Poslední dva měsíce v roce jsou obvykle příležitostí k hodnocení. Co se nám za uplynulý rok povedlo?

Co jsme stačili udělat a co jsme naopak nestihli?

Jak jste jistě zaznamenali, premiéry, které v letošním roce v Arše vznikly, se setkaly s velmi pozitivním ohlasem. Sólo pro Lu a Simulante Bande si za krátkou dobu získaly oddané publikum, a také jsou zvány na mezinárodní festivaly. Pokud jste je nestihli vidět, nic není ztraceno. Poslední příležitost máte během festivalu Akcent, který se stal vlajkovou lodí nového směřování našeho divadla. Umění, kterému se Akcent věnuje, přesahuje hranice obvyklých žánrů. Akcent klade důraz na sociální funkci a společenskou odpovědnost umění. Jsme přesvědčeni, že v době dnešní krize hodnot může právě umění nacházet nová východiska a účinně bojovat proti nihilizmu a rezignaci. Akcent se snaží představit v mezinárodní konfrontaci nových forem scénických umění, které ti, kteří mají rádi škatulky, nazývají dokumentárním, komunitním, integrovaným a bůhvíjakým divadlem. Nám na škatulkách nezáleží. Důležité je ukázat, že umění není jen akademická záležitost, zábava pro střední třídu či snobárna pro vyvolené. Zahajovací představení Akcentu, které je zároveň poslední premiérou v produkci Archy v tomto roce, to dokazuje. Představení Dáme, dáme, dáme gól – Fotbalová opera vzniká ve spolupráci s mladými vlámskými umělci a my pevně věříme, že zaujme nejen divadelní diváky, ale i fotbalové fanoušky, kteří do divadla obvykle nechodí.

Také koncerty v listopadu a v prosinci určitě zaujmou široké spektrum publika napříč generacemi. Od DJ Shadowa, který vystoupí v rámci série festivalu Stimul, přes legendu britského blues Johna Mayalla, obnovené česko-slovenské setkání hudebníků, kteří vytvořili kultovní album sedmdesátých let Zelená pošta, večer věnovaný odkazu Ivana Jirouse zvaného Magor, až po tradiční vánoční koncert Michala Prokopa.

Milovníci tance si jistě nenechají ujít francouzskou taneční skupinu l'Abrupt Albana Richarda v rámci festivalu KoresponDance a představení Wind-up souboru 420People, jehož hostujícím choreografem je tentokrát Itzik Galili. Příznivci slovenského divadla si určitě užijí druhý prosincový víkend, v němž spolu s bratislavským Divadelním ústavem pořádáme přehlídku toho nejlepšího, co vzniklo na slovenské alternativní scéně. Říká se, že poslední dva měsíce ubíhají nejrychleji v roce, což v divadle platí obzvlášť, protože sezona končí už před Vánoci. Stihnout se toho dá ovšem stále dost.

The last two months of the year are usually a good opportunity to reflect on what we’ve achieved.

Where have we succeeded? What did we manage to do and what still needs to be done?

As you have surely noticed, the premieres that were created at Archa this year have met with a very positive response. Solo for Lu and Simulante Bande have in a short time acquired a devoted following and have been invited to international festivals. If you haven’t had a chance to see them yet, fear not: you will have one more opportunity during the Akcent Festival, which has become the flagship of our theatre's new thematic voyage. The art that Akcent focuses on crosses the borders of the usual genres. Akcent emphasizes the social function and public responsibility of art. We are convinced that in today’s crisis of values, art can be a new solution in the struggle against nihilism and resignation. Akcent tries to present in international confrontation new forms of performance art, which those who like to pigeonhole might call documentary theatre, community theatre, integrated theatre or God knows what other kind of theatre. We don't like to pigeonhole. The crucial thing is to show that art is not just an academic pursuit or entertainment for the middle classes or a snobbish pastime of the wealthy. The opening performance of Akcent, which is also the last premiere produced by Archa this year, proves it. The performance of Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal! A Football Opera was created in cooperation with young Flemish artists and we firmly believe that it will interest not only theatre audiences but also football fans who don’t usually go to the theatre.

In addition the concerts in November and December will surely interest a wide spectrum of audiences across generations. From DJ Shadow, who will perform as part of the Stimul Festival, to British blues legend John Mayall, to the renewed Czech-Slovak meeting of musicians who in the 1970s created the cult album Zelená pošta (Green Mail), to an evening devoted to Ivan“Magor” Jirous, to Michal Prokop's traditional Christmas concert. Dance lovers won’t want to miss French dance company l'Abrupt led by Alban Richard, which will perform during the KoresponDance Festival, as well as Wind-up by 420 People, whose guest choreographer this time will be Itzik Galili. Fans of Slovak theatre will definitely enjoy the second weekend of December, when together with the Bratislava Theatre Institute we will present a review of the best productions on the Slovak alternative scene.

It is said that the last two months of the year go by the fastest, which is especially true for theatre, because the season already ends before Christmas. But you can still get a lot done.

Rozhovor s tvůrci inscenace Dáme, dáme, dáme gól – Fotbalová opera Gillesem De Schryverem a Oliverem Roelsem ze souboru het KIP

Oliver Roels: V Ghentu je totiž například jeden velký fotbalový tým, v Praze máte čtyři až pět týmů hrajících nejvyšší soutěže. To úplně jinak formuluje otázku humanity, přátelství, fotbalové soudržnosti, když se jedná o řevnivost na úrovni jednoho města. Zde se ukázal jako nejslavnější, ale i s nejhorší pověstí, co se týče agresivity fanoušků, klub Sparta. Ale je tady i Slavia, Bohemians… Pro nás je zajímavé i to nekompromisní dělení na fanoušky Sparty a Slavie. Jedna dívka nám například vyprávěla, že se jí na začátku jeden kluk na něco chtěl zeptat. Místo aby zjišťoval, zda s ním chce chodit, se jí nekompromisně zeptal, zda fandí Spartě nebo Slavii. Ale naším hlavním cílem je nazkoušet operu o fanoušcích, nikoliv o nenávisti dvou týmů.

Gilles De Schryver: Snažíme se také zjistit, čím se zabývá a jak vypadá současné české divadlo. Naše inscenace je velmi

komunitní a musí v jistém smyslu vycházet ze specifik českého divadla, ale i fotbalového prostředí.

Jakým způsobem reflektujete českou divadelní kulturu?

Oliver Roels: Potřebujeme vědět, co se zde v umění děje. Sami pocházíme z velmi bohatého kulturního prostředí ve Vlámsku, kde máme pestrou síť divadel a skupin. Překvapuje nás, nakolik zde stále přetrvávají repertoárová divadla. Ta totiž byla v Belgii odsunuta do pozadí přibližně před dvaceti lety. Samozřejmě, že se nám zde zdají zajímavější ta divadla, která se snaží prolomit tyto repertoárové vzorce.

