It will be muscle-car mania in Ocean City on Sunday, Sept. 23, as one of the largest Corvette shows in the country will be happening between 7th and 12th streets on the O.C. Boardwalk starting 11:30am. Over 400 of Chevrolet’s most popular sportscar will be displayed on the Boardwalk with models spanning from the original in 1953 (next year will mark the Corvette’s 60th anniversary) through current models. The show is one of the largest on the East Coast, with Corvette owners hailing from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland. New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana and Florida. The event will be held rain or shine. Registration is from 8-10am at the Ocean City Airport, 26th Street and Bay Avenue. The Ocean City Humane Society (OCHS) and Ocean City Ecumenical Food Cupboard will be on location selling items and accepting donations. The line of Corvettes will be parked on the Boardwalk and beyond until 4pm, and there will be a special wedding-themed Corvette display in front of the Ocean City Music Pier at Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. The event is being sponsored by the Boardwalk Corvettes Club, which will be selling T-shirts to raise money for the OCHS and Food Cupboard. Attendance is free. For more information, call the club at 457-0081or go to boardwalkcorvettes.com. — Ray Schweibert

Night Fever Makes Way for Margaritaville

Resorts recently announced that its Night Fever dance club will be closing following a grand finale “Last Dance Party” on Saturday, Sept. 29. The event will feature free appetizers, $1 shots, $2 domestic draft beers, $3 glasses of wine and a performance by 1970s singing star Maxine Nightingale, who was best known for her hit “Right Back Where We Started From.” Resorts is closing the club, according to a company spokesperson, to make way for the new Margaritaville entertainment complex scheduled to open in spring 2013. On Friday, Sept. 14, the state’s Casino Control Commission approved the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority to run the day-to-day affairs of Resorts and purchase a 10 percent share of the company. Earlier last week, the Mohegan tribe — which owns casinos in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Uncasville, Conn. — was granted approval by the state DEP for the necessary environmental land-use permit for Margaritaville, which will be built across the Boardwalk from Resorts where the Steeplechase Pier once stood. Guests attending the Last Dance Party are encouraged to send in their favorite Night Fever photos, and/or photos of themselves from the ‘70s and ‘80s, which will be displayed on giant video screens throughout the night. One photo will be chosen as the “ultimate ‘70s and ‘80s representation” and will win the owner a table for 10 and a round of drinks for their party. Photos must be submitted to jballesteros@resortsac.com by Monday, Sept. 24, to be eligible, and the winner will be notified by e-mail. Additionally, Facebook fans are encouraged to submit their favorite ‘70s and ‘80s songs to Resorts’ fan page at Facebook.com/NightFeverAC. — RS

A tasty brew of ragged, rough-hewn rock; Beach Boys harmonies and glistening ‘70s rock ala CS&N and America (and more contemporary sounds of country-rock groups such as My Morning Jacket, Sun Volt, Dr. Dog and the Jayhawks) fills the sublime pot of gold at the end of the rainbow of the Band of Horses’ new album, Mirage Rock. Cut live in the studio and recorded straight to analog tape, the album is a trip back in time, yet perfect for the 2012 autumn months. The Grammy-nominated band got legendary producer Glyn Johns (The Who, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) on board for an 11-track set that is the band’s best yet. Songs such as “Slow Cruel Hands of Time” and “How to Live” should be on everybody’s playlist, while “Dumpster World” discusses the “evils of the Western world,” with a sound to match. The acoustic instruments replace the reverb-drenched sounds of the band’s last album, while the vocal harmonies and songwriting here have both been taken up a few notches. — Jeff Schwachter

