AND ANOTHER THING
I’m seriously looking forward to the first-ever Military Event at the Classic Motor Hub near me in Bibury, Gloucestershire, to be held on 2 February. I just love old service vehicles (is it too late to own one?) and will be there with my camera ready. Entrants with something military get in for half price; the rest of us have to buy tickets online. It’s an enjoyable, welcoming place, and I’m looking forward to a good time.

The Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMPF), the CSR arm of Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), has strengthened its support for environmental preservation by donating a brand-new, locally assembled Toyota Tamaraw Utility Vehicle and equipment kits to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in support of its Tamaraw Conservation Program (TCP).
The ceremonial turnover was held at the E Central ffice in Diliman, Quezon City, and was graced by DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, TMP President Masando Hashimoto, and TMPF President Jose Maria Aligada.
This initiative is part of a broader collaboration under a Memorandum
of Understanding (MOU) between TMPF and the DENR, forged alongside the launch of the Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw in December 2024.
s part of the first phase of assistance, TMPF handed over a long-wheelbase Tamaraw Utility Van to boost the mobility and field operations of C personnel, particularly the “Bantay Tamaraw Rangers” deployed in Mindoro. Additionally, Php500,000 worth of “Bantay Tamaraw Kits”—containing mountaineering gear, tools, and field equipment—were distributed to DENRMIMAROPA and TCP representatives for the use of these dedicated forest rangers. Composed of Indigenous Peoples (IPs)
and local barangay volunteers, the Bantay Tamaraw Rangers are instrumental in safeguarding the critically endangered Tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis) and their habitat within Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park, spanning both Occidental and Oriental Mindoro. Currently, 18 active rangers serve in the field and will each receive a full set of new equipment.
“We salute you for risking your lives on the ground to protect our Tamaraws,” said TMP President Hashimoto during the turnover.
“Now, it is your turn to be protected too—from the harsh mountain conditions and the many dangers that come with fieldwork.
The donation aligns with the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, particularly the
goal of “Establishing a Society in Harmony with Nature.” TMP continues to work with DENR on various environmental initiatives, including reforestation, marine conservation, and biodiversity protection.
In addition to the equipment and vehicle, TMPF has pledged a Php3million conservation fund to support TCP’s ongoing efforts. This includes habitat monitoring and research, further support for barangay and IP volunteers, upgrades to the Tamaraw Research and Conservation Center, and CEPA (Communication, Education, and Public Awareness) campaigns.
Celebrating 35 years of service, TMPF continues to pursue its mission through initiatives focused on Health, Education, Environment, and Community Service.
AC Mobility, Ayala Corporation’s mobility arm, is accelerating its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure rollout with the deployment of more than 30 additional charging stations by the end of April. This expansion will bring its operational network to 100 locations, moving closer to its target of 700 stations nationwide by year-end.
“2025 is a pivotal year for ACMobility as we intensify our commitment to advancing transformative mobility across the Philippines,” said Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, Chief Executive fficer of CMobility.
“We have expanded our network and integrated cutting-edge technology to elevate the EV charging experience. By increasing the number of fast
chargers and reaching underserved regions, we are creating a more accessible and reliable infrastructure for EV users.”
Under its “Charge Forward” campaign,
ACMobility is strategically locating charging stations along high-traffic areas and major travel corridors to address range anxiety— one of the main barriers to EV adoption. The upcoming sites will feature
“Superfast” and “UltraFast” chargers, capable of delivering up to 480kW, significantly reducing charging time for users.
The company’s expansion is also reaching rural and interregional areas. In Luzon, this includes a northern loop spanning La Union to Ilocos Norte and Tuguegarao. In the Visayas, stations will be established in Antique, Iloilo, Roxas City, and Aklan. In Mindanao, new sites are being added in Iligan, Butuan, Valencia, Digos, and Tagum— complementing existing locations in Davao and Cagayan de Oro.
To support this growing network, ACMobility has also launched a nationwide membership program that offers fi ed monthly rates and access to discounted charging fees. Members can avail of DC fast charging for as low as P28/kW (vs. the standard P35/kW) and AC charging for P22.8/kW (vs. P28.5/kW in NCR). Rates may vary by region.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) reinforced its commitment to education and skills development through the donation of three vehicles to selected academic institutions.