Nicméně, zajímají vás politické konotace, které jsou s kluby spojeny, jako například že neonacisti chodí hlavně na Spartu, fanoušci Bohemians jsou proti rasizmu atp.?

Oliver Roels: Možná se jim spíš nemůžeme vyhnout, než že by byly tím, co nás skutečně zajímá. Ovšem i politické okolnosti a společenská situace se do naší inscenace tak či onak otisknou. Ale snažíme se je převést na humornou rovinu.

Gilles De Schryver: Nás spíše zajímá to, co lidi spojuje, jejich nadšení a ne nenávist velkých klubů.

Hovořili jste o tom, že s každou novou verzí začínáte nanovo, ale také, že máte již postavenou strukturu večera. Jak se tyto dva aspekty spojují?

Gilles De Schryver: Strukturu máme stejnou jako u fotbalového zápasu. Máme dvě poloviny po pětačtyřiceti minutách s přestávkou. Vždy pracujeme s dialogy, anekdotami, dávání prostoru zajímavým účastníkům. Nic z toho však samozřejmě neznáme dopředu.

Oliver Roels: Během práce na první, tedy belgické verzi nás překvapilo, že úplně každý vám může něco říct o fotbalu, a to i přestože se o něj vůbec nezajímá. To nemusejí být fakta, jen třeba osobní vzpomínka, že šel během mistrovství ve fotbalu někam na procházku s manželkou ve Vídni. Fotbal je velkým pojítkem.

Jedná se v případě Dáme, dáme, dáme gól o dokumentární divadlo?

Gilles De Schryver: Do jisté míry ano. Ve Vlámsku skutečně už málokdo pracuje tradičně. Už mnoho let není pro většinu divadelníků novinkou pracovat metodami improvizace, výzkumu, dokumentárního divadla.

Bylo pro někoho provokující, že spojujete fotbal s divadlem?

Gilles De Schryver: Spíš se jednalo o předsudky než o pobouření. Ale například ve Finsku se lidé bavili dlouho o rozdílu mezi vysokou a nízkou kulturou. Vůbec jsme nechápali, o čem se baví. Možná jim přináší lepší pocit ze sebe samých jít na operu než na sport, ale tím to možná končí. V jistém smyslu totiž nevnímám takový rozdíl mezi operou od Verdiho a basketbalovým zápasem, protože oboje je vášnivě děláno s nadějí, že to někoho bude zajímat. Samozřejmě, že tušíme, nakolik se jedná o odlišné oblasti, ale jejich spojování nás právě baví. To ostatně naznačujeme v samotném názvu. Pracujeme i se samotnými účastníky – chceme padesát osob, které mají vztah k fotbalu a hlavně si chtějí vyzkoušet, jaké to je stát na scéně.

Oliver Roels: Přesně tak. Na scéně máme jak profesionální herce, tak i lidi různého stáří, kteří nikdy s divadlem neměli nic společného. Podle mne je důležité, že naše inscenace ukáže, že divadlo může být zábavné a zá-

roveň nemusí být triviální někomu, kdo chodí na fotbal a myslí si, že divadlo trvá vždy tři hodiny, je nudné a hrají tam Shakespeara.

Rozhodně ale neděláme ani komunitní a ani sociální divadlo.

Co však má vaše inscenace společného s operou?

Oliver Roels: Zpívání. Na scéně je padesát fanoušků, kteří tvoří chór.

Gilles De Schryver: Ale nepoužíváme živou hudbu. Jen nahranou. Možná je název spíš jistým nalákáním než skutečnou definicí toho, že děláme operu. Tím, že nás zajímá lidská existence, se také dostáváme k opeře, která se také zaměřuje na vypjaté lidské osudy.

Co je pro vás v samotném fotbalu divadelně zajímavé?

Gilles De Schryver: Další tvůrce z našeho týmu, Yahya, je velkým fanouškem fotbalu a jednou se dostal do pásma mezi hřiště a diváky. Byl úplně fascinován, že ve stejném momentu je takové množství lidí upřímně naštváno, šťastno, zoufalé či pláče atp.

Když to popisoval, bylo jasné, že tento efekt vlastně způsobuje úžasná divadelní show pracující s energií a city každého z nás.

Oliver Roels: Dřív jsem fotbal hrál profesionálně. Co mě každý týden překvapilo, bylo, jak se všichni lidé, a to bez ohledu na zaměstnání, vzdělání, pohlaví nebo míru tolerance, náhle stávají divokými zvířaty při fandění. Z jinak mírných lidí se náhle stávají křiklouni, z matek se stávají divoženky. Řev a emoce mě vždy fascinovaly.

V Praze připravujete inscenaci Dáme, dáme, dáme, dáme gól. Jak pracujete s českými účastníky a jak zkoumáte zdejší fotbalové prostředí?

Gilles De Schryver: Přestože jsme naši fotbalovou operu uvedli už v Belgii a Finsku, chceme s každou další verzí začít od nuly.

Takže v momentě, kdy máme nové účastníky pohromadě, začínáme improvizovat a hodně pracovat se stavbou jednotlivých příběhů. Sice je formát naší show daný, ale jeho náplň je vždy nová a vychází ze samotných aktérů a specifik jejich prostředí.

Musíme vycházet z české kultury i české fotbalové kultury a lidí, kteří se představení účastní, což nám samozřejmě zabere spoustu času. Během našeho průzkumu zdejšího terénu jsme zjistili, že Česká republika je zapálená pro fotbal, a to daleko více než celá Belgie.

Working on the production of Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal, Goal! in Prague, how do you approach Czech participants, in what ways do you explore the Czech football scene?

Gilles De Schryver: Although we have already staged our football opera in Belgium and Finland, with each new version we want to start from scratch. So once we get our new participants together, we start to improvise, we work a lot on the development of the individual stories. The format of our show may be set, but its content is always new, based as it is in the participants themselves and the specificity of their background. We have to draw on Czech culture in general as well as Czech football culture and the people who participate in the show – and that naturally takes a lot of time. During our field research we found that the Czech Republic is really passionate about football, much more so than Belgium.

Oliver Roels: In Ghent, for example, we have just one major football team – in Prague you have four or five/three playing premier league.

