Time flies! Our 5th issue is here! So aligned to our aspirations of bringing out this class-apart webzine to showcase the Asian narrative globally. This marks to us as the first comprehensive summer issue of year two of Aspire Magazine London. All issues are special and more and more work goes into a new issue as we strive to aspire to showcase content that inspires! FIRST BOLLYWOOD SONG GETS LAUNCHED IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

Akshay Kumar’s film has become the first Indian film whose song has been launched internationally. Upcoming Bollywood film RAKSHA BANDHAN' LATEST SONG LAUNCH WITH AKSHAY KUMAR, BHUMI PEDNEKAR, AANAND L RAI took place on Monday 18TH JULY 2022 at CINEWORLD FELTHAM in London. The song Done Kar Do was launched.

Marking the first time ever for a Bollywood song launch in London which took social media by the storm, the stars of upcoming film Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar and director Aanand L Rai were there for the launch of the latest song from the film exclusively to fans and audiences at Cineworld Feltham on Monday 18th July.

The stars entered the venue to the beats of Dhol, an event well facilitated by Media House London for media in attendance who wanted to ask questions about

the song and film from the stars to take that to their readership in UK. The stars interacted with fans in the audience and well known radio jockey in UK Anushka Arora was the emcee of the event and did a great job in keeping everyone engaged. A great and catchy song launch event took place which was one to remember for one and all!

Much awaited upcoming film Raksha Bandhan is a Hindi comedy-drama set against the backdrop of middle-class life at Chandni Chowk in Delhi, India. Starring Bhumi Pednekar

opposite Akshay Kumar, the film also features Neeraj Sood, Seema Pahwa, Sadia Khateeb, Abhilash Thapliyal, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth and Sahejmeen Kaur.

Written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon, the Aanand L Rai directorial has been coproduced by Aanand L Rai, Alka Hiranandanai and ZEE Studios. The music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya. Presented by Colour Yellow, ZEE Studios and Cape of Good Films, the film is set to hit screens on 11th August 2022.

With her research leading her increasingly in the direction of recipes rooted in traditional, ayurvedic Indian medicine, she found a chef trained in ayurvedic principles and rented a kitchen near her London West End offices.

Sakshi began to distribute her meals via Deliveroo and her

customer base was steadily growing when Covid hit. The lockdown gave Sakshi the opportunity to turn what had originally been a passion project into a full-fledged business.

She worked with research scientists to investigate the links between

INDUSTRIALIST NAROTAM SEKHSARIA UNVEILED HIS BOOK AT TAJ CHAMBERS LONDON

On June 10th, 2022, Mr Narotam Sekhsaria, famed for founding and building Ambuja Cements which is a major Indian cement producing company, unveiled his book– The Ambuia Story to a house full audience at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences, a famous Chambers members club. This was an evening of revelations and life lessons with one of the doyens of Indian Industry in London.

The Ambuja Story, a book told by the man himself, is a tale of grit, determination, honesty, integrity and celebrates one of India’s most inspiring stories of entrepreneurship. He shared many of his tales with the evening’s host Amish Tripathi author and also Director of Nehru Centre London who facilitated the discussion. Mr Sekhsaria revealed that he wants his book to become a source of inspiration for the next generation of Indian entrepreneurs by offering them a candid perspective of business, life and the industry as a whole.

For a cement company, it’s a unique case study that broke many stereotypes and outlines how an industry such as cement production can be an environmentally friendly activity and dispelling the myth that good cement can’t be cheaper. Ambuja also revolutionised the selling and marketing in the industry and found new avenues of promoting a product such as cement.

The book outlines Narotam Sekhsaria’s vision for Ambuja and delves in to how it wasn’t just for

financial success; he also undertook community development with gusto around all Ambuja plants.

It highlights Ambuja’s work in areas of women empowerment, skill development, health and education as they created new benchmarks for the industry long before corporate social responsibility became a mandate in India. The Ambuja Story provides a new perspective on business and life, inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs to scale greater heights indeed.

Narotam Sekhsaria’s story is truly amazing. He started his career at his family business, predominantly trading cotton. He subsequently switched career in the early 1980s, giving up trading to set up Ambuja Cements. Over the next decade, Mr Seksharia built Ambuja Cements into one of the world's most efficient, profitable and greenest cement companies. honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour of the country, and in 2012, she was awarded Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour.

Javed Akthar is an Indian poet, lyricist, screenwriter, and political activist. Not only known for his work in Hindi cinema, he has also received five national film awards along with two of India’s highest civilian honours; the Padma Shri in 1999, and the Padma Bhushan in 2007.

Sangeeta Datta hosted the event and facilitated the intimate conversations between the two honourable guests throughout the evening.

Alexandra Palace is a Grade II listed entertainment and sports venue in London, built on the site of Tottenham Wood and the later Tottenham Wood Farm. Hidden from the world for 80 years, this once sleeping giant has been reawakened for a new generation to discover.

The auditorium is a traditional style Victorian theatre with a capacity of 900. It has been newly restored and reopened, retaining the original Victorian architecture.

Mr. Amritraj was honored for his contributions to tennis jointly by the International Tennis Hall of Fame and International Tennis Federation in London.

In recognition of his outstanding impact on the sport of tennis as a player, promoter, and humanitarian, India’s Vijay Amritraj has been named the recipient of the Golden Achievement Award recently.

Mr. Amritraj’s family and friends, along with tennis, business and political leaders came out to celebrate the Golden Achievement Award at the at the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences in London. Mr. Amritraj has been associated with the Taj since the 1980’s, and the hotel shares a very special bond with him. Machine de Cirque’s Co-founder and Artistic Director Vincent Dubé said:

Machine de Cirque was at the Peacock Theatre in London from Wednesday 1 June to Saturday 11 June with Machine de Cirque, the show.

