Located opposite the Helsinki Art Museum on Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu, is a small friendly gallery that works in co-operation with the association Arte Vida Arte to support the Art School CASA.
Art school CASA (Centro de Assistencia Social e Artistica) was founded in August 2005 by Helena and Edson Cardoso. Art School is ment for underprivileged children living in the favela of Cidade de Deus - City of God, in Rio de Janeiro. 3
AVA Art Festival 2016 OSAKA In AVA Art Festival will meet contemporary art from Japan, Finland, Sweden, Portugal and Brazil. Exhibition will take place in Enokojima Art, Culture and Creative Center in Osaka. Curators are Yasuo Kitai, director of Gallery KITAI in Tokyo and Edson Cardoso, director of AVA Galleria in Helsinki. After Osaka the AVA Art festival will occur in Brazil and in Sweden during 2016-2017.

She studied at Kyoto Saga Art College, specializing in the conservation and restoration of cultural property. Against a background of Japanese philosophy, aesthetics and culture, she has continued to draw and paint the nature of Japan for over 18 years. As well as being highly praised within Japan, her work has also been featured in numerous international exhibitions.

Kunio Abe www.kitaikikaku.co.jp/artists/abekunio/ The artwork “Vision” series of Kunio Abe is like the scenery as if looking through a microscope appears on the canvas. Elementary particle which is the minimum unit constituting the substance, as to form the shape of everything gathered them, what we have usually eyes, or what convinced that is visible was limited in how superficial he asks. Continuous reticulated world as elastic waves looks like cells constituting the organism. Also the black line and object that appear in there seem to represent the whereabouts of the signal of the intention and feelings of organisms. Gravitational wave is called a phenomenon that travels at the speed of light as a wave by the time variation of the distortion of space-time that happened in the universe. If an organism is likened to a universe, intention and feelings that daily occur in a variety of causes emitted become a wave as the gravity wave. The “Vision” series portrays such as the "truth of the universe" and "origin of organisms " and the deep in the back of the more light and shadow.

Mizuho Koyama http://mizuho-koyama.com/ www.kitaikikaku.co.jp/artists/koyamamizuho/ Calli-Graphiti - New Liberation of Sho Mizuho Koyama devoted herself for many years to the study of calligraphy under a teacher who placed a high value on traditional sho. Subsequently, in the course of her exploration of her own expressions, she has eagerly read, listened to and paid close attention to a variety of things including poems and stories in order to absorb them, a practice that has eventually enabled her to make three innovations. Her first innovation has been to make use of poetry in English and other types of alphanumeric writing that people all over the world can read. Secondly, she has incorporated factors taken from the free graffiti that grew up on the streets of New York, which can be regarded as the extreme opposite from traditional sho with its rigid rules of character expression. Thirdly, she has ingeniously harmonized on paper the classics and techniques of sho that she has learned with the two innovations above to establish her original style of expression. At the core of these three successful innovations is her grand wish to create works that touch the conscience and aesthetic sense shared by people around the world deep in their hearts beyond the borders of nationality, religion and the eraâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;a wish that she expresses in simple black and white.

I always produce works choosing human-beings as a theme, for example, emotion arising naturally in the mind, consciousness formed for a long time, meaning of life, etc. I understand all of those in a positive way, reconstruct them in a new way and bring out the meaning or the value of life vividly. Moreover Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d like to suggest a direction of hope to people and the society through my works. My technique of repeat and accumulation, characteristic of my works, has an important role to symbolize infinity and universality. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m recently producing works by using the material characteristic of transparent resin clay. My artistic technique is to paste objects on the theme of humane life, or objects designed in the motif of nature on translucent acrylic plates. These many objects express the images of the filters purifying peoples' mind.