The donated units—one Mirage G4 GLX M/T and two L300 M/T—were turned over to Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) –Siniloan Campus, Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) – Balanga Campus, and Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) –GMA Campus.
The turnover ceremony, held at MMPC’s Sta. Rosa Plant, was attended by MMPC
Chairman Noriaki Hirakata and President & CEO Ritsu Imaeda, alongside university leaders Dr. Mario Briones (LSPU), Dr. Rowena Valerio (BPSU), and Dr. Rogelio Mamaradlo (EARIST). Faculty members, deans, and automotive technology students were also present to witness the occasion.
The donated vehicles are intended for use in the institutions’ automotive technology programs, providing students with practical training in diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. This initiative is aligned with Mitsubishi Motors’ global philosophy, Drive Your Ambition, underscoring the company’s dedication
to empowering communities through innovation and collaboration.
“At Mitsubishi Motors, we believe in nurturing the next generation of automotive professionals by equipping them with the tools they need to
succeed,” said MMPC Chairman Noriaki Hirakata. “These vehicles will play a vital role in enriching their learning experience.”
This latest donation re ects MM C’s ongoing advocacy for education and
workforce development in the Philippines. By strengthening its ties with academic institutions, MMPC contributes to the growth of the local automotive sector while opening more doors for aspiring industry professionals.

Dirt-road fun for a minimal extra outlay is the promise. Does it deliver?
“The Rally is extremely keen to rotate into and out of a corner, especially on greasy roads”
Our test car had BlueCruise, Ford’s handsoff cruise control. Rather than a revolutionary semiautonomous system, it just feels like an adaptive cruise control system that’s quite clever in its distancing and lane positioning. But it doesn’t change lanes by itself and I’m not sure what else I’d do with my hands while driving. IV

PROS ubtle but striking e terior facelift; serious new chassis tech; electric range better than ever CONS The heaviest Panamera yet
■ Fruitier Panamera variants are fitted with a four-way spoiler that deploys upwards and outwards to pretty spectacular effect. The more demure 4 E-Hybrid makes do with a one-piece element that deploys at mph, just above the car’s full-width light bar.
■ The latest evolution of Porsche’s mega-saloon can be easily identified by its matri headlights, which are larger and have sharper lenses than those of the old model. The matri system uses , micro-LEDs that sit on a surface area the size of a thumbnail.
The direction of the air vents is controlled digitally, which cleans up the fascia but hurts usability. he copious gloss black finishing is also begging to become scratched over time.
Rotary dial gives you quick control of the driving modes, though pressing the button in the middle immediately primes the powertrain for maximum response and power.
lim, firm, superbly sculpted wheel gives the Panamera an immediate edge over rivals in terms of engagement. It’s a joy to use, even if the 4 E-Hybrid isn’t the most clinical model.
WHEEL AND PEDAL ALIGNMENT A Steering offset 0mm B Brake offset 65mm right C Accelerator offset 120mm right. Porsche’s pedigree comes through in the ergonomics, which are superior to any rival. ‘Comfort’ seats are adequately supportive but Panamera Turbo owners may want more.
PROS Pedigree driving position; slick multimedia array; spacious CONS Some cheaper materials on display; gloss black trim scratches
PROS Crisp throttle response with linear delivery; maturity as an EV CONS Not especially exciting; brake-pedal feel still not perfect
PROS Active Ride Control makes a difference; extremely composed handling; fabulous over distance CONS Possibly too composed?
PROS Surprisingly good value; tempting for company car drivers CONS EV range unspectacular; economy no match for diesel

The range has been rationalised for this third evolution of the Panamera, with the loss of the estate-bodied Sport Turismo and diesel power and the widespread adoption of PHEV tech. It would be tempting to decry the relative lack of choice and there are those for whom, say, a big-booted, oil-burning Panamera remains the ideal choice. However, there’s little doubt that the Panamera, especially in mid-ranking 4 E-Hybrid guise tested here, is a remarkably versatile car and is better than ever in several key respects. Foremost among them is its ability to combine long-distance comfort with supreme crosscountry pace and that keyed-in ‘feel’ for which Porsches are famed. More EV range and less weight would see it increase further in our estimations, but this car is still a ne all rounder.