This poses the question of humanity, friendship and football solidarity in a radically different way, when the rivalry takes place within a single city. The most famous club here, but also the one most notorious for the aggression of its fans, is Sparta. But you also have Slavia and Bohemians… What we also find fascinating is this uncompromising divide between Sparta and Slavia fans. For example, one girl told us about meeting this bloke… instead of asking whether she would go out with him, he demanded whether she was a Sparta or a Slavia fan. Still, our main ambition is to make an opera about the fans, not about the mutual rivalry and hatred of the two teams.

Still, are you interested in the political connotations of the Czech football clubs – e.g. the neo-Nazis rooting mainly for Sparta, or the Bohemians' fans being anti-racist, etc.?

Oliver Roels: We just cannot avoid these connotations, rather than being particularly interested in them. The political and social situation is naturally going to be reflected in our production, though we rather try to find a humorous take on it.

Gilles De Schryver: We are more interested in what connects people, their passion and enthusiasm, rather than the rivalry of major clubs.

You were saying that with each new version of your show you are starting from scratch, but you also have a set structure of the evening.

How do you make these two aspects work together?

Gilles De Schryver: Our structure is the same as the football match.

We have two 45-minute halves with a break in the middle. We always work with dialogue and anecdotes, giving room to participants who have something interesting to say. But we naturally don't know in advance what they will say or do.

Oliver Roels: Working on the first – Belgian – version we were struck by the fact that absolutely anyone has something to say about football, even though they are not interested in it at all. It doesn't have to be facts, it can be a personal memory of someone walking around Vienna with their wife during a championship. Football is a great connection for people.

Would you define Dáme, dáme, dáme gól as documentary drama?

Gilles De Schryver: It is that, to some degree. You see in Flanders few people work in a traditional way at this point, for many years now methods such as improvisation, research or documentary theater have been nothing new.

What is your reflection of Czech theatre culture?

Oliver Roels: We need to be aware of what is happening in the local arts scene. Coming from Flanders, we have a very advanced cultural scene with a rich network of theatres and theatrical groups. So it is surprising for us to see the extent to which repertory theatres are still very strong here; since that is something that had pretty much taken a back seat in Belgium about twenty years ago. Naturally the theatres we find more exciting here are the ones that are trying to break with the repertory stereotypes.

Did anyone find your combination of football and theatre a provocation?

Gilles De Schryver: It was more about prejudice than outrage. In Finland, though, there was a big debate about the difference between highbrow and lowbrow culture. We had no idea what they were talking about. I guess people feel better about themselves when they go to see opera rather than a football match, but then maybe that is where it ends with them. For in some sense I don' t see so much difference between a Verdi opera and a match; both are made with

Oliver Roels: Exactly. We have on stage both professional actors and people of various ages who never had any theatre experience. I think it is important that our production shows that theater can be both entertaining and yet not trivial to people who go to football matches and think of theatre as something boring which always takes three hours and is all about Shakespeare and nothing else. But we certainly don't do community or social theatre.

So what then does your production have to do with opera?

Oliver Roels: The singing. There are fifty fans onstage who form the choir.

Gilles De Schryver: But we do not use live music, just recorded. Perhaps the title is rather a temptation than a real definition of the way we do opera. Being interested in human existence takes us close to opera which is also concerned with highly dramatic human destinies.

What is the theatrical angle in football for you?

Gilles De Schryver: This other guy on our team, Yahya, is a huge football fan, and at one point he was in this strip between taken by the fact that at a single moment a huge multitude of people playground and the stalls. He was totally fascinated that so many people can be happy and or cry at the same time. He realized it is about the theatre show, working with the synergy of each of us.

Oliver Roels: I used to like to play football. What surprised me each week was how all people, regardless of employment, education‚ gender, or tolerance, would become beasts when it came to rooting for their team. Otherwise nice and gentle folk would become total beasts… mothers becoming wild women…shouting and emotion always fascinated.

Gilles de Schryver: We are also trying to figure out what are the main issues and forms of contemporary Czech theater. Our production is very much community-based, so in some sense it has to derive from the specific features of Czech theater, as well as the football scene.

We work with non-actors, denizens of the scene – we want to have fifty people who are involved in the football scene and who, above all, want to expose themselves to the experience of being on stage.

Je retrospektivou jeho bojů o divadelní prostory, ale i úvahou o postavení umělce ve společnosti. Pocta českému undergroundu II – Věnováno Magorovi / 17.00 Program druhého ročníku festivalu je celý věnován památce Ivana Martina „Magora“ Jirouse, který patřil k zásadním tvářím světového undergroundu a nezávislé kultury. Vystoupí: Josef Klíč, DG 307, Psí vojáci – v původní sestavě z roku 1979 a The Plastic People Of The Universe.

Součástí programu bude výstava z prací sochaře a hudebníka Libora Krejcara a projekce filmů. Pořádá vydavatelství Guerilla Records.

Nová dráma – Přehlídka nezávislého slovenského divadla Beseda o novém slovenském divadle / 17.00 Panelová diskuze otevře několik zásadních otázek týkajících se fungování nezávislého divadla (nejen) na Slovensku: Jak být nezávislý?

Divadlo SkRAT – Napichovači a lízači / 20.00 Divadlo SkRAT je autorským divadlem, které již několik let pracuje s vyhraněnou poetikou vycházející z autenticity, zachycení banality a reality z nadhledu, s ironií a intelektuálním humorem. Napichovači a lízači tvoří mozaiku příběhů současných jedinců s posunutými hodnotami, s povrchním, ale dostačujícím, společensky očekávatelným přístupem k životu. Práce napichovačů a lízačů neosvobozuje, ale vrhá do klece, v níž sami sebe uvězňují. Přesto nemá inscenace mentorský charakter, ale je velmi vtipná a nasycená absurditou. Režie: Dušan Vicen. 10–11 TANEC VerTeDance – Simulante Bande / 10. 12. 20.00, 11. 12. 18.00 V inscenaci Simulante Bande zkoumají VerTeDance neotřelé možnosti pohybového vyjádření zdravého a fyzicky handicapovaného člověka, relativnost pojmu handicap i křehký kosmos mezilidských vztahů. Své často neviditelné limity přetavily netanečnice Alena Jančíková a Zuzana Pitterová do neuvěřitelných výkonů, ve kterých jim „asistují“ profesionální tanečníci Helena Arenbergerová a Petr Opavský. Autorskou hudbu k představení vytvořila skupina DVA, která s VerTeDance spolupracovala již na inscenaci Emigrantes.

