Dear Friends As I write (in March) our world has entered another period of enormous uncertainty, and the pressure on the poor, refugees, hostages of war, disease and famine increases. Our hearts bleed as the calls on our empathy and help seem to mount up unendingly. And we cannot but be fearful of the impact of all this on the systems and institutions that have supported our lives in the past.

By the time you read this, the situation in Eastern Europe may have changed dramatically, but it has been quite staggering how the democratic nations have begun to stand up against the totalitarian dictatorship in Russia. We all know there is only one way to deal with bullies, which is to stand up to them. Meanwhile we pray for the victims – not forgetting that the Russian people themselves, largely ignorant of the actions of their master, are seeing their own economy and way of life destroyed. Easter, which we celebrate on 17th April, is a time when we remember that the life of love and prayer that Jesus exemplified, can overcome the terrors of death and evil. In that we rejoice – come what may. Assuring you all of our prayers, Geoffrey