RICHARD LANE
Despite being at the age where I make noises standing up or sitting down, I’m not sold on the ‘Comfort Entry’ feature you get with the active ride. Open the door and the chassis leaps up to raise the hip point. It looks odd and I’m worried the door frame’s going to chin me at some point.
MATT SAUNDERS
There’s little wrong with the V6 you get in the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid tested here, but having recently driven both the GTS and the Turbo, I must say the V8 is a lovable brute. It’s especially natural-sounding in the GTS.
■ Given what’s on offer in other sectors, this car now needs a true 50 miles of EV range.
■ Give the V6 a little more aural character.
■ Consider reinstating the instrument cowling.

What ’s the difference between race cars and supercars on the track ?
CHRISTIAN VANN, CHIEF INSTRUCTOR, PALMERSPORT
“The biggest difference between a race car with full aero and slick tyres and a supercar isn’t the 0-100mph sprint. It’s 0-100-0mph. ou won’t find too much difference in terms of acceleration and straight-line speed. In fact, an MC20 might even be quicker than a GT car because it has very little drag.
“But it’s the stopping power that really makes the difference. Race cars have stiffer springs, a roll-cage to improve stiffness, adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, and four-way adjustable race dampers. Then there’s aero –oors, rear wings, front splitters. They all control the stiffness of the car. And everything works together to improve the car’s ability to slow down.”

Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has officially pulled the covers off the refreshed Hyundai CRETA, and this time, it’s got a sportier edge. Making its local debut alongside the familiar variants is the firstever CRETA N Line, a bolder, performance-inspired take on the brand’s popular compact crossover.
First launched globally in 2014 and introduced to the Philippine market in 2022, the Hyundai CRETA quickly earned a reputation as a well-rounded subcompact SUV—ideal for young
professionals, first-time car buyers, and active families. With its updated design, smarter tech, and the introduction of the N Line, the latest CRETA is aiming to capture even more attention from Filipino motorists looking for style, substance, and a little more excitement behind the wheel.
At the heart of the redesign is Hyundai’s signature “Sensuous Sportiness” styling language, which gives the new CRETA a sharper, more modern look. Up front, the redesigned black chrome Parametric Jewel
grille and new signature LED position lamps add visual flair, complemented by freshly styled alloy wheels and sequential turn indicators that bring added function and style. At the rear, the CRETA now features distinctive H-themed tail lamps,
giving it a unique visual signature whether day or night.
The updates continue inside with a more premium and tech-forward cabin. A larger, fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen now sit at the center of the dashboard, offering highdefinition graphics and smooth interface control. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and built-in Waze navigation come standard, reflecting Hyundai’s focus on practical connectivity. Creature comforts haven’t been overlooked either. The cabin
offers ventilated front seats, ample head and legroom for all passengers, and a cargo capacity of up to 1,401 liters with foldflat rear seats—great for road trips, grocery runs, or weekend getaways.
On the safety front, the CRETA continues to punch above its weight with the latest version of Hyundai SmartSense. This advanced driver assistance suite includes features like Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping and Lane Following Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance, Blind Spot View Monitor, Reverse Parking Distance Warning, and a Surround View Monitor. It’s a comprehensive package usually found in larger, more expensive vehicles—further reinforcing the CRETA’s strong value proposition.
But the big news for this
update is the arrival of the CRETA N Line, a trim level aimed at buyers looking for a more athletic character. It’s powered by a 1.5-liter Turbocharged GDI engine delivering 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This setup gives the N Line a noticeable boost in performance over the standard variants, delivering quicker throttle response and a more engaging drive overall.
Aesthetically, the N Line stands out with exclusive badging, a more aggressive front and rear bumper design, dual exhaust tips, and larger 18-inch alloy wheels. A sporty rear spoiler and unique color options— Shadow Gray and Dragon Red— give it an even more distinctive road presence.
Inside, the N Line cabin is dressed to match its sporty
It features red interior accents, a three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters, Drive and Traction Control settings, and even a red ambient lighting package—all adding to the dynamic, performance-themed experience.