Reiko Tsunashima www.kitaikikaku.co.jp/artists/tsunashimareiko Tsunashima, who graduated from Musashino College of Art and Design, learned calligraphy as a member of Toyo Shogeiin and then went independent. Since 2001, when she presented her works at an art fair in Belgium, she has been releasing works at various art fairs held in New York, Milan, Switzerland, Shanghai, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Singapore and other places and these efforts have met a very favorable response. In 2002, she published a collection of works entitled “Scene of Sumi,” containing works that are abstract representations using sumi. The subjects are apparently natural landscapes, which she calls “all scenes of sumi.” Because the climate at the time of production has a significant impact on the conditions of sumi, water and paper, the works are also characterized as being “collaborations with nature.” The contingency of the blurring of sumi in the process of moving the brush is an inevitable process that can be used to express “something” that emanates there. Meanwhile, the cutting and layout of the mats on the panels are elaborately calculated, which contributes to an established style of expression that is both simple and original.

I have got my painting knowledge mostly fom Stockholm, Sweden, where I lived for a period of time. The most important thing for me in painting is the colours. My colours find their forms in nature. I think the most interesting in the nature are the tiny elements like leaves, roots, seeds, and bulbs.They carry the secrets and the beauty of the nature inside. They offer interesting forms and ideas for a painter. In these Osaka paintings I have created rough-surfaced canvas on purpose. I have made the colours by my self with pigments and binder. I have explored how the light moves and reflect on the surface of rough painting. I think it is fascinating. The topics of the Osaka paintings come the first named (Supermoon) from the space and the other one (Hope, Burden, and Farewell) from the poem that tells us how breakable and passing the human life is.

I am painter. I mainly paint by oil or watercolor. The main subjects of my paintings are the view, the space and the environment. I am fascinated by traditional landscape painting. The basis of my artwork is to create an illusion of the three-dimensional space and to make a viewer reflect the meaning of the environment. My artistic working focuses on having constant dialogue with the surrounding reality. Its existence and expressions are made real by painting. My purpose is not to present a detailed and skillful perception of the object, but to reveal its inner world and to achieve an aesthetic value.

Taru Tomperi is visual artist, painter and art’s teacher. She has held several individual exhibitions and participated in more than one hundred joint exhibitions in Finland and abroad. Over the years, she has used numerous different painting techniques, but lately she has mainly concentrated on aquarelle technique. Her interest towards watercolours was awakened partly through possibilities that lie in this technique. The technical challenges are huge, but so can be the rewards too. Water and pigment often react in an unexpected way with each other due to the changing factors in the way of working. The final result is influenced by e.g. the proportion of the colour and water, their relationship to each another, quickly changing wetness of the painting surface and the ambient temperature. Taru ´s pictures often move between abstract and realistic. The themes arise out of her inner world and experience. Those sometimes change and take unidentifiable forms in her mind. Her art works can be interpreted in many different ways. Every interpretation in equally correct.

The short time I spent in the 90's in Latin America, has affected my art and my soul. At the same time, when I was studying the Spanish language, I learned body language. I had to observe my surroundings, to make me aware of dangers. I studied people's movements and gestures, in order to understand what is happening. That observation is still going on. The most common motive for my art is people. Even in landscape painting, there is a human being too. I am particularly interested in his movement and posture. The wrist, neck or pelvic posture tells me about the person's feelings. Those feelings build the atmosphere of my paintings by metaphoric way. For example, the skating person in my painting is not only doing muscle activity, but above all it is an expression of freedom, joy or flirting. I'm not interested in documenting people, although there is some realism in my paintings. But I am fascinated by realism with little symbolic and mystical characters in the atmosphere. Having something more than real life has. The finnish Art critic Hannu Castrén has defined my art style as Magical Realism. She works often with the shapes of houses and boats recur in many of her motifs, lonely houses who transformed into symbols of identity and body, and represents the solitary monument in a space where they do not belong. The artworks characters with an inner potential, about to be born, naked and isolated from the urban environment. Knowledge gets the objective from the nature and each body has a place it naturally belongs.