T CAN SOMETIMES SEEM LIKE A switch was flicked off in terms of shoretown activity levels beyond Labor Day weekend, but this is still an ideal time of year to enjoy the sights and sounds of the surf, soak up some sun, or savor that salty brine. Many venues have outdoor decks and patios that remain open as long as weather conditions permit, including one that just finished up its first full summer of operation, the Diving Bell Biergarten. Sited on the far end of the Steel Pier (where the go-carts used to be, and a phase-one component of a multi-year, $102 million renovation project that will turn the Steel Pier into a year-round destination), the Biergarten was open daily throughout the summer and has scaled back to Saturdays and Sundays from noon to around midnight through mid-October, along with the rest of the Steel Pier. It still offers occasional live music [among the recurring talent is Scott Gager, aka Scotty Andrews, a country tribute artist who replicates well Randy Travis, Merle Haggard, Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard and others], a reasonably priced food menu, and plenty of exceptional beers in bottles or on tap, including Blue Moon, Landshark, Yeungling, Victory and Sam Adams. There is nary a bad view from the Biergarten, as patrons are either looking out into the ocean or toward the A.C. skyline. “It was a good first summer,” says Bill Catanoso of Steel Pier Associates, who purchased the Pier last year from Trump Entertainment Resorts after serving as lease operators for the prior 20 years. “We opened eight weeks late because of construction [delays] and we still exceeded last year’s numbers. It was a real good summer in the sense that it feels like things are moving in the right direction.” A few blocks south, Harry’s Oyster Bar at Bally’s has 26 seats and four HDTVs at its outside bar, and an additional 65 dining seats on an outdoor patio in the Like us:

Dennis Courtyard. The Boardwalk Beer Garden, on the other side of the Pier Shops at Caesars, is still going strong with live music, lots of quality suds, specialty drinks and excellent pub fare, plus a daily 4-7pm happy hour. The Deck at Golden Nugget is still doing live music on weekends along with food and drink specials. This weekend it’s The Loop on Friday (Sept. 21) starting 7pm, Pop Scene at 2pm and Funkybone at 7pm on Saturday, and the Exceptions at 2pm Sunday. The following weekend is the three-day (Sept. 28-30) Oktoberfest at the Deck sponsored by Paulaner Brewery of Germany. Performing will be Sleeveless Hearts (7pm) on Friday, and No Pressure (2pm) and Seven Stone (7pm) on Saturday. Across the water in Gardner’s Basin, Scales Grill & Deck Bar is a fun hangout accessible by land or sea, with a large outdoor deck, great views, excellent fare, specialty drinks and a 4-6pm daily happy hour. Sited just off the Albany Avenue bridge on the Intracoastal Waterway, Atlantic City’s Wonder Bar is a popular place among the locals. It too stays open as long as the weather allows and, like Scales, has a long floating dock that makes it a favorite among boaters. The new Laguna Grill Rum Bar in Brigantine has outdoor seating right on the 14th Street beach. Its No Shower Happy Hour is still going strong, featuring the cool Caribbean steel-drum sounds of Dr. Cheeko’s Island Soul every Friday starting 4pm. A popular spot among Cape May County locals, located on the bay in Strathmere (between Ocean City and Sea Isle City), is the Deauville Inn. The Deauville has a huge canopied, outdoor deck that’s attached to the main restaurant. It’s open from about noon to midnight and has a happy hour from 4-6pm daily. n

CURTAIN CALL

Texas Tenors in Town By David J. Spatz

A

TLANTIC CITY IS ABOUT TO GET a healthy dose of classical culture courtesy of a very unlikely source. The Texas Tenors, a trio of good ol’ boys from the Lone Star State, will perform an eclectic program of music ranging from a classically infused version of John Denver’s “Thank God I’m A Country Boy” to Frank Sinatra’s life anthem “My Way” to Giacomo Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma,” one of the late opera legend Luciano Pavarotti’s signature arias. The Texas Tenors, a vocal group formed in 2009 specifically to audition for the TV talent showcase America’s Got Talent, will bring their inventive spin on popular and classical music to Borgata’s Music Box on Sunday, Sept. 23, where they’ll perform with the 60 members of the Bay-Atlantic Symphony. The Tenors placed fourth on the 2009 edition of AGT and haven’t stopped working since, alternating between a semipermanent gig in Branson, Missouri, and tours of the United States and Europe. JC Fisher, a singer with country and gospel roots, had the idea to form a vocal group with his two closest friends, pop and contemporary vocalist Marcus Collins and John Hagen, whose musical background is steeped in opera and the classics. “It was kind of a natural progression growing up with these guys and listening to them sing,” Fisher says during a phone call from the Tenors’ Branson Theater. Since they each had a unique and distinctive vocal style, Fisher had an idea that had never been fully explored. “[We] have different voices, but we’re all Tenors, and I love the tenor voice,” Fisher explains. “[Hagen] has a more opera-classical sound, [Collins] has his fantastic Broadway and contemporary sound and I do a little country and gospel. I never heard classical and opera with country music in the same concert, and I just thought what a neat idea and opportunity.” That’s when he decided to form the Texas Tenors and audition for the TV show. And when the three friends got serious about forming the new act, picking the music they’d sing became the first challenge. “We all have experience with stage productions, so we just put together a collection of music that we love, and we took a lot of our favorites and pieced them together into a show,” Collins adds. “And

