Welcome

In the bustling, kaleidoscopic world of art, few events spark as much excitement and anticipation as art fairs. This vibrant gathering, celebrated globally, draws together artists, collectors, galleries, and enthusiasts into a unique, dynamic space where art is not merely displayed but actively engaged with, discussed, and exchanged.

Being a pivotal fixture in the cultural calendar, Art Space is pleased to participate in an art fair of its own, at the Dockside Vaults in 2025, and showcase its growing portfolio of highly skilled contemporary artists.

The Dockside Vaults consists of a large network of tunnels spanning 10,000 square feet. Boasting an architectural marvel of brickwork and raw aesthetic, 10 cavernous cellars create the ideal space for a variety of events and shows.

Fusing together contemporary qualities with 160 years of history that permeate through every corner of this remarkable venue, the London Art Fair hosted by Art Space will run for 2 exciting weeks and showcase some of the world’s greatest talents.

With a variety of exclusive VIP events taking place on both the 13th and 20th of March 2025, live music, beverages and a selection of canapés will accompany these memorable moments of culture and creativity.

Showcasing our renowned Art & Culture Magazine, visitors and artists can delve into a world of art and academia, featuring some iconic figures in the contemporary artworld today. In a chance to showcase artwork to international art collectors, the London Art Fair will be the first of numerous showcases to be hosted internationally throughout the year.

Other destinations where we will be showcasing our artwork will include Marbella, Monaco, Seville, Dubai and Gibraltar. 2025 starts off with a large portfolio to be showcased in the mecca of contemporary culture that is the vibrant and bustling city of London.

Victor Rose Ann

Rose Ann finds solace in her art, as a sanctuary from the storms of life. Specialising in portraiture, she explores the unspoken language of facial expressions and reading between the lines. Using the most challenging moments in life to inspire her and craft something beautiful and highly personal from her easel, Rose Ann finds comfort and strength in creativity and colour.

How did your passion for art begin?

Ever since I was a very young girl, I always had a pencil in my hand, and I would always draw, paint and sketch. This is what I did with my time and also, embroidery or anything creative really.

Who have been some of your biggest influences in the artworld?

When moved to France, I would visit lots of museums. One that stood out was the Musée Rodin. Even though don’t specialise in sculpture, the French artist really stood out to me, alongside Camille Claudel, for the way in which they moulded their figures and their faces with such expression.

How do you approach creating a new piece of art from start to finish?

normally use photography first. It starts off with either an image that I’ve taken, an image that somebody has, or an image that I find and use as a reference. Then I will work on the image digitally. I will superimpose more than one image, or might play with colour schemes to fit the mood. I’ll print them out and then start to draw to see how it will transfer on to paper.

What was the inspiration behind your clown portraits?

Assisting with makeup in the pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in 2024, had me thinking about how much

we might wear makeup to hide or to pretend to be somebody else. linked the exaggerated makeup to clowns and ‘clowning around’ as well as mental health. One may joke around, but in reality, may be suffering from depression and try to mask how they’re really feeling.

What guidance would you offer to aspiring artists?

Do what you love! If you have passion for what you are putting on that canvas or paper it will come across to the viewer. Explore, experiment and don’t be scared to go for it.

Gaduzo Leslie

Fascinated by the Masters Michelangelo and Da Vinci, Leslie loved their artistic progression from painters to sculptors to architects. Excelling in art during his time at school, Leslie returned to Gibraltar in 1990 to begin his career in architecture and attend weekly life drawing lessons. Upon receiving numerous private commissions, Leslie’s passion for the arts continues to flourish till this day.

When did you first realise your skill and passion for art creation?

I suppose that it was something that happened when I was very young, I was good at drawing. It came quite naturally to me. loved drawing pencil portraits of my family members which must still be in my mother’s house.

Do you have any other cultural interests aside from painting and/ or sculpture?

Art takes up most of my day now but there was a time when I was heavily into music and I took up the guitar as a result. From my early teenage years I began to admire the compositional elements of solo electric guitar and years later followed the work of Frank Zappa who was very eclectic in his style and then later Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton who leaned more towards blues music. Painting and music are very similar in that they’re both channels for creative expression.

How did your work begin to gain such recognition?

I suppose that recognition is the result of the exposure that comes from entering into exhibitions and competitions and putting yourself out there. I’d like to think that my work has evolved and improved over time and that it is still of interest and demand locally at least.