I am orderly because orderliness gives a sensation of security. I have always painted series. I choose one theme or method of which I paint tens of variations.The reason why I do not do “action painting” , as thousands of male artists do, is that I like painting so much that I cannot leave it so easily. In 1984 – 1989 I was an ”action painter”. Artists rejoiced, they said my paintings were “real art”. But I got fed up and as my storage space filled up with rapidly painted works, I began again to paint a work a longer time because I love working. There is often a conceptual art viewpoint. The four seasons of Finland have seen me travel with my camera, guided by our cultural myths, in ice and water and among the clouds. In my ongoing project I discuss with European art history. Photography and painting meet when my camera is a brush and my movements create a painterÂ´s style. Those art historyÂ´s iconic flowers, tulips, interpret the styles of modern art. They become abstract colour music, full of energy. Light, colours, composition: everything is original, because there is no image-editing. My images document the moments of intensive seeing. I am always interested in how we observe our world and find meaning in it. Although an immaterial image may change into a solid work of art for an exhibition, it is in a way reborn every time when somebody - people with different life stories - looks at it and experiences a feeling. I am a visual artist living and working in Kankaanpää, Finland. The themes of my art works are mighty based on mundane. Daily grey as a metaphor as well as a conseptual way of thinking of a colours are the key combination of working with the theme. Memories, present and future dreams are joining to statements and shouts of daily joys and challences. By varieting the level of abstraction, mundane stories are projecting more complex layer of experiences. Ostensible carefee colourfullness or mundane grey might conceal way more than meets the eye.

I have an academic background in painting as well as studies in expressive arts therapy. The art therapy studies have involved the body and added movement in the process of painting. Tuuli Helve is a Finnish visual artist who studied Fine arts in Turku Art Academy and Graphic arts in Lahti Art Institute and did her MA studies in University of Arts and Design, Helsinki. She combines photography and printmaking in her work. She takes pictures - collects them, and later uses them as a material for her new, recomposed graphic versions. Prints become graphic collages – decorative wallpaper-like patterns, or imaginary yard-environments. Both prints are parts of larger installations: ”Home” (2008) and ”Shed, Granary, Barn-Collections” (2012). These prints share her interest in architecture, housing areas and environment.

www.anueskelin.com A German sculptor, Sabine Kuehnle, a friend of mine, describes my paintings: Through the movement with which Eskelin applies paint to the canvas she consciously lets herself be led into the depth of oblivion, into the realm of the subconscious. Memories emerge, want to surface along with her. These are traces of landscapes, figures and architectural fragments, which are revealed to us in the interaction of shapes forming and dissolving. It is a to and fro, a hesitant revealing and concealing of the emerging images. “Through the application of individual coats of paint the themes that seeks visualization gradually reveals itself,” explains the artist. The images come to her. During the painting process she effectively moves between the two worlds. She ventures on the experience of the abyss. Our eyes glide as if in dance across Anu Eskelin’s paintings, repeatedly pausing, finding rest. At a place that seems to be both paradisiacal and past, lost. We might sense what is portrayed but we cannot grasp it. As if we were in a dream-like Arcadia, the place associated with man’s longings. But there are breaks. It is a reflected longing we are dealing with. Elegiac subjects contrast with the often vibrant colors on the canvas. The contemplative encounters the dynamic, the unconscious meets the conscious. When we look at the paintings we move between what are seemingly opposites.

I am a visual artist from Central Finland, living and working in Jyväskylä. I primarily work in installation but I also paint in tempera and oil. In my work, content is of the utmost importance and my pieces usually deal with society and societal values. For the past few years I have studied our social values and how these values affect our society as a whole. Saila Seppo firstname.lastname@example.org My artistic approach focuses on the beauty of nature, on the colours we all see around us. I like to observe and enjoy the different shades of colours and the relationships between them. The plant and animal kingdoms abound with vivid colours. My intention is to mimic the hues of flowers and animals in my abstract 3D artwork. For me, the strongest and most remarkable aspect is the colours and their various combinations. I would like to study how colours are related to each other and how colours appear in relief. It is important for me to find just the right colours for both higher and lower parts of the surfaces. My cellulose relief works may reveal the idea in an abstract, manyfaced and delicate manner. I like to break intangible things into little pieces and, in a sense, rename or reorganise them by using the materialâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s 3D structure. Very often in these cases, the question arises about what the essential impression is. Through my artwork, I explore how colours work together and interact into a philosophical expression. Colours can communicate and express feelings. My art YLE/Harri Hinkka comes from deep within me. I use a new type of cellulose fibre. I wet the fibres and colour them. Then I produce my artwork and dry it. The resulting material can be very fragile and light, but rough and hard at the same time. It also lends itself to making free sculptural forms. The material makes the colours shine very brightly, like the colours of beautiful butterflies.