11–12 DIVADLO Sólo pro Lu / 20.00 Autentické životní osudy čínské herečky, zpěvačky a tanečnice Jing Lu v divadelní podobě. Představení nás provází jejím životem od dětství v Číně až do současnosti v Praze. Intimní příběh plný tragických událostí, nepřízně osudu a zároveň cesty za úspěchem je konfrontován s globálními otázkami dnešního světa a ambivalentním vztahem západní společnosti k Číně, který se pohybuje od obdivu k východním kulturám až po strach z ekonomické hegemonie. Protože je Jing Lu výjimečná hudebnice a zpěvačka, hraje hudba v představení významnou roli. Jing Lu proměňuje konkrétní zvuky do hudebních motivů a kompozic. Program AKCENT 2012 15 Zahájení festivalu – 3. ročník festivalu Akcent zahájí vernisáž fotografií s názvem Já, člověk / 18.00 / foyer Unikátní cyklus fotografií vytvořili klienti pobytových zařízení pro čekatele na azyl v ČR. Autoři snímků dostali fotoaparát a úkol pomocí obrazového vyjádření hledat odpověď na otázku: Kdo jsme? Pravidla zadání neumožňovala z legálních důvodů záběry tváří autorů, ani jejich kolegů. Výsledkem jsou fotografické obrazy, které zasahují diváka hloubkou příběhu, někdy drsným, jindy poetickým pohledem na vztah jedince a společnosti. / Koncepce výstavy: Kiril Christov.

Campo / Het KIP – Dáme, dáme, dáme gól! – Fotbalová opera / 19.30 / Velký sál Takové divadlo jste ještě nikdy neviděli! Poprvé v historii se na scéně setkají skuteční fotbalisté a skuteční fotbaloví fanoušci s herci a divadelními tvůrci. Představení, které zahájí festival AKCENT, vznikalo na míru českému prostředí přímo v Divadle Archa. Hlediště Archy se promění v tribunu-jeviště, diváci zaujmou místo na pomyslném hřišti-jevišti. Zatímco diváci nespouštějí oči z jeviště-tribuny, kde vzniká celá řada komických situací, ale i situací plných dramatického napětí, oči herců na tribuně se upínají k pomyslnému utkání, které celé představení razantně frázuje. Fotbalová opera je představení plné hudby, zpěvu a strhujících choreografií, které vycházejí z reálné zkušenosti zúčastněných milovníků fotbalu. / Představení je poctou všem fanouškům, zároveň však není lhostejné k hrubým projevům, které fotbal bohužel také doprovází. 16 Prezentace občanského sdružení Ramus spojená s premiérou filmu Honza překlenuje / 15.00 / Zásálí Občanské sdružení Ramus již 3. rokem pořádá pravidelné volnočasové akce pro mladé lidi s postižením i bez něj. Na hudebně-dramatických dílnách, výletech a letních táborech v Novohradských horách vytvářejí situace, které učí respektu, kdy nezáleží na tom, kdo je v čem úspěšný a jaký je jeho zdravotní stav. Prezentaci Ramusu bude předcházet premiéra filmu „Honza překlenuje“. Honza se pravidelně účastní akcí Ramusu: je to oddaný fanoušek a znalec českého popu, světových filmů či Formule 1. Film, jehož výrobu Honza sám ovlivňoval i svým formálním zpracováním, sleduje neúnavné tempo, se kterým Honza stříhá realitu s její televizní nápodobou. Divadlo z Pasáže Banská Bystrica – Nekonečná krajina Peťa Hudca – scénický koncert / 17.00 / Malý sál Peťo Hudec je herec Divadla z Pasáže. Je také mistr převleků, někdy vystupuje jako výpravčí železniční stanice, někdy ho potkáte jako kovboje, jindy jako policistu. Peťo Hudec je také muzikant. V domě chráněného bydlení v Banské Bystrici sedává dlouhé hodiny u klavíru, hudba jako by mu přímo protékala prsty. Peťo je muzikant s downovým syndromem, prostřednictvím hudební improvizace nás nechá nahlédnout do světa svých představ a snů. Gurmánský happening proběhne ve spolupráci festivalu AKCENT se sdružením In Baze Berkat a s obyvateli uprchlického tábora v Kostelci nad Orlicí. Přijďte ochutnat – nebuďte zatáhlí!

PanoDrama – Slovo za slovo / 19.30 / Velký sál Slovo za slovo je představení dokumentárního divadla vypovídájící o rasově motivovaných útocích na Romy v Maďarsku v letech 2008 a 2009. Vznikalo na základě více než šedesáti hodin rozhovorů s oběťmi útoků, jejich rodinami, sousedy a policejními úředníky. Tvůrci zpracovávali soudní protokoly, kladli otázky náhodným kolemjdoucím, zaznamenávali texty z blogu. Všechny texty zazní ze scény tak, jak byly zaznamenány, bez stylizace a dodatečných úprav. „Slovo za slovo je prvním experimentem, který se snaží vytvořit pohled na kořeny nenávisti k Romům pomocí divadelních prostředků. Lidé začali mluvit o věcech, o kterých se v divadle nemluví a dosud nemluvilo…“ (Andrea Tompa, szinhaz.net, the online version of the Theatre Magazine, Színház).

17 Neratov – divadlo má (s)mysl: – Cesta kolem světa za 14 dní / 12.00 / Divadlo Disk – DAMU Divadelní představení, které vzniklo s klienty chráněného bydlení v Neratově pod vedením studentů uměleckých škol. Společně se jim podařilo vytvořit prostor, „ve kterém se fantazii meze nekladou“.

Co přineslo 14 dní intenzivní práce postavené na improvizacích a divadelních i hudebních cvičeních? Výsledek se dozvíte při pražské premiéře. Divadlo Disk se promění v teleportační vzducholoď. Přijďte!

Nebuďte zatáhlí! Občanské sdružení Jiné jeviště se zaměřuje na divadelní tvorbu ve specifické skupině a hledá nové směry pro využití divadla. Projekt Divadlo má (s)mysl již druhým rokem spolupracuje s občanským sdružením Neratov o. s . a Chráněným bydlením Domov.

Příběh a jeho užití v akci – Divadelní dílna Marii Schejbal (Teatr Grodzki) – 1. část/ 13.00–16.00 / Studio Archa, Zlatnická ulice Dílna polské divadelní režisérky Marii Schejbal je určena všem, koho zajímají divadelní principy zaměřené na arteterapii. Dílna bude mít tři části. První část „Dříve než vstoupíme na scénu“ bude zaměřena na hry a skupinová cvičení, druhá část „Umění vizuálního vyprávění“ bude zahrnovat improvizace s objekty. Třetí část se bude zabývat „Cestou k představení“. Maria Schejbal od roku 2001 řídí Kulturní a vzdělávací centrum Teatr Grodzki v Bielsko-Biała. Více než patnáct let vede dílny zaměřené na vzdělávání v oblasti divadla. V nich se mimo jiné soustředí na práci s drogově závislými.

