The sun shines brighter

Arizona has more than just sunshine — you can also find expertise for solar panel manufacturing through the semiconductor industry, demand for solar and renewable energy and a world-class research university that leads development of sustainable solar technology.

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is home to the largest solar research facility in the country and is the only university where you can make a full-size, commercial solar cell.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity brings together leading faculty in engineering, social sciences, law and business to protect our digital lives. Research on automated cyber reasoning systems, identity management, privacy issues, malware attribution, secure mobile devices and digital forensics make it harder for hackers to access personal information and vital infrastructure.

By designing and creating systems that learn and reason independently, the field of artificial intelligence has the potential to not only complement human ability, but extend our capacity by performing repetitive tasks or working in environments where humans cannot easily go such as the deep sea or space.

AI

Automation and robotics

Research in human-machine collaboration, autonomous decision-making, robotic swarm modeling, analysis, control and optimization and natureinspired robotics systems are just some areas that support our focus on automation and robotics. Our goal is for society to benefit from the best of robots interacting with humans.

Manufacturing

ASU is a premier destination for manufacturing engineering and preparing students to be leaders in a thriving industry. Future manufacturing engineers will be experts in modeling, automation, sensing, advanced manufacturing processes, robotics, humanmachine teaming, machine learning and digital twin systems, among other areas.

ASU Charter

ASU is a comprehensive public research university, measured not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes and how they succeed; advancing research and discovery of public value; and assuming fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves.