Merja Hujo Lives and works in Helsinki Light and shadow in all life and nature are the main sources for my artistic work. I have a passion to find new perspectives and ways to express them in my artwork. I mainly paint with oil but I also use acrylics and mixed media depending on a theme I am working on.

Master of Arts, graduated from the University of Art and Design (Aalto University), Helsinki in 1990. Member of the Painters´ Union of Finland and the Association of Finnish Printmakers. Participated in NUROPE, Nomadic University for Art, Philosophy and Enterprise in Europe, 2006-2010 (Åbo Akademi) She has had over 70 solo exhibitions in Finland and elsewhere in Europe since 1983. She has participated in over 130 group exhibitions in Finland and abroad since 1984. Her works can be found in Vienna's Albertina Museum's collections in Austria, as well as Finland's most important collections in Kiasma, Museum of Contemporary Art, Amos Anderson Museum, Wäinö Aaltonen Museum, Helsinki City Art Museum, as well as in the collections of several cities. Hanna was awarded the Kalevala Jewelry´s 60th Anniversary Certificate of Honour in 1997 and the State Award for the 3-year artist grant in 2003-2006. I started making blockprints already in Finland. Later I went to the Netherlands to study in Art Academy Minerva 1978. Nowadays I still work as an artist and I am a member of A Blockprinting assosiation 'Noorderlijke hoogdrukkers HOLT 20 years. I am exhibiting frequently in the Netherlands and abroad.

Iria Ciekca Schmidt´s art comes from the northern
nature and Finnish culture but also the number of years of art education. Ciekca Schmidt was born near Artic Ocean. The art studies took her to the south and abroad. She did not think about her own identity, until working with the group exploring ethnic arts in Holland, she encountered her own background and made a series of paintings of Sámi. Ciekca Schmidt's work, such as the Eight seasons is related to Sámi culture and Arctic nature. She often uses strong red, blue and orange – colours of the northern polar sky. The sun, the moon and stars are important in mythologies and her art. While Sami is a powerful source of inspiration, Ciekca Schmidt has also been inspired by African cultures and landscapes.