DOKTOR – In the Mekka of EVIL! / Divadlo pro jednoho diváka / 14.00–20.00 / Karavan, ulice Na Florenci „Jsem DOKTOR, pocházím z Příbrami. Nyní žiji na cestě. Co dělám?“ Astrální léčení skrze obrazovku, putovní syntetická audio-vizuální performance s živou videoinstalací pro jednoho diváka. Délka jednoho představení 10–15 min. Koncept: Matyáš Dlab, Petr Šprincl, Jan Kovář.

Divadlo z Pasáže Banská Bystrica a Viera Dubačová / 15.00 / Zásálí Prezentace dlouhodobého sociálně-divadelního projektu spojená s projekcí filmu „Cizinec“ (Viera Dubačová). Viera Dubačová je divadelní režisérka, aktivistka bojující za práva Romů, poslankyně, ředitelka festivalu Arteterapia a zakladatelka výjimečného Divadla z Pasáže. Jeho herci jsou lidé s nejrůznějšími druhy postižení. Jsou půvabní a talentovaní. Po dobu svého angažmá v Divadle z Pasáže spolupracovali s mnoha významnými režiséry, choreografy, hudebníky.

Film Cizinec dokumentuje práci herců pod vedením choreografa Jara Viňarského a Viery Dubačové na představení, které společně připravovali s divadlem Jump Start v americkém San Antoniu. Viera Dubačová s sebou přiveze dva vzácné hosty z Banské Štiavnice, romské aktivisty Jaroslava Koledu a Máriu Koledovou. Plány současného Divadla z Pasáže představí jeho současná ředitelka Eva Ogurčáková.

Kde je hranice, kterou někdy nazýváme „konvencí“? Co se smí? Co je zakázáno? O čem se nemluví? V představení SIMULANTE BANDE zkoumá dvojice choreografek Veronika Kotlíková a Tereza Ondrová neotřelé možnosti pohybového vyjádření zdravého a fyzicky handicapovaného člověka. Jana Svobodová, Jing Lu – Sólo pro Lu / 21.00 / Malý sál Úspěšné představení Jany Svobodové a Jing Lu se po hostování na evropských festivalech vrací domů do Archy. Fascinující výkon Jing Lu vás zavede na čínské tržiště 80. let, do milionového města Wu Hanu, o kterém jste možná nikdy neslyšeli. Přestože je Jing Lu na scéně sama, setkáte se s jejími příbuznými, se spolužáky nebo učitelkou tělocviku.

S pomocí kytarového looperu a malé dřevěné skříňky, ve které „si přivezla pár věcí z Číny“, se vás zeptá: „Víte, kolik je Číňanů? Můžeme mít v Číně dvě děti?“ Lu vypráví příběh plný tragických událostí, nepřízně osudu i cesty za úspěchem. Ten je konfrontován s globálními otázkami dnešního světa a ambivalentním vztahem Západu k Číně, který se pohybuje od obdivu k východním kulturám až po strach z ekonomické hegemonie. DOKTOR – In the Mekka of EVIL! – Divadlo pro jednoho diváka / 14.00–20.00 / Karavan, ulice Na Florenci Setkání s Wen Hui – prezentace a projekce filmů nezávislého uměleckého centra The Living Dance Studio / Studio živého tance v Pekingu z produkce Studia / 15.00 / Zásálí Tanečnice a choreografka Wen Hui založila v roce 1994 Studio živého tance společně s dokumentaristou Wu Wenguangem. Ve svém centru na okraji Pekingu, které funguje nezávisle na podpoře čínské vlády, vytvářejí oba umělci projekty zaměřené na aktuální problémy dnešních Číňanů a na traumata moderní čínské historie. Ve své práci kombinují autentické příběhy, světelný design, dokumentární film, tanec a hudbu.

Od svého založení vytvořilo Studio živého tance více než šestnáct projektů, které měly ohlas v Evropě i v USA. Nejnovější představení z cyklu „Memory“ vzniklo na základě rozhovorů mladých studentů umění s obyvateli čínských vesnic, kteří by mohli být jejich prarodiči. Wen Hui: „Chceme se soustředit na skutečný denní život, na to, co se právě odehrává kolem nás, na to, co právě cítíme. Proto náš soubor nese název Living dance – Živý tanec. Chceme klást otázky, ne hledat odpovědi.“

Kulatý stůl – diskuze na téma Divadlo se sociálním přesahem / 17.00 / MALý sál Divadelní tvůrci, pedagogové a producenti si položí otázku o významu divadla a jeho přímém vlivu na neuralgické body současné moderní společnosti. Obsahem jednotlivých příspěvků budou konkrétní příklady divadelní praxe z míst, kde se divadlo mnohdy stává jediným komunikačním prostředkem. Jak získat důvěru lidí, kteří primárně nemají o divadlo zájem? Jak získat jejich příběhy? Jak vypadá divadelní jazyk, s jehož pomocí lze takové příběhy vyprávět?

Recepty s příběhem – gurmánský happening / 18.00 / FOYER Campo / Ampe Brothers – Pokus o velké smíření dávných sporů Jakea a Petea / 19.30 / Velký sál Představení je založeno na pouhém faktu, že Jake a Pete jsou skuteční bratři. Oba se narodili v Burundi a oba si pamatují hodně dobrého i zlého z doby svého dětství. Pieter se stal tanečníkem a choreografem, jeho bratr Jakob je zpěvákem skupiny The Germans. Představení pracuje jak s jemnými nuancemi, tak s výraznými extrémy. Pieter jako tanečník objevuje svůj hlas, zpěvák Jakob rozkrývá možnosti svého těla.

Závěrečný večírek s Kyklos Galaktikos / 21.00 / BAR Kyklos Galaktikos se vynořili teprve na konci loňského roku na hip hopové scéně, a to se svou první nahrávkou Osa dobra. A okamžitě začali být slyšet. Tematika jejich textů je neotřelá, zpracování vtipné, surově intimní, naivně pohádkové, zároveň však provokativní a vražedné. Hudba pohlcuje smysly svou různorodostí, dokáže uhranout temným beatem, ale přitom se neutápí ve schematičnosti. Kyklos jdou k jádru, na dřeň, sofistikovaně a hrubě, a přitom s nonšalantní elegancí.

Koncert uvede a festival zakončí Šárka Hojaková a Josef Fojt, známý jako „fanoušek, filmař a podivín“.

Napichovači a lízači is a mosaic of stories about contemporary individuals with changing values. Despite not having a mentor character, the production is very funny and replete with absurdity.