What challenges have you experienced in this profession?

I think the biggest challenge is finding your own voice, from a stylistic point of view. It is interesting how that process works because it is impossible to predict what that means until you actually do it and you put in the hours. Eventually you hear people tell you that they recognise your work, which means you’re heading in the right direction.

What would you like to accomplish with your art/what are your future goals?

What would like is to exhibit my work abroad more. I would like to see how my work is received, whether it says something or means something to people.

What are your favourite and least favourite mediums to use?

Every medium brings its own unique challenges; in the early years my sole focus was drawing with graphite pencil; it’s a practical medium and you can go anywhere with it without worrying about leaving a mess. I then took up painting and that opened up a whole new world of possibilities because paints can be manipulated in a myriad of ways.

Have any specific artists influenced your work, if so, which ones?

There are many artists that have influenced my work. From the old masters like Michelangelo and Caravaggio to artists like Soroya, Rembrandt and John Singer Sargent to name but a few. As for contemporary artists would say Antonio Lopez García, who’s urban landscapes are steeped in the depiction of the capture of time; Sophie Jodoin with her dark depictions of war; Joseph Zbukvic who in my opinion is the best watercolourist; Alex Kanevski who set about dismantling the structure of an image with mark-making, and Jeremy Mann and his use of modern impressionistic and unconventional techniques.

Do you have any memorable anecdotes to share with us from your journey as an artist?

I would have to say that every time your work is singled out or given an award of some kind it becomes a memorable moment and makes the journey worthwhile. Prizes are an important incentive to people who have started out competing and are still finding their feet, and it can have a huge impact on their confidence.

What are your favourite movements within the history of art?

Every era brings with it its own unique ideas and approaches to the process of creation. I’m very excited about how we do things today, technology has made an enormous contribution. If I had to choose it would have to be today’s current movement.

What projects are you currently working on/will you be working on next?

At the moment I am working on a series of paintings depicting some aspects of the historical culture around us, these will be released later this year.

Johnson Andrew

Andrew Johnson knew from about the age of six, he would have a career in the art field. So strong was the pull for him to spend his life being creative that even at this early age his heart and mind were set on it. The joy and energy from painting and drawing and the magical escape through art is like another dimension of life for Andrew - a truly magical realm with no boundaries to express himself.

When did you first realise your skill and passion for art creation?

I have been creative and artistic for as long as I can remember. I was always considered to be ‘that good drawer’ throughout my school years! it’s just a natural gift I used to be told, by family and friends of the family as grew up.

Do you have any other cultural interests aside from painting and/ or sculpture?

I have other interests in poetry and cartoons (my degree being in animation and electronic media, so it’s in my history) I am intrigued by the spirit world and I don’t know if this fits

the answer but nature’s energy and spirituality does, which is uplifting in my art.

How did your work begin to gain such recognition?

I set up my own website and also through my facebook page I’ve gained more and more recognition. I think possibly my next biggest customer base after the UK is the USA and I have sold many pieces across the pond. I’ve gained a following by also taking my art to galleries and via exposure that way too. Of course, word of mouth is also a wonderful endorsement from happy clients as well!

What challenges have you experienced in this profession?

My main challenges have been that I’ve had to make certain sacrifices to focus completely on my art as a business and the source of my main income. I’ve downsized and have even spent time living back with my parents to cut down on costs as I became established. Luckily I have wonderful parents and we all get on! It’s always a challenge when (as any artist will know) we hit a dry spell, sales wise, but I knuckle down and create in these quieter times, then it always picks up again.

What would you like to accomplish with your art/what are your future goals?

I’d like to become a household name in the art world and have all the efforts and attention to detail that I put into each creation, afford me a good standard of living from just my art. I’d like to be known for art that is healing and that lifts the soul. My next aim is to produce ranges of hand-embellished limited edition, framed prints as more affordable options for people. I guess I want to lift the energy of our planet!

What are your favourite and least favourite mediums to use?

My favourite mediums are Acrylics with pallet knives (which I use thickly in my art). I also enjoy the versatility of acrylics as they can dilute like watercolours but create beautiful textures at the other end of the scale. I enjoy using clay too to make my little ladybirds for example.

