Himalayan Children’s Fund News Dear Friends, The success of our fundraising match has enabled SMD to quickly begin addressing several of the needs at the school. We thank you again for celebrating our 30 years and providing such tremendous support. If you missed Thrangu Rinpoche’s video to our sponsors, donors, and volunteers please visit the home page of our website. Thrangu Rinpoche is in Namo Buddha these days and SMD school is on winter break. Shedra monks are participating in the Annual Karma Goncho (debates) before the 37th annual Monlam in Bodhgaya which begins January 28th. Shedra nuns will be attending the Arya Kshema Dharma Gathering and debates February 12th through March 4th. Thank you for your kind support. Please enjoy and share the news. ~ Debra Ann

SMD SOLAR POWER The girls shower is completed and already well used. (Thank you HCF donors!) There is a schedule of usage organized by time, day and age group. There are 8 shower taps that can be used simultaneously and the room captains help the younger girls. Cold water showers have been the norm no matter the time of year but that has recently changed. Two rows of solar panels and tanks have just been installed on the roof of the dorm opposite of the shower building. Now warm water is funneled to the bathhouse insuring better health, especially in the winter! Installation was overseen by Tsering Palden a monk manager at SMD.