Bo Alström Bo Alström is a history painter, a uniquely modern representative of an age-old tradition. At the same time, he is a philosophical and profoundly intuitive modern artist. He empathizes with the experiences of people in distant times and places while maintaining a highly-calibrated sensitivity to color, form, and composition. Alström’s curiosity about human character and motivation, about past events, and about the world in which he lives finds expression in exhilerating images where abstraction and representation and description and imagination collide, interact, and harmonize. In this sense, Alström is a revolutionary history painter. The original intention of history painting was to clearly depict a particular event in order to convey an unambiguous message about the event’s meaning and significance. In contrast, Alström avoids exactitude. His postmodernist way of thinking has led him to the belief that every event, every situation has many interrelated and often competing narratives, and reflecting on these possibilities is something he wants to encourage in the viewer. Alström combines master draftsmanship with coloristic expression. Like pioneer expressionist Wassily Kandinsky (18661944), color and form have clearly defined, independent roles. With their elegaic moods, dynamic symphonies of color, and references to the past, Alström’s paintings invite the viewer to reflect on what has been and what is to come. Just as the burst of pigment in Alström’s paintings consititute the raw material of things as yet unformed, so the world we live in is filled with embryonic possibilities. Alström’s paintings are powerful and poignant reminders of the capacity of the individual imagination and will to create the world in which (s)he lives and a humbling reminder that our actions can have unintended consequences. And in order to enrich our life-giving experience, we journey and dive around the sources of our own instinctive reactions, our values and meanings, our protective module. We then set course towards living in the company of the reserve of our roots, with the daily life that home making itself proposes: the prompt reestablishing of the natural order of things. By retorting to such practices, actions and decisions, we touch the warp of the cloth =of the social fabric we aim to revet ourselves with. Oniric dream? Penelope's dream? Weave the cloak. Seek the warp and mount the weft Recover the cloth. Weave the cloak. Sacred cloak. Mary's cloak. Brazilian artist, she was graduated in fine arts at the School of Fine Arts of S達o Paulo and had postgraduate degree in History of Art. Specializing in watercolor (whith the artisit Ubirajara Ribeiro) and contemporary art at ECA- USP, she already performed in more than 50 exhibitions and official salons in Brazil, Latin America and Europe. Durung these last years she was nominated for several awards and received the Brazilian Master in III and IV Contest Awarded Works (1989/91) and the Medal of the First Latin Competition for New Talent Silver in 1991, besides the Honorable Mention at the International Arts Hall Excellence of Woman 2014 in Sao Paulo. She also attended as Special Guest in a numerous Salons Style in Contemporary Art as performed at MASP in Sao Paulo, and in Passo de Los Libres, Argentina. Last year, she attended of the Official Salon of Santa Barbara d'Oeste, an one exhibition at Ibirapuera Park named "entrepa単os". She also attended of the Biennal dArt Contemporain - Carrousel Du Louvre - Paris. In 2015 she exposed her works in the international exhibition in BCM Gallery in BarcelonaSpain; International exhibition at the Galleria d'Arte Contempoanea- Center Storico Rome - Italy and exposure memory and narrative: the time-space of the artist-books in the Foundation of S達o Caetano do Sul Arts, in Sao Paulo. Recently two of her canvas were sended to the Galerie de Scarf, TouloseFrance and Berlim, december 2015.
Creative moments, is the fourth exhibition of this theme held abroad. This time exhibition takes place in April 2016 at Manhattan, New York. Previous exhibitions were held in Osaka, Japan, in 2010, Berlin, Germany, in 2011 and in London, England 2012. Some of the artists have taken part in all three earlier exhibitions , all the exhibitions have also involved new artists. Changing artists and the variety of how the different types of work communicate with one another is rewarding and interesting to watch. Furthermore, videos of the artists at work have been praised by the viewers. These videos will be presented in New York exhibition also. I am a Finnish artist living in Pieks채m채ki, a small rural town in middle Savonia, surrounded by large lakes and forests. Nature and wildlife are important for me, and by wandering in forests and lakeshores I get my inspiration and mood to my paintings. The basis for my paintings is always in the nature, even though the paintings would be abstract. Colours and the athmosphere they bring are also very important for me. I hope people can find and sense diverse beauty of the nature in my paintings.

It is my way of looking at a painting and , consequently, of making a painting. For me, the tone of the painting and the musical afterimage occurring when looking at it, act as mechanism of interpreting and conveying the image when I work. The painter Tapio Lรถtjรถnen has also had a long career as concert musician and he played as a solo-clarinetist over 30 years in the symphonie orchestra.

The completed painting, in most cases, is an abstract state of mind, a spacious scenery, where â&#x20AC;&#x201C; in the middle of desolation and silence- appears to be nature and buildings. The works of Ismo Hyvärinen are poetic, sensitive paintings filled with colors. The paintings are between abstract and nonabstract – there is a form, a color or a line, which you could image it to remind the startingpoint. Often the name of the work points at a landscape, a boat, a horizon. The paintings can also be considered purely abstract colorcompositions. The works of Ismo Hyvärinen are stimatized by sensitive use of a paintbrush, the counterparts of colors, shapes and surfaces including a strong outburst of feeling. ” My paintings are like windows of something we have already experienced. And they are also like whispering poems of what I wish to face.” Ismo Hyvärinen (1962) has graduated MFA at Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. Earlier he had studied painting at Free Art school in Helsinki. His the first private exhibition was in 1992, and since then he has had several exhibitions especially in Finland.