Solo for Lu / 20:00 The real life story of Chinese actress, singer and dancer Jing Lu in a theatrical form. The performance will take us on a journey from her childhood in China to her current life in Prague. This intimate story, full of tragedy, adversity and striving for success, is confronted with the global questions of our world and the ambivalent relationship of western society to China, which ranges from admiration of eastern culture to fear of China’s economic hegemony. As Jing Lu is an excellent musician and singer, music plays a major role in the performance. Jing Lu transforms specific sounds into musical motifs and compositions. Director: Jana Svobodová. A brutal story of the emotional and moral decay of a normal Slovak family in the production of Psota arouses horror but also hope and a spontaneous need for compassion. Psota is based on field research, real stories and documents from the recent past. The Pôtoň Theatre works independently and creates works on the cutting edge. Program AKCENT 2012 15 Opening of the festival – vernissage of photography exhibit I Human / 18:00 / foyer A unique cycle of photographs created by residents of housing shelters for people waiting for asylum in the Czech Republic. The authors of the photographs received a camera and the task of finding a pictorial way of answering the question: Who are we? For legal reasons the rules of the assignment did not permit shots of the faces of the authors or their colleagues. Campo / Het KIP – Goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goal! – A Football Opera / 19:30 / Large auditorium You've never seen this kind of theatre! For the first time in history real football players and real football fans will meet on stage with actors and theatre creators. The performance will kick off the AKCENT Festival and was tailor made for the Czech environment right in the Archa Theatre. The stage of the Archa Theatre is transformed into bleachersstage, while the audience assume their places in an imaginary playing field-stage. A Football Opera is a presentation full of music, song and thrilling choreography, which is based on the real experiences of the participating football lovers. The performance of Goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goal! – A Football Opera is a tribute to all football fans, while at the same time being mindful of the coarse displays that sometimes unfortunately accompany the game. 16 A presentation by the Ramus civic association and premiere of the film Honza Overcomes / 15:00 / Archa Theatre The Ramus civic association has for three years now been organizing regular leisure time events for young people with and without disabilities. At music-theatre workshops, excursions and in particular at summer camps in the Nové Hrady mountains they create situations which teach mutual respect, where things like who succeeds where and what their health condition is don't matter. The presentation by Ramus will precede the premiere of the film Honza Overcomes. Honza regularly participates in Ramus events; he is a devoted fan of and expert on Czech pop music, world cinema and Formula 1. The film, which Honza has influenced at every stage of its creation, follows the tireless tempo with which Honza edits reality and its television imitation. Which version of reality will overcome? Theatre from the Passage Banská Bystrica – The Endless Countryside of Peter Hudec – A Stage Concert / 17:00 / Small auditorium Peter Hudec is an actor from the Theatre from the Passage in Banská Bystrica. He is also a master of disguise, sometimes appearing as a storyteller at a railways station, sometimes as a cowboy, and at other times as a policeman. Peter Hudec is also a musician. At a housing shelter in Banská Bystrica he plays long hours on the piano, the music seeming to flow right out of his fingers. Peter is a musician with down syndrome: by means of musical improvisation he allows us to look into the world of his imagination and dreams. Word for Word is a documentary theatre performance that examines racially motivated attacks on Roma in Hungary during the years 2008–2009. The performance was created on the basis of more than 60 hours of interviews with victims of attacks, their families, neighbours and police officers. The artists read court reports, interrogated passersby, and recorded texts from blogs. All of the tests are presented exactly as they were recorded, without any stylization or alteration. The acclaimed performance by Jana Svobodová and Jing Lu returns home to the Archa Theatre after a series of presentations at European festivals. Jing Lu’s fascinating performance will take you on a journey to the Chinese marketplace of the 1980s and the metropolis of Wu Han, which you have probably never heard of. Although Jing Lu is alone on stage, you will meet her relatives, schoolmates and physical education instructor. With the help of a guitar looper and small wooden drawers containing “a few things from China” she asks the audience: Do you know the population of China? Can Chinese people have two children?”

Maria Schejbal has headed the Teatr Grodzki Cultural and Education Centre in Bielso- Białe since 2001. For more than 15 years she has led workshops focussing on education in the area of theatre, where, among other things, she concentrates on work with drug addicts. Maria Schejbal is the author of several publications intended for teachers and education specialists.

Theatre from the Passage and Viera Dubačová / 15:00 / Archa THEATRE A presentation of a long-term social-theatre project connected with a screening of the film The Stranger (Viera Dubačová). Viera Dubačová is a theatre director and activist fighting for Roma rights, a deputy, director of the Arterapia Festival and founder of the Theatre from the Passage. The Theatre from the Passage is an extraordinary place. Its actors are people with various kinds of disabilities. They are charming and talented. After performing in the Theatre from the Passage they have worked together with many famous directors, choreographers and musicians. The film The Stranger documents their work under the guidance of choreographers Jara Viňarsky and Viera Dubačová in a performance that they created together with the Jump Start Theater in San Antonio, Texas. Viera Dubačová will bring two special guests with her from Banská Štiavnica: Roma activists Jaroslav Koleda and Mária Koledová. In the centre on the outskirts of Beijing, which works independently with the support of the Chinese government, both artists create projects focussing on current problems in today's China and the traumas of modern Chinese history. In their work they combine real stories, light design, documentary film, dance and music.

A roundtable on the topic of theatre with social outreach / 17:00 / Small auditorium Theatre creators, teachers and producers open an inquiry about the meaning of theatre and its direct influence on the neuralgic points of modern society. Each contribution will contain specific examples of theatre work in places where theatre is often the only means of communication. How do you gain the trust of people who mostly aren't interested in theatre? How do you learn their stories? What is the theatre language used to tell these stories?

Recipes with a Story – A Gourmet Happening / 18:00 / bar, foyer Campo / Ampe Brothers – Jake & Pete’s Reconciliation Attempt for the Disputes from the Past / 19:30 / Large auditorium In the performance the brothers Jakob and Pieter Ampe start from nothing but the fact that they are brothers, both born in Burundi, both with a lot of good and bad memories from their youth. During the creation process of Jake & Pete’s Reconciliation Attempt for the Disputes from the Past the brothers examined to what extent they can raise each other’s game. It became a study that involves extremes as well as subtleties and a poetic performance that plays with the expectations of the spectator on the verge of catastrophe. Get involved! Kyklos Galaktikos emerged on the hip hop scene at the end of last year with their first recording Osa dobra and immediately gained an audience. The topics of their lyrics are fresh, funny, intimate and naive while also being provocative and venomous. The variety of the music absorbs the senses, casting a spell with its dark beats, while avoiding the pitfalls of schematization. Kyklos penetrate to the core, to the very marrow, in a raw and sophisticated way, but also with nonchalant elegance. The concert is presented by Šárka Hojaková and Josef Fojt, a well-known “fan, filmmaker and eccentric”. He will also close the festival.