Whether you’re after practicality, tech, or sporty flair, Hyundai now has a CRETA to match your style.

The arrival of the 2025 Audi RS 6 Avant Performance in the Philippines marks more than just a new model—it signals the return of a modern icon. For years, Audi’s RS 6 Avant has held a special place in the hearts of car enthusiasts who want supercar performance wrapped in the body of a family-friendly wagon. This latest version raises the bar even further, offering more power, better handling, updated tech, and that
unmistakable RS presence that fans have come to love.
This is now the most powerful RS 6 Avant ever built. Under its wide, aggressive hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that churns out 630 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque—30 hp and 50 Nm more than the previous model. With a 0 to 100 km h time of just 3.4 seconds, this wagon can keep pace with some of the world’s top sports cars. Paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox
and Audi’s famous quattro allwheel-drive system, it delivers relentless grip and power whether you’re driving through city streets or winding mountain roads.
The RS 6 Avant Performance doesn’t just rely on brute force— it’s been engineered to handle like a much smaller, lighter vehicle. Audi has equipped it with a specially tuned RS adaptive air suspension system, which constantly adjusts damping based on road
conditions and driving mode. This means the car can cruise comfortably on highways or stiffen up for spirited driving. The quattro system is also more flexible than ever, capable of sending up to 85% of torque to the rear wheels when needed, helping the car stay composed during sharp turns or slippery conditions.
Audi also paid attention to weight. By reducing insulation in speci c parts of the car, engineers shaved off around
eight kilograms. The result is not only improved performance, but a more direct driving experience—where you can hear more of the engine’s mechanical soundtrack inside the cabin.
Speaking of sound, the
driving experience is enhanced by a throaty exhaust note and a Bang Olufsen 3D Premium sound system that lls the cabin with high- delity audio. Inside, the RS 6 Avant Performance remains true to
Audi’s reputation for elegant, driver-focused interiors. The dashboard features carbon ber accents, while the seats are wrapped in soft Valcona leather and contoured for both comfort and support. Audi’s virtual cockpit lets drivers keep an eye on performance data in realtime—such as power output, tire pressures, and g-forces— while the MMI touch display gives easy access to music, navigation, and connectivity features.
Outside, the RS 6 Avant Performance is unmistakable. Flared fenders, aggressive air intakes, a gloss black grille, and new lightweight 22-inch wheels give it a stance that’s low, wide, and con dent. Even the rear diffuser and oval-shaped RS exhaust pipes hint at what this
wagon is capable of.
And yet, for all its performance upgrades, the RS 6 Avant still stays true to its roots as a practical vehicle. It has space for ve passengers and a generous cargo area in the back, making it ideal for road trips, grocery runs, or even daily driving. It’s that rare combination of power, practicality, and everyday usability that makes the RS 6 such a favorite among longtime Audi fans.
For those who remember the rst RS Avant models like the RS 2 from the 1990s, the 2025 RS 6 Avant Performance feels like a full-circle moment—only now, everything is faster, smarter, and more re ned. It’s not just a station wagon. It’s a supercar in disguise, and it’s nally here.

Land Rover has once again proven that luxury and extreme off-road capability can coexist in one machine with the unveiling of the 2025 Defender OCTA—an ultra-exclusive, high-performance SUV that pushes the limits of what the Defender badge can stand for. Introduced in the Philippines through official distributor Inchcape, the OCTA joins the all-new Range Rover Sport SV Edition 2 as part of a high-end, limited-run duo that represents the far ends of Land Rover’s performance spectrum. While the SV Edition 2 is tuned for speed and grip on asphalt, the Defender OCTA is engineered to dominate rocks, rivers, and ruts—without sacri cing comfort or prestige.
At rst glance, the OCTA may resemble a brawnier version of the standard Defender 110, but beneath its beefed-up bodywork is a whole new beast. Under the hood lies a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine developed by BMW’s M division. This S68 powerplant produces an astounding 626 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, allowing this full-si ed SUV to blast from a standstill to 100 km h in just 4.0 seconds. That kind of acceleration puts the OCTA in league with modern sports cars—but with the added advantage of ground
clearance, water wading, and terrain-taming tech.
