Richmond Hill Primary Academy Healthy Week It’s safe to say that Richmond Hill had another jam-packed Healthy Week! We kicked off the week with the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Sports Days, for which we were lucky enough to have had some sun! We would like to thank everyone who came out to support our competitors and really gave everyone a much needed boost during their events. We would also like to thank Sainsbury’s Sprotbrough Local, who provided water and juice for our Reception Sports Day! Later in the week, pupils took part in lots of fun lessons and activities, including KS2 Taekwondo sessions and KS1 Balance Bike sessions! Tour de Yorkshire Relay A selection of pupils were given the opportunity to take part in a Tour de Yorkshire cycle relay this morning, alongside pupils from all over Yorkshire! Pupils set off on their part of the relay just before 10.00am and returned for 12.00pm, having cycled a phenomenal 9 miles, which is the longest section of the route on our leg of the relay! Our pupils cycled from school to The Boat Inn, where they were passed a baton by pupils from Denaby. They then cycled from The Boat Inn to Castle Hills Primary to pass on the baton to the next group before cycling back to Richmond Hill. The Doncaster leg of the relay visited Hooten Pagnell, Barnburgh, Conisbrough, Sprotbrough, Bentley, Toll Bar and Snaith, where the baton was handed off to East Riding Council. Pupils cycled alongside two members of staff and a qualified ride leader, along with the leader of the relay. The event was organised and lead by the charity Sustrans, who encourage children and adults to take up cycling. Well done to the pupils who took part, who earned a well-deserved rest! Hill House Partnership After a fantastic Art & Textiles Workshop in March, our pupils were lucky enough to attend another fantastic experience at Hill House School. Year 5 pupils attended the Hill House Primary Science Fair this June, where they took part in Chemistry, Biology and Physics lessons, with full access to the school’s labs and equipment! The accompanying teachers as “fantastic” and that the children “thoroughly enjoyed the hands on approach” they experienced during the day. Thank you again to Hill House for such a fabulous day!