Jaký je skutečný cíl té hry?

What is the real point of this game?

Ideální způsob hraní fotbalu neexistuje, každý se k němu nějak snaží přiblížit, ale o výsledku rozhoduje jen a jen počet branek, ať padly jakkoli.

Výsledky jsou oprávněné, protože jich bylo dosaženo podle pravidel, zatímco hra sama se měří nedosažitelným ideálem. Vsítit více branek než soupeř, vyhrát, samozřejmě. Avšak to je cíl, jenž je plně akceptován pouze na straně vítězného mužstva, jeho hráčů, příznivců a jeho činovníků, neboli, jak se dnes říká, realizačního týmu.

Heroizmus obran ostře kontrastuje s jednotvárnou útočnou hrou, která znovu a znovu vázne v propracované pavučině defenzivy, poražení končí vyčerpáni v křečích, zatímco vítězové vlastně nic nepředvedli: k tomu, aby vyhráli, jim stačil vcelku průměrný výkon, nikoli nápaditá hra hýřící originálními nápady. Víc jsme ani nepotřebovali, mohou se hájit mistři rozmrzelí kritikou. A pravdu mají všichni; sláva nakonec patří vítězům, poraženým čest.

Že však lze tento cíl chápat i zcela jinak, to naznačil památný výrok Sira Alexe Fergusona „Naše mužstvo bylo lepší“, který pronesl v roce 2009 poté, co jeho Manchester United prohrál s FC Liverpool poměrem 1:4. Nemluvilo z něj jenom zklamání z prohry, kterou musel nějak vysvětlit.

Ideální způsob hraní fotbalu neexistuje.

Toto přesunutí cíle z výsledku na hru samu si je totiž možné vyložit i jako projev vzdoru proti světu, v němž se fotbal hraje a v němž všemu vládne výkon, produktivita a měřitelný úspěch. Legendární trenér chtěl možná říci, že žijeme ve světě, v němž nejde o krásu, a proto lze vítězství dosáhnout za přispění štěstí i odpudivým způsobem. Proti tomu by ovšem bylo možné namítnout, že takový odsudek vítězů je nepřijatelný: neporušili žádné pravidlo, jejich soupeř si s nimi nedokázal poradit, a proto si po zásluze připisují další body do tabulky.

Každý víkend, odhlédneme-li od zimní a letní přestávky a od anglické Premier League, se na každém mistrovském turnaji rozehrává a předvádí tento věčný, protože neřešitelný spor. Neboť při něm nejde jen o svár krásy s účelností, nýbrž také o svár spravedlnosti s právem, v němž je pravda rovnoměrně rozložena na obě strany. Spravedlivý výsledek je nedosažitelný. Každá prohra je nezasloužená, protože i ti, kdo se jen úporně brání, by bývali mohli skórovat, kdyby si v určitém okamžiku lépe přihráli, anebo přesněji vystřelili.

Spor je nekonečný: krása fotbalu jistě spočívá ve hře samé, nikoli v ošklivých výsledcích. Avšak její dramatičnost, ba uhrančivost tkví právě v tom, že se hraje o výsledek. Mezi obojím je zásadní rozdíl, a přesto jedno patří k druhému: výsledky jsou oprávněné, protože jich bylo dosaženo podle uznávaných pravidel, zatímco hra sama se měří nedosažitelným ideálem. Právě proto není žádný výsledek zcela spravedlivý a tato nespravedlnost naznačuje nezrušitelnou nedokonalost práva – norem, měřitelných produktů, výkonu.

Kdyby ale nebylo nedokonalosti práva, neusilovali bychom o spravedlnost. Což nakonec musí připustit každý fanda: ideální způsob hraní fotbalu neexistuje, každý se k němu nějak snaží přiblížit, ale o výsledku rozhoduje jen a jen počet branek, ať už padly jakkoli, či suma peněz investovaná do hráčů. Je třeba se smířit s realitou, třebaže fotbal je jako každá hra cosi fiktivního. Ale je to fikce, jež umožňuje lépe rozumět světu, v němž žijeme, životu, který vedeme. Nakonec je to tedy velmi jednoduché: ve fotbale nejde o život, jde v něm o mnohem víc. A realita není vše, co máme.

There is no ideal way to play football. Everybody is trying to get closer to it, but the result is decided only by the number of goals, regardless of how they were scored. The score is legitimate, because it was achieved according to the rules, while the game itself strives towards an impossible ideal. Scoring more goals than your opponent and winning are of course the goals that are accepted only by the winning team and its players, fans and officials, or as they are today called, the "implementation team".

The heroism of defence contrasts sharply with the tedium of the attacking game, which again and again gets stuck in the elaborate spider web of the defence, the losers finishing exhausted in cramps, while the winners hardly do anything at all: all they needed was a consistently average performance, not a creative game abounding in original ideas. That's all you need to defend a championship and quiet the critics. And everyone is right: glory goes to the victor, honour to the loser.

That this goal can also be understood entirely differently was implied by Sir Alex Ferguson's memorable statement "Our team was better", which he uttered in 2009 after his Manchester United team lost 1:4 to FC Liverpool. This was more than just an expression of the agony of defeat, which he had to in some way explain.

There is no ideal way to play football.

This transfer of purpose from the score to the game itself can also perhaps be interpreted as a manifestation of defiance against the world in which football is played and in which performance, productivity and measurable success are the norms.

Perhaps the legendary coach wanted to say that we live in a world that ignores beauty, in which victory can be achieved with the help of luck and in an ugly manner. Of course it can be objected that judging the victors in this way is inadmissible: they did not break any rules, their opponent was unable to handle them, and therefore they deserved to record more points on the scoreboard.

Every weekend, if we ignore the winter and summer break and the English Premier League, this eternal, insoluble battle plays out at every championship tournament. It is not merely a contest between beauty and purpose, but a contest between justice and the rules, in which truth is equally distributed on both sides. A just result is unattainable; each loss is undeserved, because even the team that only stubbornly defends could have scored had they made a better play or shot more accurately.

Conflict is eternal: the beauty of football certainly lies in the game itself, not in the ugly results, but its drama, indeed fascination, lies in the fact that it is played for results. Between both is the basic difference, even though one belongs to the other: The score is legitimate, because it was achieved according to the rules, while the game itself strives towards an impossible ideal. That is why no score is completely just and this unjustness is implied by the unalterable imperfection of rules – norms, measurable production, performance.