The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case. This setup ensures that power is delivered precisely where it’s needed, whether the Defender is clawing up loose gravel, charging across muddy elds, or creeping through rocky mountain passes. A rear electronic active differential with torque vectoring enhances traction even further, providing pinpoint control on surfaces that would leave lesser vehicles stranded.
But perhaps the most impressive aspect of the Defender OCTA is its sophisticated suspension. Just like the SV Edition 2, it’s tted with Land Rover’s revolutionary 6D Dynamics system. This setup replaces traditional anti-roll bars with a network of hydraulic dampers that connect diagonally across the chassis. The goal Eliminate body roll, squat, and dive during aggressive cornering or sudden weight transfers, whether on road or off. The system continuously adapts to terrain and driving style, giving the OCTA a planted, composed ride even over punishing surfaces.
The result is an SUV that doesn’t just survive harsh conditions—it thrives in them. Ride height has been increased, approach and departure angles have been improved, and the Defender’s iconic boxy shape has been subtly revised for better
airflow and durability. The Edition One variant shown at the launch comes with 22-inch wheels and all-season tires for daily versatility, but Land Rover offers optional 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires for buyers who actually plan to use the OCTA where it was meant to go.
Practicality hasn’t been forgotten either. With its upgraded suspension and reinforced body structure, the OCTA retains the Defender’s towing capabilities, with a maximum towing capacity of around 3,500 kilograms. That makes it ideal not just for adventurers but also for those hauling trailers, boats, or heavy gear. The vehicle also features a full suite of off-road cameras— including ClearSight Ground View, which lets you see beneath the front wheels—perfect for navigating tricky trails or rocky climbs.
Inside, the OCTA is as re ned as any luxury SUV in its class. The cabin is available with durable yet premium-feeling Ultrafabric seats, or optionally, semi-aniline leather for those who want a more traditional upscale interior. Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team has reworked the seating for better lateral support, ensuring occupants stay secure even during high-speed off-road maneuvers.
The heart of the cockpit is the latest 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system. It offers intuitive controls for navigation, media, climate, and terrain response settings, all through a clean, high-contrast touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto come standard, along with multiple USB-C ports, wireless charging, and over-theair software updates. The digital gauge cluster is con gurable, allowing drivers to prioriti e off-road data, navigation, or performance stats on the fly.
For audiophiles, the Defender OCTA doesn’t disappoint. Like its track-focused cousin, it comes equipped with a 2 -speaker Meridian Signature sound system that includes Land Rover’s “Body and Soul Seats” (BASS). These seats use SUBPAC vibrotactile technology, which transmits low-frequency sounds—such as deep bass—through the seatback, allowing occupants to physically feel the rhythm of their music. Whether you’re listening to rock, hip-hop, or ambient nature sounds on a mountainside, the experience is immersive and incredibly unique.
Additional luxury touches include heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient cabin lighting, a premium air ltration system, and a con gurable cabin lighting scheme that adjusts to your mood or time of day. The rear seats fold flat for maximum cargo flexibility, and the tailgate opens sideways in traditional Defender fashion, giving easy access to the spacious luggage area.
Safety and driver-assist
features are comprehensive. These include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, emergency braking, cross-traffic alert, and a 3D surround camera system. The Defender OCTA also comes with adaptive off-road cruise control, which allows the driver to set a crawl speed over rough terrain while the system manages throttle and braking—ideal for tackling technical sections without stressing the driver.
With only ve units coming to the Philippines—priced between P24,5 0,000 and P26,5 0,000 depending on trim—this isn’t just a rare machine it’s a collector’s piece that performs. One unit has already been spoken for, which means just a handful remain for buyers who want something truly exceptional.
The 2025 Land Rover Defender OCTA is a celebration of capability, performance, and exclusivity. It’s a luxury SUV that doesn’t shy away from dirt and dust—instead, it welcomes it. Whether you’re conquering trails in Tanay, cruising up to Sagada, or just navigating a flood-prone city with con dence, the OCTA stands ready. It’s more than just a Defender—it’s the ultimate expression of adventure engineered for those who don’t follow roads they make their own.