by trial and error, we came up with a show we’ve done over 425 times.” Hagen writes the arrangements for the group, which he says comes fairly easily because the three singers have been such close friends since they were kids. “I know all three of our voices so well, it just comes naturally to me,” Hagen says. “I hear our voices in my head. We all have our strengths (and) some do some things better than others. So we play to the strengths, and it just works out great. The things I can’t do, [Collins] can, and vice versa. And so we kind of cover the bases between the three of us.” Fisher says the trio often gets quizzical looks when they rehearse with big orchestras, especially the symphonies, who aren’t familiar with the group’s musical style. But it doesn’t take long for the Tenors to prove to the musicians that they’re not three guys who lucked out on a television show. “It’s always interesting, [because] some of [the musicians] don’t quite know what to make of us until they’ve heard a couple of numbers,” Fisher says with a chuckle, “and then they’re shaking their heads [thinking], ‘Yeah, these guys can sing.’” During their concert with the Bay Atlantic Symphony, the Texas Tenors will perform all of the songs they featured during their run on America’s Got Talent. Most of the trio’s songs have been given a “classical and symphonic treatment” that presents the music in a way that’s both familiar — but still new — to the audience. Next spring, the Tenors will branch out into uncharted territory — original music — when they release their sophomore album. The new disc, titled “You Should Dream,” will mix original songs with their classically-infused covers of songs like the Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody” and the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.” “And each song will have our special Texas Tenors twist,” Fisher promises. n

“I never heard classical and opera with country music in the same concert, and I just thought what a neat idea and opportunity.”

Fornelletto

Kalt’s Cuisine

Where: The Borgata, Atlantic City Phone: 609-317-1000 Web: theborgata.com

Fornelletto at Borgata offers star chef’s distinctive spin on Italian fare. By Frank Gabriel

S

Chef Stephen Kalt Next up, a sophisticated fennel and endive salad, tart and full of crunch. Wide, mandolin-cut ribbons of those two potent vegetables were blended with radish, arugula, chopped egg and pecorino. The dressing, fairly aggressive and anchovybased, highlighted the startling salinity capably provided by that suddenly trendy fish. But our favorite of these three was easily the roasted butternut squash. Beyond being ideally seasonal, strips of that auburn gourd were treated in agro dolce fashion with balsamic vinegar. The result was an achingly tender creation with plenty of complexity provided via that sweet/sour application. Worth noting: all of these offerings were delivered in communal-style serving devices, portioned large enough to enable easy sharing. Nine Neapolitan pizzas adorn the center

of Fornelletto’s — “little oven” or “stove” — menu. From that list we selected what our waiter described as a recent addition; Genovese with fingerling potatoes, basil pesto, pecorino and pine nuts atop a layer of sweet, soft Fontina. Cheese had been judiciously employed and did not compromise the crisp structural integrity of this pie. While “white” pizza is generally not our preference, this confluence of elements proved quite thought-provoking. Just one small request, a little more of those stellar, rounded slices of delicate potato, please? Entrée choices are wide in scope, with 25 different large plates available. These include pastas, parmigianas, fish and meats. We opted for the most offbeat, ravioli del plin, a dozen or so folded purses laden with