Ulmanen studied art in Free Art School in Helsinki during 1998-2002. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Finland and abroad since 1986. She has also had several solo exhibitions. Ulmanen uses ash and soot as pigments. She prepares the natural pigment shades herself by burning different types of wood. Nature and water are recurring themes in Ulmanen's paintings. Her work often comments on natural disasters. Her passion is drawing, especially life drawing.

Bridget Allaire Bridget Allaire is an abstract painter who was born in the United States and has worked in Finland for almost 30 years. As well as being an artist, she also has a degree in classical music performance. The colors of Bridget Allaire's palette give birth to spaces that are a result of the collisions and combinations between lines and surfaces. The artist asserts and yet at the same time circumvents something in the work, shuttling within a symbiosis of different art forms. Musicality melts into the painting, sounds thrive within the image. The paintings, with their rhythmically sure, uninhibited emotional reflections, are demanding entities. The lines and colors don't follow their assumed roles, but rather roam as primal forces, revealing a portal into the figure. Elena Hopsu I have worked with different subjects: spiritual topics, landscapes, still life, flowers, portraits, abstract topics, etc. Painting with oil and acrylic colours are my main media, as well the drawing with pencils, cryons, charcoal and oil pastels. I have also used metallic colours in my recent paintings of roses and orchids, which are my favorite flowers. Colours are important to me â&#x20AC;&#x201C; they stimulate my everyday life bringing joy. Especially I enjoy working with the spiritual themes. At the moment I work with abstract oil paintings inspired by psalms. I have painted the series of psalms since 2003, and they were showed at many Art Exhibitons. Hanne Juga Hanne Juga lives and works in Helsinki. Besides working as an artist she has also worked as a scenic painter and design worker in television. Love for the sea can strongly be sensed in Hanne Jugaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s paintings. Painting is a very meditative happening for her. It is a state of being and living she wants to subsist. After getting enchanted by something she has seen; colour, landscape, graphic line, animalâ&#x20AC;Ś her work begins. While working the importance of the first perception may weaken or change, and shamelessly she also romanticize and esteticize beings, splotches, glitters and wastes. Still she finds herself as a painter of perception and as a continuator of the tradition of western landscape painting. Juga likes to use different materials expecially as a base for the painting. Lately she has covered the surface with leafmetall, often on old, used boards, leaving marks and scratches to be seen. Then she contiues working further with shellack, pigments and oilcolours. She doesnÂ´t want to tell long stories, proclaim or provoke by her paintings, but to make paintings that are good to look at and tempts you to return to them over and over again. With her paintings she wants to invite the viewer to get enchanted with her.

Peter Maury My works deal with existential issues. They represent visual fragments of the language of existence and, in a way, descibe a journey in the transliminal border zones of mind. They give no answers, but, instead, they are meant to raise questions and start an existential discussion. Given the importance of time and space in the works, these elements are not only conceptually present, but also reflected in the material itself. The oxidation process structuralizes and colorates the metal plates in a timedependent self-catalyzing mode that unavoidably deconstructs the well-organized surface to reveal a deeper and more complex inner layer: they define themselves in their own realization.