issan is charging into new territory—literally—with the global reveal of the all-new Frontier Pro, the brand’s rst-ever plug-in hybrid pickup truck, unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2025. This bold new offering is part of Nissan’s commitment to electri cation, with plans to launch nine new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China by mid-2027. And while the Frontier Pro will initially be sold in the world’s largest EV market, it’s already generating bu among Filipino pickup fans who are asking the big question Will it make its way here?
The Frontier Pro is more than just a concept or one-off experiment—it’s a productionready truck that represents the next step in Nissan’s electri ed evolution. Set to go on sale in China later this year, it blends the brand’s rugged pickup DNA with cutting-edge hybrid technology. Developed with versatility in mind, the veseater Frontier Pro promises a balance of capability, efficiency, and tech—whether it’s navigating the daily grind or exploring far-off trails. Designed under the theme “Rugged Tech,” the Frontier
Pro combines bold styling cues with futuristic elements. It proudly wears an illuminated Nissan badge, a wide stance, and striking LED lighting that pays homage to the iconic D21 Hardbody pickup of the ’80s. Its grille is flanked by ve prominent hori ontal LED bars, while the rest of the body sports sharp creases and a highriding pro le, all sitting atop robust 18-inch alloy wheels.
Powering this trailbla er is a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system. It pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a high-output
electric motor, producing a combined output of over 300 kW (equivalent to more than 400 horsepower) and a massive 800 Nm of torque. Nissan claims an EV-only range of up to 135 kilometers, ideal for ero-emissions urban driving. et, with selectable drive modes like Hybrid, Pure Electric, Performance, and Snow, and features like Intelligent AWD, ve-link rear suspension, and an electromechanical rear differential lock, the Frontier Pro doesn’t shy away from more challenging terrain.
Inside, the cabin is every bit
as advanced as the powertrain. The interior features a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital 10-inch instrument cluster, and a huge 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen. Comfort and tech go hand in hand, with heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, sleek roof rails, and even an electronic retractable bed cover. There’s also a vehicleto-load (V2L) system capable of powering appliances or tools with up to 6kW of output— useful for camping, emergency use, or mobile businesses.
The Frontier Pro will be manufactured by Zhengzhou Nissan ( NA) and initially sold in China. However, Nissan has con rmed that it plans to export the model to other markets soon. While no official announcement has been made about a Philippine release, there’s strong reason to believe it could happen. The Philippine market’s deep love affair with pickups, along with a growing interest in electri ed vehicles, makes the Frontier Pro a strong candidate for local introduction. Adding to the speculation
is the fact that the Frontier nameplate is the global sibling of the Philippine-market Navara. That relationship makes it entirely possible for the Frontier Pro—or a version of it under the Navara badge—to be adapted for ASEAN markets. Given that no other pickup in the country currently offers a plug-in hybrid system, Nissan would enjoy rst-mover advantage if it decides to bring the Frontier Pro to local showrooms.
Also shown at Auto Shanghai 2025 was the Dongfeng Nissan N7, a sleek, all-electric sedan
developed through Nissan’s partnership with Dongfeng Motor Company. Already on sale in China, the N7 is built for efficiency, luxury, and advanced mobility. With a drag coefficient of just 0.208, it glides through air with minimal resistance. The minimalist yet premium cabin features frameless doors, AI-powered adaptive seating, massage functions, and a 15.6inch 2.5K display running on a Snapdragon 82 5P processor. Depending on the variant, the N7 comes with either a 58kWh or 73kWh battery, with
a claimed range of up to 635 kilometers, and rapid charging that can bring the battery to 80% in just 19 minutes.
While there’s no word yet on whether the N7 will be offered outside China, Nissan’s aggressive push toward electri cation and smart mobility hints at a broader rollout of EVs in the future— including in the Philippines.
Back to the Frontier Pro, Filipino pickup fans and techsavvy adventurers alike will be watching closely. If Nissan gives the green light, this electri ed powerhouse could rede ne what Filipinos expect from a midsi e pickup—offering the rugged dependability of a traditional truck, paired with the environmental and fuelsaving bene ts of plug-in hybrid technology.
For now, we wait. But should the Frontier Pro arrive on our shores, it could very well usher in a new chapter in Philippine pickup motoring—where power meets sustainability, and heritage meets innovation.