a smooth mixture of artichoke, peas and arugula. The pasta itself was superlative — firm enough to contain the softened ingredients, but easily fork-tender. Make no mistake about it, raviolis, or any stuffed pasta, are among the most difficult items to pull off using fresh-made dough. These were clearly the product of gentle, skilled hands, not unlike a classically trained pianist. With a restrained butter, poppy seed and Montasio cheese sauce, the inherent beauty of this dish was artfully spotlighted. My option, roasted sea scallops, brought a quartet of pearly-white mollusks arranged at the center of a narrow plate. Surrounding them on either side, a red pepper caponata which, like that earlier squash, benefitted the divergent sweet and sour essences of pine nuts, golden raisins and white anchovies. The scallops were properly seared, given what chefs call a nice, caramelized “presentation side.” Moist and slightly cool within, this beautiful, pristine protein was both hearty and healthful. From a short list of sides, we opted for fried Brussels sprouts, which arrived sizzling hot, seasoned with garlic, shallots and vinegar. My dessert, the dark chocolate budino, brought a disc of cool, semi-sweet chocolate/ hazelnut pudding. A spoonful of cool, creamy mascarpone — Italy’s elegant cream cheese — finished the pretty plating. Ricotta cheesecake was an individual serving, topped with slices of spectacularly ripe local peaches, a misty-eyed reminder of summer now past. n

INCE TAKING CHARGE OF THE subterranean space known as Fornelletto in 2009, New York City native Stephen Kalt has put his own distinctive spin on its cuisine, and attitude. Once a bit formal, the first restaurant most visitors encounter upon arrival at the Borgata property is now decidedly casual, perhaps even more authentically Italian. Descending a series of stairs to enter, visitors are greeted by a combination of pleasant, wafting kitchen aromas mingling with sounds of merriment emanating from a roomy lounge. A pair of dining rooms, along with a private space, snake out in labyrinthine corridors surrounding that area. Despite being underground, literally, the space remains warm and convivial, with pleasant golden and wood tones. Kalt’s bill of fare is truly, fully reflective of his 30-plus year arc as a chef. This included stints working alongside renowned French master Daniel Boulud at La Cirque and acclaimed Ann Rosenzweig at Arcadia. While certainly addressing mainstream Italian tastes, Fornelletto stretches to encompass a wide range of atypical Mediterraneanstyle specialties. Both these concepts came into play with our trio of starters. From the familiar, polpette, five golf-sized meatballs in a light, mildly acidic tomato sauce. These were airy, packed with flavor and — taking an educated guess here — probably oven baked rather than pan fried. Virtually devoid of excess fat and oil, which often plagues that technique, these little bundles of joy were like a new and improved, 21st century take on a timeless traditional favorite.

Help the Gateway Reach its Goal September is the last month in a year-long matching grant program Shore Medical Center offered to help save Somers Point’s Gateway Playhouse. By Ray Schweibert

A

BOUT TWO WEEKS REMAIN in a 12-month matching grant challenge between the Gateway Playhouse and Shore Medical Center — both located on Bay Avenue in Somers Point — to help the Gateway raise funds for renovations and a reopening. The city-owned, 102-year-old Playhouse has raised nearly $50,000 in the last 11 months through various fundraisers and charitable donations — which is around the halfway point of a $100,000 matching grant offer from Shore Medical Center. Because of Shore Medical’s pledge, every dollar raised thus far has, in essence, become two dollars, but more monetary assistance is still needed to expedite the process, and assure that “the show must go on!” The Playhouse has been closed for much-needed renovations since 2006, the year it was purchased by the City of Somers Point. The Theater Collaborative of South Jersey (TCSJ), a 501c3 non-profit organization responsible for Gateway Playhouse’s revitalization, is the organization behind the effort to bring back the playhouse and raise awareness of its link to Somers Point’s local economy and cultural community. The TCSJ partnered with Shore Medical Center in September 2011 in an effort to reopen the Gateway. Shore Medical Center offered a $100,000 matchingfunds grant to the TCSJ to assist in completing the renovations and repairs

