancing the energy of the gaming floor,” says Jason Ojeda, [president and CEO of Global AV Group. “Our objective was to create a seamless and immersive listening environment that matched the excitement of the space–and we delivered. This was a major undertaking, and Powersoft’s’ senior sales engineer–large venues Rick Woida played a key role in helping us be successful. Of all our installations to date, this is one I’m most and especially proud of.”
Not built in a day Ojeda shares the approach taken to
ensure this project was a success: “To meet the client’s mandate, we began with a meticulous and comprehensive assessment of the property, considering every nuance and potential challenge. A team of eight worked tirelessly over five days and nights to complete the initial phase, which involved locating the transformers, the cable paths, addressing the speaker-hole size in the ceiling, power requirements, and addressing countless other details to ensure a smooth and successful installation. By the way, taking the entire system offline for an extended period of time was not an option, so maintaining the guest experience was critically important to the project’s overall success.”
The new sound system combines Powersoft amplifiers with over a thousand loudspeakers and subwoofers from various manufacturers. The retrofit has transformed the auditory experience within the casino by delivering crystal-clear sound. Armonía Plus’s Install Skin delivers a streamlined configuration of sources and control surfaces, allowing complete control using Powersoft’s Dynamic Music Distribution System, making it easier to share audio content among different zones independently from the source location. All roads lead to

Strip has elevated its guest experience with a state-of-the-art sound Powersoft.
Powersoft: “As for Powersoft, they are the go-to amplifier here at Global AV Group for several reasons,” Ojeda continues. “The sonic quality, reliability, and the power of the Armonía Plus system are unmatched.” He adds: “Collaborating with the Powersoft team on this project was a pleasure. It’s a testament to how shared vision, technical innovation and meticulous execution come together to create an unparalleled customer experience.”
Guests immediately noticed the difference, according to Ojeda, with the new audio system delivering consistent sound levels throughout the casino, no matter where they are. The audio energises the atmosphere on the gaming floor without overpowering conversations or announcements. “Audio plays a crucial role in creating an unforgettable environment,” explains Rick Woida. “Our systems are designed to provide consistent and dynamic sound in any setting. We were thrilled to collaborate with Global AV Group and this iconic venue and contribute to their shared legacy of excellence.”
Norwood Productions set for live event success with d&b
Norwood Productions, a fast-growing South Africa-based production company, has recently bolstered its audio capabilities with the acquisition of premium d&b audiotechnik equipment from leading distributor Stage Audio Works. This recent investment has expanded the scope of Norwood Productions’ involvement in the live events sector, allowing them to serve larger audiences and meet the high international standards of touring artists. Behind these recent investments is an inspirational journey and a story of growth and adaptability, backed by a strong ongoing relationship with Stage Audio Works.
“I started Norwood Productions in 2018 out of my garage with just a small PA system of two tops and two subs. Back then, I was catering largely for corporate events,” recalls Chris Norwood, Founder and Director at Norwood Productions. “We steadily built the business, adding in some visual elements such as LEDs and screens, and when COVID-19 hit in 2020, we had the foresight to recognise and act upon the impact that the pandemic would have on the business.”
Norwood Productions invested in their first Blackmagic equipment, purchased from Stage Audio Works. With this new acquisition, the team opened a studio for live broadcast and streaming, demand for which skyrocketed in response to the blackout on live events during the pandemic. At this time, Norwood Production’s product portfolio focused on lighting, staging and cameras, with no immediate need for larger-scale audio equipment. “Once the pandemic was over and live events were starting up again, this was our motivation to go full tilt into an industry that I’ve always been passionate about,” explains Norwood. “My background as a FOH engineer and love of the rock & roll scene was another reason I’ve always wanted to push Norwood Productions in this direction.”
Whilst Norwood and the team have since built a fantastic reputation in the corporate events market, working with leading brands and companies, the recent purchase of a d&b audiotechnik V-Series PA system has put them at an advantage to cater for international touring artists and larger live events. When considering the options for a premium PA system, Norwood Productions shopped around, but ultimately d&b audiotechnik came out as the preferred choice. “We’re committed to delivering a perfect audio experience for every client, and in my opinion as a FOH engineer, d&b audiotechnik is the best PA system on the market,” confirms Norwood. “With the expertise and support of the Stage Audio Works team, we made this major investment, and it has been instrumental in our expansion into the live events world.”
Through investing in d&b’s V-Series, Norwood Productions are firmly placed at the forefront of the live production market in South Africa. Through collaboration with other local production companies who also offer d&b audiotechnik gear, the system can be scaled up to even the largest events and meet the needs of the most de-
manding international artists. Norwood Productions own both V-Series line array systems and V-Series point source loudspeakers, enabling them to serve the growing number of live events alongside their existing client base within the corporate market. “The point sources are awesome because it gives us the ability to really scale down when we need to work on a small event,” says Norwood. “With these boxes, you can have them running at 50% but the sound quality still remains perfect – this is a key benefit for our business and is unique to d&b products.” Equipped with a full V-Series portfolio, the team can serve audiences from 80-people up to crowds of 6,000.