Since arriving on Philippine roads, the Mitsubishi Xpander has become more than just a popular MPV—it’s a trusted companion for countless Filipino families. With its sleek design, roomy interior, solid performance, and family-friendly features, it’s easy to see why this seven-seater has quickly become a staple in both urban and provincial garages. To understand what makes the Xpander such a standout in its class, we took it for a spin through real-world driving conditions—from EDSA congestion to winding provincial backroads.
The latest Xpander takes style seriously. Far from the boxy and plain MPVs of the past, this version carries a bold and modern look. Up front, Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield design frames the fascia with sleek LED headlights and a sharper grille, giving the vehicle a con dent and sporty vibe. Newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and more de ned body lines complete the package, giving it an upscale presence that stands out in traffic or parked at the village clubhouse.
But it’s not just about looks. Step inside, and the pander proves it’s designed with real family life in mind. The spacious interior comfortably seats seven, with even the third row offering enough legroom for adults— something not all MPVs in this class can boast. Soft-touch materials on the dashboard and upgraded upholstery add a more premium feel, while though ul additions like multiple cup holders and convenient storage compartments make life easier for parents on the move. There’s ample space in the back too, with cargo room that adjusts easily for luggage, groceries, or sports gear.
One standout feature—
especially appreciated in the tropical heat—is the rear airconditioning vents. These ensure that passengers in the back rows stay just as cool and comfortable as those up front, a must-have in our country’s humid climate.
Under the hood, the Xpander is powered by a 1.5-liter MIVEC gasoline engine delivering 103 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. On paper, those gures might seem modest, but in practice, they’re more than enough. In heavy Metro Manila traffic, the pander’s light steering and compact turning radius make it easy to maneuver, while its elevated 225 mm ground clearance gives it an edge when navigating rougher provincial roads or flooded streets.
The ride quality has improved, thanks to better suspension tuning, making it smoother over bumps and potholes. On the expressway, the Xpander holds its line well, offering a stable and relaxed cruise that’s perfect for long family trips. No, it’s not a speed demon—but it’s not meant to be. What it does deliver is
comfort, con dence, and control, mile after mile.
Fuel economy is another big win. With the updated CVT (continuously variable transmission), the Xpander now delivers better mileage than previous versions—averaging around 10 to 12 km/L in city driving and up to 18 km/L on the highway. In today’s economy, that kind of efficiency is something every family will appreciate.
Tech and safety haven’t been left behind either. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, giving you access to maps, music, and messages without distraction. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi’s suite of safety features—active stability control, hill start assist, traction control, and ABS with EBD—adds a layer of con dence to every drive. Rear parking sensors and a backup camera also help make city parking much less stressful.
After spending time with the Xpander, it’s clear why it has struck a chord with so many Filipinos. It’s stylish without being flashy, practical without
feeling basic, and reliable without draining your wallet. It’s a car built with real families in mind— perfect for school runs, road trips, family gatherings, and everything in between.
Price-wise, the Xpander remains one of the most competitive in its segment. The pander GL 1.5G 2WD M T is priced at P1,068,000, ideal for drivers who prefer the control of a manual gearbox. The GLX 1.5G 2WD A T, at P1,128,000, is a great pick for urban dwellers who want the ease of an automatic. For those looking for more comfort and convenience features, the GLS 1.5G 2WD A T comes in at P1,216,000. And if you want something with a bit more visual punch, the ruggedlooking pander Cross 1.5G 2WD A T is available at P1,346,000, sporting SUV-inspired styling cues and an even higher stance. With its solid mix of style, practicality, efficiency, and affordability, the Mitsubishi Xpander isn’t just a vehicle—it’s a dependable family partner. And for many Filipinos, that’s exactly what makes it the right choice.
Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai Trucks and Buses in the Philippines, is giving Filipino businesses a reason to roll with pride. At the Hyundai Truck and Bus Mobility EV-olution Expo held on May 2, 2025, at the Filinvest Tent in Alabang, HARI officially launched its latest locally assembled light commercial vehicle—the all-new HARI Cab.