Since 2009, more than $310,000 has been raised and used to provide the Gateway with a new foundation, joists, sub-flooring, second-floor framework and a brand-new roof. For the first time in over 50 years, the Gateway Playhouse is structurally sound. Much of the funding thus far came from Pepsi Refresh Project — an initiative by PepsiCo that awards millions of dollars per year in grants to individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations that have positive impacts on their community, state or nation. The City of Somers Point purchased the property for $600,000 in December 2006, which included the theater’s parking lot across the street. The city’s intention is to keep it functional as a community theater in a section of southern New Jersey that was once a major focal point of entertainment. The Gateway was founded in 1910 and moved to its current, 280-seat location at Bay and Higbee avenues in the early 1920s. It operated for much of its existence as a movie theater. In 1977 it was ting the theater’s doors open both for purchased by the non-profit organization performances and other uses, and is a South Jersey Regional Theater (SJRT), and win-win for everyone,” says TCSJ board remained under that ownership until the chairman Jim Dalfonso. “When the city purchased it six years ago. To donate to the Gateway Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse is finished and ready to be open, it will be a much-needed go to gatewaybythebay.org, call destination for local theater, concerts, Dalfonso at 653-0553 or e-mail him at performances and presentations.” jim@gatewaybythebay.org. n

As part of the agreement, when the theater is not being utilized for performances, Shore Medical will have access to it for certain training instruction and seminars. “The partnership is significant in get-

James Cotton returns to area Oct. 22

ATLANTIC CITY WEEKLY • SEPTEMBER 20 - 26, 2012

ERY EARLY IN THE DEVELOPMENT of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey more than 40 years ago, the liberal arts campus was designed to provide a new source in the community for quality performing arts programs. That mandate has continued unabated over the decades. This year’s announcement of the Stockton Performing Arts Center and new Campus Center Theatre features an eclectic blend of classical music, jazz, children’s programs, ballet and even performing pets. Regular contributors like the BayAtlantic Symphony, presenting five programs, and the Atlantic City Ballet with its Nutcracker and Dracula presentations, are back for the new season. Stage shows include Churchill, about the masterful statesman, Seussical, the Dr. Seuss musical, A Couple of Blagards, about lifelong friends growing up in poverty in Ireland, and Will My Bunny Go to Heaven?, Sister’s Easter Catechism that unearths the origin of Easter bunnies and those yummy Easter Peeps. Other highlights include Philadelphia’s Koresh Dance Company, an acclaimed company on the national stage; The Capital Steps, a group of singers whose parodies take jabs at Washington politicians with satirical glee and Elisabeth Von Trapp & the Empire Brass, presenting The Sound of Christmas at Cape May Convention Hall. The Monday Night Jazz and Blues Series features a performance by the Grammy Award-winning James “Mr. Superharp” Cotton, a blues harmonica master who is celebrating his 68th year as a professional musician. His 30 solo albums include the acclaimed Harp Attack! (1990) with Junior Wells, Carey Bell and Billy Branch. Another musical legend scheduled to appear is singer-songwriter-guitarist Janis Ian, who began her career with the hit single “At Seventeen” and was praised by Ella Fitzgerald as “The best young singer in America,” while guitar legend Chet Atkins once said of her, “Singer? You ought to hear that girl play guitar; she gives me a run for my money!” As for the aforementioned pets, the Popovich Comedy Pet Theater features the juggling and comedic skills of Gregory Popovich and the talents of his performing pets. Each of the show’s 15 cats and 10 dogs were once strays, rescued from animal shelters. Now they show off their skills in amazing stunts and skits. n

ILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, THE latest film from David O. Russell (The Fighter) made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival and after earning the Blackberry People’s Choice Award, it has vaulted to Oscar buzz-worthy status. That the film, set in Philadelphia, features a serious side order of Eagles fan obsession, along with its delightfully authentic romance between two broken people (played by Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence) is a bonus. After seeing 30 films in eight days, Playbook remained one of my favorite films from the festival. My other favorites with Oscar possibilities include Cloud Atlas, based on the novel by David Mitchell, an epic sci-fi drama with comedy that intertwines six different stories across time, directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski (The Matrix) and Tom Tkywer (Run Lola Run). The deeper we go, the more these different threads wind together into a tale of humanity’s flaws and the search for meaning in the universe. It is a lot funnier (in a good way) then the summation suggests, and all of the storylines are compelling. With Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant playing multiple characters that cross time and gender (Berry as a white Jewish woman, Weaving as a woman, Tom Hanks as a British black gangster and Susan Sarandon as a man), Cloud Atlas should earn a look from the Academy members. Also Oscar worthy is The Sessions, especially the performances by John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone) as a man confined to an iron lung who doesn’t want to die a virgin and Helen Hunt as the sex surrogate he hires to accomplish that goal. The Impossible has Oscar-worthy elements including great acting (by Ewan Like us:

