PhD Funding Opportunities
Research and teaching assistantships
Dean’s Fellowship: This prestigious award is for highly qualified incoming domestic PhD students. The Dean’s Fellowship provides tuition, health insurance and a stipend. This award is a commitment to four academic years plus summers. Fellows will hold a 50% FTE graduate research associate position, working with faculty conducting research in their field of interest.
Most PhD students fund their education through research assistantships (RA) or teaching assistantships (TA). An RA’s main responsibility is to provide research support to one or more faculty members. RA’s receive tuition support and a monthly stipend. A TA’s primary role is to provide instructional assistance to their supervising faculty member. This could include lecturing, proctoring exams, grading, etc. TA’s can be paid hourly or receive tuition support with a monthly stipend.
Fulton Fellowship: Open to accomplished incoming international and domestic PhD students, the Fulton Fellowship is a competitive, one-time, award ranging from $500 to $5,000. Find eligible criteria and application requirements at: graduate.engineering.asu.edu/fellowships