Tarja Tella Painting, drawing or photographing are forms of visual expression as well as forms of thinking and language. In my opinion a very direct flash of my self onto canvas, acrylic glass or metal plate.Painting with oil color is the most suitable media for me. Its` flexibility and possible to model the oil color paste is just the best! Often I want my photos looking like paintings. Indistinctness, playfulness and colorfulness are important basic means of expression. Sometimes I mix up photograph and painting. Recently I`ve done photoseries in St Petersburg (2014), in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto (2010) and in Berlin (2011) and New York (2011). F.ex. "Hare" and "Pokemonland" are photoseries and documentation of artprocesses. Painting can be very physical activity. Being in the same room with big scale paintings might be as its best really effective. A touchful work of art is a part of interaction. As its best a subject, not an object. IÂ´m living and working in Joensuu in the Eastern part of Finland. I need nature and forests around me. But opposite that I need to change landscape, city and country, continet. After all North is my point of the compass. My political attitude can be seen in my anxious attitude for nature, especially forests and oceans. And people trying to survive against the pressure that comes from global large.scale industries or ruler states. F.ex. I think people have their rights on their ancient landscapes. -That all might be seen in my art in small fracments or as a whole work of art.

ARTISTIC RESIDENCE IN PENEDO, RIO DE JANEIRO Cultural institute, Instituto Cultural Nórdico Brasil Finlândia (ICNBF) and Arte Vida Arte Association will open in January 2017 in Penedo a residence for the artists from the Northern countries. Penedo is the only Finnish colony in Brazil. A group of Finnish immigrants arrived there in 1929 and today's main economic activity is in tourism. Its main attractions are beautiful nature with colourful birds, butterﬂies, waterfalls, mountains and trails. It is a perfect and enjoyable environment to get to know other culture and to create and produce new ideas. Residence will welcome painters, sculptors, authors, photographers and bird watchers from the Northers Countries. Periods in the residence varies between 1 and 3 months and there is also possibility to participate workshops with children from the project CASA in Rio de Janeiro.

AVA Gallery AVA Gallery is a small, friendly gallery, located opposite the Helsinki Art Museum on Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu. The gallery’s owners, Helena and Edson Cardoso, exhibit both Finnish and many foreign artists at AVA Gallery, and participate annually in international exhibitions and art events around the world.
CASA, THE ART SCHOOL FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN Art school CASA (Centro de Assistencia Social e Artistica) was founded in August 2005 by Helena and Edson Cardoso. Art School is ment for underprivileged children living in the favela of Cidade de Deus - City of God, in Rio de Janeiro. The schoolâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s aim is to help these children fulďŹ l their dreams of a better future through the power of art and to give them a constructive hobby and direction in their lives. There are currently 15 children in the school, ranging in age from 4-15 years. We hope that our work will help prevent these children from ending up on the streets. The Finnish organisation, Arte Vida Arte ry, funds CASA. The Finnish artists from our organisation have been visiting Cidade de Deus and working with the children for the last six years. You can also be a part or this valuable project and help give these children a better future. 6/22/2014 there is going to be a workshop held together with the kids and the artists in the Calouste Gulbenkian Art Center. The workshop is a part of the Art School CASA's program, in which the kids and the youth of favela get to make art with the guidence of the teachers of the Art Center.
CASA, UMA ESCOLA DE ARTE PARA CRIANÇAS CARENTES O projeto CASA (Centro de Assistência social e Artística) - uma escola de arte para crianças carentes que vivem na favela Cidade de Deus (City of God), no Rio de Janeiro - foi fundado em agosto de 2005 por Helena e Edson Cardoso. O objetivo da escola é ajudar as crianças a cumprir seus sonhos de um futuro melhor através do poder da arte, e dar-lhes uma passatempo construtivo, assim como um norte às suas vidas. Atualmente há 15 crianças na escola, na faixa etária de 4 a 15 anos. Esperamos que o nosso trabalho ajude a evitar que essas crianças acabem nas ruas. A organização finlandesa Arte Vida Arte ry financia o projeto CASA. Durante os últimos seis anos, os artistas finlandeses da nossa organização têm visitado a Cidade de Deus para trabalhar com as crianças. Você também pode fazer parte deste valioso projeto e ajudar a dar a estas crianças um futuro melhor. Uma oficina de arte com as crianças e os artistas será realizada no dia 22/06/2014, no Centro Municipal de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian. Nesta oficina, que também faz parte da programação do projeto CASA, as crianças e os jovens da Cidade de Deus experimentarão a criação artística, com a orientação dos professores do local de acolhimento.