I dislike pastels due to their chalky feel and they’re just messy in my opinion. I am far too impatient for the drying times of oils too and the smell of white spirits etc for cleaning, so I suppose I dislike them also.

Have any specific artists influenced your work, if so, which ones?

There are a couple of artists or artworks that I can like if I see something new but I’ve never religiously followed an artist or tried to create similar styles. I think I’ve just always felt so much creativity within myself that I’ve followed that voice or intuition. Of course there are influences all around, but I don’t think I’ve consciously been inspired by one particular artist.

Do you have any memorable/funny anecdotes to share with us from your journey as an artist?

Once at university I had chicken pox and decided to create art with Calamine Lotion (used to calm the itchiness)! I dropped ink into it in my sketchbook and it looked like rivers of

larva! I made a whole set of characters up (whilst doing my animation degree) that came from that experiment. My message is that it’s good to try all sorts of techniques! Don’t be afraid but be safe!

What are your favourite movements within the history of art?

Pop Art for its boldness, colour use and fresh approach, for it’s time in the days of Warhol, Hockney etc. I think Art Nouveau was a beautiful period of art creation as it drew inspiration from nature, much as I do.

What projects are you currently working on/will you be working on next?

I’ve just completed a large art commission for a client in Perth, Australia and I’m embarking on a commissioned piece for a gentleman who’s partner passed away last year.... a floral piece that has aspects and colours special to him and his loved one. I’ve just recently had work accepted in a gallery in Windermere so I’m hoping the future will bring more opportunities with them also.

Andrew Johnson.

When did you first realise your skill and passion for art creation?

I’ve loved drawing, painting and creating from a really young age. All the way through school, the creative subjects were the ones I looked forward to. The passion for creation was definitely there very early on. In terms of realising I had a skill, this was probably around age 15 or 16 during my GSCE’s. remember having really great feedback from my Art teacher at this time, which, personally, helped so much, and really encouraged me to keep creating and experimenting.

Do you have any other cultural interests aside from painting and/ or sculpture?

Like most people, I love to travel when possible. I love architecture, and once had aspirations to be an architect. I love visiting unique buildings and landmarks. Viewing the works of Gaudi in Barcelona and also visiting the Colosseum in Rome was amazing. They are probably my favourite places so far, but my wife and I have many places on our bucket list that we are yet to see.

How did your work begin to gain such recognition?

I guess when I was lucky enough to have Gallery representation, which then lead to solo exhibitions (both on land and on cruise ships) is where things started to move in terms of recognition. This was so exciting, and I was so grateful to have been given the opportunities to show my works in such beautiful settings.

What challenges have you experienced in this profession?

In those early years, when you’ve decided you’d love to be an artist, finding your style - a way to cut through the noise and stand out is so difficult. It can also be very frustrating and often disheartening. Being able and willing to push through this stage and keep experimenting with different mediums, techniques and styles to find what works for you is such a huge challenge

What would you like to accomplish with your art/what are your future goals?

I would love to develop further a really unique recognisable style when creating my big cats, something that people can really enjoy and connect with. I’m looking forward to continuing to support big cat charities where I can.

What are your favourite and least favourite mediums to use?

I’ve experimented with most mediums, but for now just use airbrush paint and spray paint. Acrylics and oils I would now say are my least favourite these days

What do you want to convey with your art? Eg. how do you want those seeing your art to feel/what are your artistic intentions behind your pieces?

I like to hear when people have made an emotional connection when looking at my work. It’s the nicest feeling when a client gets in contact to tell me how a piece of mine made them feel.

People tell me about pieces reminding them of lost loved ones, or perhaps the expression of a tiger for example triggers a special memory of theirs.

Have any specific artists influenced your work, if so, which ones?

I’m very specific about what art I like and there isn’t a specific artist that has inspired me more than any other. I respect all artists, even if I really dislike the artwork they produce.

Do you have any memorable/funny anecdotes to share with us from your journey as an artist?

I’ve been very lucky to have exhibited all over the world in some amazing venues, but my most memorable experiences are seeing the big cats in their natural space during safari trips. I absolutely love being able to photograph the cats and use the photos as inspiration to create my works, I’m so very lucky to have been able to do this.

What projects are you currently working on/will you be working on next?

I have so many ideas for future works. I’m enjoying combining my abstract style with more traditional avenues. I’m not really defining my style just yet, as there are so many things i’d like to try!