McGregor, Naomi Watts, and newcomer Tom Holland) and a thrilling rippedfrom-the-headlines tale about a family caught in the terrifying 2004 tsunami. Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage), this real life disaster film recreates the horror of that wall of water in vivid detail in this grueling survival story. Argo has earned a ton of Oscar buzz although I’m not one of its fans. It wasn’t bad, but Ben Affleck’s drama, about how the CIA, in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy, managed to smuggle six Americans out of Iran during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1980 is bland and lacks suspense except for the final 15 minutes. And while I would applaud Oscar nominations for either Phillip Seymour Hoffman or Joaquin Phoenix for The Master, the latest film from Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood) keeps us at an emotional distance in its tale about a cult-like leader in the 1950s that some claim is based on Scientology’s L. Ron Hubbard. Here is a list of my 10 favorite films from the Toronto Film Fest: 1) Cloud Atlas HHH½ 2) Silver Linings Playbook HHH½ 3) Casting By (documentary about casting directors) HHH½ 4) The Place Beyond the Pines (multi-story drama with Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper) HHH 5) The Impossible HHH 6) The Sessions HHH 7) The Sapphires (Australian musical) HHH 8) Free Angela Davis and All Political Prisoners (documentary) HHH 9) Tai Chi 0 (epic Kung Fu flick) HHH 10) When Day Breaks (Croatian drama) HHH n

this — participating with trainers and contributing what I know about fitness disciplines. As far as seminars and appearances I tend to do them between fights when I can fit them in.” Edgar is a former standout high school and Division-1 collegiate wrestler. He is 14-3-1 as an MMA fighter, with his last two fights being five-round decision losses to current UFC lightweight (155-pound limit) champion Benson Henderson (17-2). His only other loss was by decision to Gray Maynard (11-1-1), who won a split verdict over Clay Guida at Revel’s Ovation Hall in June in A.C. Edgar and Maynard — a devoted vegan and fitness fanatic — fought three times and are 1-1-1 against each other. Edgar fought twice in Atlantic City, both early career wins en route to an 8-0 pro start. “Based of the nature of the sport — especially with guys like Gray who tend to cut a lot of weight for fights — it’s necessary to stay pretty regimented and in a training regime year-round,” says Edgar. “Even in between fight camps you’re sticking with a regimen and trying to stay in the best shape possible all the time. “Boxers might just train for a particular fight, but with MMA guys ... it often involves getting right back into the gym after fights. Personally I’ll take a week off after a fight and then it’s right back into the gym, training, trying to improve in all areas. There’s so many factors in MMA. There’s definitely less of an intensity level when you’re not in a fight camp, but once fight camp starts you’re cranking the intensity level up a few notches.” n

N ADAGE THAT ASSERTS “WHEN you have your health you have everything, and when you don’t have your health nothing else matters” will be the gist behind the inaugural Sweat AC Health & Fitness Festival happening Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21-23, at Caesars Atlantic City. The nerve center of Sweat AC will be Caesars’ spacious Palladium Ballroom. Several other venues throughout the property — and throughout sister properties Bally’s and Showboat — will serve as sites for seminars and workout classes on a variety of modernfitness subjects. A one-time fee of $39 gains attendees access for all three days, and workout classes and seminars range from $49 to $99 (see sidebar for costs and times, plus ancillary events). On Saturday (4pm) in Caesars’ Empire B room, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and former champion in the sports’ premier league, the UFC, Frankie Edgar will conduct an MMA workout class called “The Champ is Here.” The one-hour session will provide some insight into the world of the professional MMA fighter, and will include one-onone demonstrations with class attendees and a Q&A session after the class. “I’ll show them some of what my training regimen includes, some of the stuff I do to prepare for fights,” Edgar, a Toms River native, tells Atlantic City Weekly. “Some of it will be a little more fitness based, some a little more MMA based depending on the level of the participants. I’ll sort of tailor it around who shows up and what they’re more interested in knowing. “This is my first time doing an expo like
