Phantasievögel Romantische Malerei Romantic painting 6766 Die bei dieser Ausstellung erstmals gezeigten Arbeiten der ‚romantischen Malerei’, wurden Entwürfen nachempfunden, die ca. 1790 in der Wiener Manufaktur entstanden sind. Die Zeit ihrer beginnenden Hochblüte. Sie vergegenständlichen hervorragend die Inhalte der Spätaufklärung, des Sturm und Drang hin bis zur Romantik, eine Periode wie kaum eine andere, die durch ihre gesellschaftlichen, ethischen und politischen Auswirkungen die Schicksale Europas verändert hat. Gerade Mitteleuropa stellt sich innerhalb dieser Periode in den Mittelpunkt von revolutionärer, kultureller und künstlerischer Arbeit. Wie wenn sich Europa ruckartig von den Regeln des Rationalismus befreien wollte. Freiheit, Natürlichkeit und Lebensechtheit, Wahrheit und Originalität sind Grundlagen für diese Kunstrevolution. Rousseau hat als Vorreiter schon 20 Jahre vorher gemeint: der Mensche sei von Natur aus gut, nur die Entfernung von der Natur durch die Zivilisation habe ihn verdorben. Später spricht man von der Aufklärung der Gefühle – die Empfindsamkeit setzt neue Moralbegriffe fest. Mozarts Oper gestaltet somit perfekt die Metaphorik dieser gesamten Epoche. Die jetzt erstmals gezeigten Arbeiten der Manufaktur umfassen einerseits phantasievoll die Einfachheit von Papageno und Papagena und andererseits die gehobene Gefühlssprache von Tamino und Pamina. Die Paradies – Vögel darin drücken die erfüllte Sehnsucht nach dem Reich der Phantasie, der Kunst und der Poesie ins Zeitlose aus. Es ist nicht Zufall, wenn man meint, dass die Darstellung dieser Inhalte und Begriffe dem Bedarf des Menschen im 21. Jahrhundert durchaus entsprechen.
The works of “Romantic Paintings” has shown here follow drafts that were painted at the Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur around 1790, at the beginning of its heyday. The works can be seen as a remarkable epitome of the time spanning from the late Enlightenment to Sturm und Drang (“Storm and Stress”) and to Romanticism. More than any period before this time changed the destiny of Europe with its dramatic effects on society, ethics and politics. During this period it was Central Europe that became the focus of revolutionary cultural and artistic work. It was as if Europe wanted to free itself abruptly from the rules of Rationalism. The basic principles for the revolution in art were freedom, naturalness, authentic living, truth and originality. Rousseau was the forerunner of this revolution, when 20 years before he postulated that man was good by nature and that only his move away from nature, caused by civilisation, did ruin him. Later on the “Enlightenment of feelings” came into the foreground: the age of sensibility set new moral standards. Mozart’s Magic Flute perfectly expresses the metaphors of the whole period. Both the simplicity of Papageno and Papagena and the elevated language of feelings used by Tamino and Pamina are embodied in an imaginative way in the works of the manufactory, which are shown for the first time. The timeless shape of the painted birds of paradise indicates the desire for the realms of fantasy, art and poetry. It is not a matter of pure chance that some people believe expressing these thoughts and concepts is also suited to the needs of the people in the 21st century.