Machine de Cirque is a Québec City-based circus company staging a poetic and humorous production in which six guys find themselves alone in the world. They embark on a quest to contact other survivors with the help of a strange machine. In a universe devoid of women and computers, they easily let themselves get distracted by their flights of fantasy and share a special talent for getting themselves into tricky situations.

Machine de Cirque: The Company Founded in 2013 under the initiative of Vincent Dubé, Raphaël Dubé, Yohann Trépa-nier, Ugo Dario, Maxim Laurin and Frédéric Lebrasseur, Machine de Cirque launched its very first production in May 2015 to rave reviews by both audiences and critics alike. This maiden production, including its cabaret version, has been performed more than 700 times in Europe, Asia and North America. More than 300,000 spectators have attended this show and this number continues to grow.

I really wanted to see a queer Muslim story that wasn’t pandering to the white gaze so thought I’d better write it.

The P Word by Waleed Akhtar is Directed by Anthony Simpson-Pike. The Set and Costume Designer is by Max Johns. The Lighting Designer is Elliot Griggs. The superb Cast is of Esh Alladi and Waleed Akhtar.

Zafar flees homophobic persecution in Pakistan to seek asylum in the UK. Londoner Bilal (or Billy as he prefers to be known) is ground down by the complexity of being a brown gay man. Their worlds are about to change forever. Zafar’s quote of the play has to be ‘I’m not in your Britain. I’m in another Britain.’

The play started out as a seed commission at the Bush, with Waleed writing a full first draft in just a week and the team was so excited and inspired by its activism, truthfulness, and hopefulness. It’s a queer story that could not be more relevant to Britain today.’

The play is gripping in the intimate setting, the performances are stellar, the storyline is engrossing; Painful and Hopeful in equal measure. The music background score in parts of the play when it comes up and the set with its lighting and effects are all on point, so impactful. It’s a rare kinda British-Asian production and with a narrative that’s surely raised the bar in new age theatre. It’s a five star production surely. Highly recommended!

The Bush have worked with Micro Rainbow to realise this production. Micro Rainbow opened the first safe house in the United Kingdom dedicated solely to LGBTQI asylum seekers and refugees.

A HIGH-OCTANE BOLLYWOOD PRODUCTION’S WORLD PREMIERE IN LONDON

Witness the nostalgia and re-live the atmosphere of 80s Bollywood disco in all its technicolour glory as one of the most iconic Bollywood musicals of all time and the pioneer of the Box Office 100 Crore Club, Disco Dancer, sets the London stage ablaze.

Disco Dancer The Musical makes its world premiere debut at Sadler’s Wells from 16th – 20th November 2022 the high-octane production running across seven shows. Introducing new audiences while reconnecting older generations to the lead characters and lovers from the silver-screen blockbuster, ‘Jimmy’ and ‘Kim’ are joined by an ensemble cast of supporting characters and a troupe of talented dancers.

The world-famous home of dance, Sadler’s Wells in London is hosting this stage adaptation of the Bollywood cult classic. Its superhit soundtrack has been reimagined by multi award-winning Bollywood composers, SalimSulaiman, India’s most acclaimed composer duo, their previous stage compositions include the Sadler’s Wells production, Umrao Jaan Ada.

Saregama Live, the events division of India’s oldest music label, Saregama, and innovators of Indian music for a global audience, have brought the trailblazing, big-screen superhit to life onstage. Recreating the original soundtrack by the legendary King of Disco and Pop, the late Bappi Lahiri, Disco Dancer The Musical provides an atmospheric, live theatre experience for audiences. The all-time hit film and its tale of love and vengeance is transferred to the stage and recreated through elaborate dance, music, melodrama, emotion and comedy. The show is co-produced by Zero Gravity Entertainment.

The 1982, Bollywood super hit, Disco Dancer, became the biggest foreign hit film of the 80s, starring King of Dance, Mithun Chakraborty, and directed by B. Subhash. Its soundtrack was composed by legendary maestro, the late Bappi Lahiri. The musical pioneer was famed for redefining the disco and pop genres in popular Indian cinema. The film featured anthemic,

dancefloor classics that have gained notoriety and fans across the globe, such as “I Am a Disco Dancer” and “Koi Yahan Nache Nache”.

The seminal “Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja” has taken its own international journey over the years. It was featured in the Adam Sandler hit, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, and welcomed a cover version by international music artist, M.I.A. More recently, the song has been appropriated in China, where it has gone viral on social media during the current lockdown. The film’s soundtrack has continued to be championed across the decades and around the globe. The album went platinum in India at the time while becoming synonymous with the genre of Bollywood disco.

Disco Dancer The Musical is directed and choreographed by Rajeev Goswami, whose West End stage credits include Beyond Bollywood and Umrao Jaan Ada; and film credits include blockbusters such as Veer-Zaara, Bunty Aur Babli and Dhoom.

Written by Nicholas Bernard, Irfan Siddiqui, Ali Haji, Khush Mullick and Veer Panchal, Disco Dancer The Musical is adapted from the original script by Dr. Rahi Masoom Reza and Deepak Balraj Vij, The story chronicles the romance between Jimmy and Kim and Jimmy’s anguish as his mother dies in a wicked conspiracy.

The grand-scale stage production features Arjun Tanwar, Hriday Gattani, Salonie Khanna, Tia Kar, Varun Tewari and Dipeesh Kashyap, joined by an ensemble of dancers. Performances will be introduced by British Asian, stand-up comedian, Shazia Mirza. Leading talent and creatives in Indian film and theatre have come together to craft an immersive fantasy world onstage during a week of unmissable performances.