More than just a new product, the HARI Cab represents a deeper commitment to Filipino entrepreneurs, cooperatives, local government units, and service operators. It’s designed to be tough, flexible, and costefficient—qualities that matter most to small and medium enterprises keeping the country’s wheels turning. Built right here in the Philippines, the HARI Cab is tailored for the unique demands of local roads, businesses, and communities.
Powering the HARI Cab is a Euro 4-compliant D4CC diesel engine that produces 160 horsepower at 3,000 rpm and a hefty 40 kg-m of torque across a broad 1,250 to 2,800 rpm range. This 2.9-liter engine is paired with a generous 100-liter fuel tank, giving operators enough range to cover long routes with fewer refueling stops. Whether you’re tackling stop-and-go traffic in Metro Manila or hauling goods to remote barangays, the HARI Cab is engineered to deliver.
Versatility is a key part of the Cab’s design. It’s available in several con gurations to meet various transport needs: Cab Chassis (with or without air-conditioning), Aluminum Van (also with or without A/C), Shuttle (with dual A C), and School Service (with dual A/C). Prices start at P1,767,000 for the base Cab Chassis and top
out at P2,362,000 for the fully equipped School Service variant. For businesses, cooperatives, and institutions looking for maximum value from a long-term investment, this range offers solid options without breaking the bank.
HARI Vice Chairman, President, and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo led the launch and shared the broader vision behind the Cab. “The HARI Cab symbolizes the modern Juan Dela Cruz—resilient, driven, full of grit, and open to innovation. True to its name, it is built for those who work like a king, serve like a king, and dream like one, too,” she said. For Perez-Agudo, the HARI Cab isn’t just about moving people or products; it’s about fueling national progress through local job creation, accessible mobility, and support for SMEs.
The launch of the HARI Cab was just one part of the Mobility Expo, which also served as the
debut stage for HARI’s new line of electric commercial vehicles.
Headlining the electric push was the Hyundai Mighty Electric, a clean-energy light-duty truck developed for city-based logistics and delivery. It runs on a 120-kW permanent magnet synchronous motor, good for 163 horsepower and 32.6 kg-m of torque.
The Mighty Electric is powered by a 114.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, capable of covering an estimated 260 kilometers on a full charge—ideal for day-to-day urban operations. And when it’s time to plug in, a 100-kW DC fast charger can bring the battery back to full in just over an hour, making it a practical option for fleets that need quick turnaround times.
Working hand-in-hand with local body builder Centro Manufacturing Corporation, HARI ensures that the Mighty Electric can be con gured to suit a variety of needs—from cargo
and logistics to mobile retail and specialized delivery units.
While the spotlight may be shifting toward electric transport, HARI acknowledges that dieselpowered vehicles like the HARI Cab remain crucial, especially in many provinces and rural areas where charging infrastructure is still limited. The company is taking a balanced approach: supporting the transition to EVs while still meeting the current needs of businesses and service providers.
With the HARI Cab leading the charge for local manufacturing and the Mighty Electric showcasing the future of mobility, HARI is positioning itself as a company that understands the present while investing in what lies ahead. The 2025 Mobility EV-olution Expo wasn’t just a product showcase—it was a glimpse of a more connected, more empowered, and more mobile Philippines.

“Shell Philippines has long been a trusted partner of many auto workshops nationwide, supporting mechanics through training and skills development,” said Leo Mendo a, Shell Lubricants National Sales Manager for Indirect Channels. “Formali ing this collaboration through the Shell Helix Flagship Auto Workshop is a natural evolution of that commitment.”
In addition to Fairview, Shell has
already opened two more flagship workshops—in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, and Alijis Road, Bacolod. And that’s just the beginning. More sites are set to rise soon in Albay, Batangas, Marikina, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, and amboanga, as Shell continues to expand its footprint in the Philippine auto care industry.
To celebrate the launch, Shell is offering early customers a P200 discount on any Shell oil lter with every oil change at participating flagship branches. They’re also giving away a limited-edition Shell tumbler while supplies last—a small token to thank loyal customers for riding along on this new journey.
The Shell Helix Flagship Auto Workshop is more than just a service bay—it’s a bold step in transforming Shell from a fuel provider to a fullservice mobility partner. And with the Philippines leading the charge, it’s also a proud moment for the local motoring community, showcasing world-class service powered by Filipino skill and global innovation.
