Dear Editor,

Dear Editor,

We would like to thank and commend Andy Brown & Sean from AJB Fencing, for their swift response to an urgent call-out as a result of recent storm damage.

The prompt action was greatly appreciated. For their professionalism, skill in their field and quality of work, together with courtesy and consideration, you would have to go a long way to find their equal.

Thank you both, A very satisfied customer & Arlesey News Magazine reader. I’m researching for a book about a young, highly-talented pianist called Win Marshall whose studies were interrupted by WWII. She was called up in 1941 and served as an auxiliary nurse at Three Counties Emergency Hospital in Arlesey.

In October 1941 she gave a concert for the troops and in November 1941 helped produce a play in aid of the Russian Red Cross.

I’d be very grateful if any of your readers could suggest where I might find any information about these events. I can be emailed on jrushpc@gmail.com or DM me on Facebook. Jonathan Rush

Update from Arlesey Brownies

The Brownies celebrated Thinking Day on 22nd February. On that day, we learn about Brownies all over the world and try out the activities they do and games they play.

We learned about Brownies in China, India, Mexico and Italy and of course tasted food from those countries. We also celebrated Chinese New Year with our own shadow puppet plays and made mini pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. We’ve also been learning new life skills, using hammers and nails to make some lovely string pictures. Brownies offers girls (aged 7 -10) exciting opportunities to try new things, take on challenges, discover their potential, make brilliant friends and above all have fun!

If you’d like to join us (or put your name on the waiting list if you’re not quite 7) then register at www.girlguiding.org.uk/joinus, or email us at arlesey.brownies@hotmail.co.uk.