From outdoor festivals to stadiums, Norwood Productions have already deployed its upgraded audio arsenal on various high-profile events, including the King of Whip Motocross Contest. “For King of Whip, we were delivering audio to grandstands with around 6,000 fans,” recalls Norwood. “With d&b audiotechnik’s ArrayCalc we have the tools to ensure perfect coverage, even for these sometimes-challenging environments. The feedback from attendees was fantastic.” Looking to the future, Chris and the Norwood Productions team foresee greater growth in the live events scene and hope to provide their solutions to larger bands and artists touring in South Africa. The evolution of Norwood Pro-
ductions stands as an inspiration to those starting out in their careers and is a testament to prioritising high-quality solutions and building long-lasting industry relationships.
“The audio quality provided by d&b is unmatched. It’s a game-changer for us, and we’re excited to show clients just how far we’re willing to go to ensure quality sound for every event,” adds Norwood. “Paired with the ongoing support and excellent service of the Stage Audio Works team, there’s really not much more I can ask for. I also recognise that this journey would not have been possible without the hard work of our talented team here at Norwood Productions: Gordon Henning, Bongani Gift Jiana and Kyle Thomson. I’m thankful to them for their dedication in building the businesses towards our shared vision.” “We are thrilled to have been a part of this journey with Norwood Productions, equipping them with the best tools to thrive in the competitive production market,” comments Gary Furman, Sales Professional at Stage Audio Works. “Their passion for quality and commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with d&b’s mission to deliver world-class sound, and we look forward to seeing where this investment takes them.”

Jaw dropping AV sports entertainment at NC Sports Lounge
Peerless-AV, in partnership with experiential design experts DCBolt Productions, has unveiled the new Blinders Sports Lounge in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Officially opening on 20th March, in readiness for the start of the NCAA March Madness Tournament, Blinders Sports Lounge on 225 W. Tremont Ave, is equipped with the largest immersive LED screen on the East Coast, outside of a stadium or casino. Charlotte sports fans will experience the immense, super-wide, high-definition viewing experience of a sportsbook, combined with the live energy of a sports lounge, and the luxurious detailing of a cocktail lounge.
Kush Anandani, owner of Blinders Sports Lounge, is an avid sports fan who wanted to create an incredible space in his hometown of Charlotte that mimicked the exceptional experiences he had watching sports at different Las Vegas spots. For such an exclusive vision, he enlisted the expertise of Peerless-AV and DCBolt. As former sports partners with Daytona and MiLB, and major supplier to sports stadiums and Sportsbooks across the United States such as Mohegan Sun, Illani, and Agua Caliente, Peerless-AV was the perfect choice to partner with. Having worked with some of the most recognised brands in the world, such as Disney, Google and Nike to provide custom immersive solutions, DCBolt was the clear choice to bring the technical expertise required to make the system work flawlessly. Together, Peerless-AV and DCBolt would bring to fruition Anandani’s vision for an innovative, Vegas-esque sports lounge in the heart of Charlotte.
The 79 sqm LED screen takes the game-watching ex-
perience to new levels. Every seat is “the best in the house”, thanks to Peerless-AV’s Bespoke dvLED Mounting Structure, custom designed and precision engineered with a unique 10-degree forward tilt for optimal viewing wherever guests are seated. To add to the elegant, opulent design throughout, the lounge is fitted with state-of-the art Audio-Visual and DJ equipment, allowing for the system to transform into a high-end night club environment at the push of a button. The lounge boasts a nearly 50,000-watt VOID Acoustics sound system integrated by DCBolt, highlighted by a row of stunning 24k gold-plated speakers installed under the LED screen, atop the 12-metre-wide bar. The system allows for up-to twenty-four separate live events to be displayed on screen simultaneously, or it can be used as one large, continuous display, supporting content for parties, movie screenings and Esports tournaments.
“Blinders Sports Lounge is a sports fan’s dream!” said Megan Zeller of Peerless-AV. “We worked tirelessly to their hard-stop timescale for the grand opening. It has been an incredible project to be part of and seeing it live, witnessing people’s reactions to the 18-metre wide by 4.5-metre-high immersive LED screen as they enter and take in the surroundings, is really something. My own reaction was one of complete awe since the entire space is centred around the screen. We’ve worked on countless big projects with DCBolt, but this is unlike any other to date. Through this special, seamless collaboration with DCBolt, we’ve supplied and installed an extra special solution that more than delivers on the Blinders vision.”