But if the rules were perfect, we would not need to strive for justice. In the end each fan must admit: There is no ideal way to play football. Everybody is trying to get closer to it, but the result is decided only by the number of goals, regardless of how they were scored and the money invested in players. One must face up to the reality that football is, like all games, a sort of fiction. But it is a fiction that permits better understanding of the world around us, the lives that we lead. In the end it is very simple: football isn't just about life, it's about a lot more. And reality isn't everything that we have.

Divadelný ústav Bratislava už osem rokov organizuje festival inscenácii súčasnej slovenskej a svetovej drámy Nová dráma / New Drama. Je to miesto, kde sa vedľa seba objavujú a konfrontujú mnohé témy. Aktuálne a historické, realistické a mystické, domáce a zahraničné. V posledných rokoch sme však zistili intenzívny prienik domácich tém a osobitného autorského prístupu slovenských tvorcov. Nastal zvrat v „novom divadle“? Toto obdobie sa skutočne nesie v znamení hľadania. Starý model drámy sa vyčerpal a nový stále neprinášal uspokojivé výsledky. Neboli s nimi spokojní tvorcovia, diváci sa s nedôverou rozhodovali pre slovenskú novú drámu a sebavedomie dramatikov sa prepadlo do suterénu.

Stále sme však tušili, že témy sú na dosah ruky.

Bolo ich treba „prostonárodne odkliať“.

Projekt Nová dráma / SLOVENSKO určite vytvorí priestor aj na fundovanú diskusiu. Medzinárodnú konfrontáciu. Zistíme, či sme sa za tých dvadsať rokov samostatnosti od seba vzdialili, alebo naopak – znovu k sebe primkli. Je to chvíľa, počas ktorej sa divadelný čas zastaví, zhustí sa jeho vnímanie a reflexia.

A stalo sa! Jedna za druhou prichádzali inscená­ cie, ktoré otvárali Pandorine skrinky súčasnosti.

Festivalom Nová dráma / New Drama sa snažíme upozorňovať na hodnoty, ktoré sú v nás a okolo nás a ktoré si v záplave iných podnetov často nevšimneme. Otvárame diskusiu nielen o novom divadle a novej dráme, ale predovšetkým o té­ mach, ktoré sa s nimi spájajú.

Divadlo S.T.O.K.A., SkRAT a Pôtoň Bátovce ponú­ kajú esenciu slovenského divadla. Sú nezávislí, svojskí, provokujú a obnažujú našu realitu. Veríme, že zaujmú. Stretnutie so slovenským divadlom doplní aj diskusia na tému Nové priestory – nové divadlo – nový dych a výstava Časy STOKY – legendárneho divadla, ktoré stálo na zrode nezávislého divadla na Slovensku.

Expandujeme! Po celom Slovensku. V podobe formátu Enter… prenášame to najpodnetnejšie z novej drámy do mnohých miest na Slovensku.

Od tohto roku sme vďaka koprodukcií s divadlom Archa aj v Prahe. Vážime si to a očakávame zau­ jímavú a podnetnú reflexiu nášho divadla, ale aj priateľskú výmenu názorov. Nové divadlo a nová dráma sú pre nás rovnakou vášňou.

Tešíme sa na stretnutie.

Výberom inscenácií, ktoré uvidíte počas dvoch dní 8. a 9. decembra, chceme poukázať na krehkú a stále neurčitejšiu hranicu, ktorá existuje medzi divadlom a každodennosťou, chceme ponúk­ nuť stretnutie s umelcami, ktorí vedia, že nová dráma môže prehovoriť do duše, ukázať, že nová slovenská dráma a divadlo sú vitálnou umeleckou praktikou ale aj prostriedkom na pochopenie spoločenských, politických a kultúrnych zmien.

For more than eight years, the Theatre Institute of Bratislava has been organizing a festival of contemporary Slovak and international drama, entitled Nová dráma / New Drama. The festival presents a space for the confrontation of a variety of themes – contemporary and historical, realistic and mystical, local and international. Recent years, however, have witnessed a more intensive penetration of local themes and original approaches on the part of Slovak directors. Has something of a watershed moment occurred in “New Theater“? Indeed, this period has been defined by a sense of searching.

The old paradigm of drama has become outdated, while new paradigms failed to deliver satisfactory results. The authors themselves were unhappy, audiences approached new Slovak drama with misgivings, and the confidence of playwrights sank to new lows. Yet all this time we sensed that viable themes lay just within our reach. It only remained to break the spell that governed the mood of the general public.

And now this has happened. One after another, new productions have appeared which have opened the Pandora’s boxes of our contemporary reality. The festival Nová dráma / New Drama strives to highlight values present both within and outside of us, which often pass unnoticed in the torrent of other stimuli.

We are thus opening a debate not only about new theater and drama, but also on the themes these address.

And we are expanding! All across Slovakia. Our format Enter… relays the most inspiring offerings of new drama to a variety of places across Slovakia. Thanks to co-productions undertaken with Archa Theater in Prague, we will also present plays in the Czech Republic as of this year. We value this collaboration highly and expect it to provide both a stimulating reflection of Slovak theater as well as a dialogue of

opinions and a friendly exchange of viewpoints, as we are both equally passionate about new theater and new drama.

The Project New Drama / SLOVAKIA (Projekt Nová dráma / SLOVENSKO) is certain to create a platform for further discussion – an international confrontation. We are about to find out whether the last twenty years of independence have caused us to drift apart – or on the contrary, brought us together again. This is the type of moment when theatrical time freezes, condensing its perception and reflection.

Our selection of productions which will be presented over two days, December 8 and 9, wishes to showcase the fragile and increasingly blurred line between theater and everyday existence. We wish to offer audiences an opportunity to meet artists who know that new Slovak drama has the ability to speak directly to the soul, to show that new Slovak drama and theater represent vigorous artistic practice as well as a means of understanding social, political and cultural changes.

S.T.O.K.A. Theatre, SkRAT and Pôtoň Theatre Bátovce offer the very essence of Slovak theatre. All of them are independent, original and provocative, laying bare the essence of our daily reality. We believe that their productions will intrigue audiences. The program of Slovak theater will be accompanied by a discussion entitled New Spaces – New Theatre – New Breath, and an exhibition on the STOKA Times – the legendary theatre which laid the foundations for independent theatre in Slovakia.

Praotec legenda trubadúr a B4 na festivalu Stimul Forefather Legend Troubadour and B4 at Stimul Festival Radio Wave Stimul festival se letos na podzim opět hlásí důrazně o slovo a přiváží do Prahy absolutní špičku současné alternativní hudby ze zahraničí. Navíc festival propojí ve třech listopadových dnech pražskou klubovou scénu. Dramaturgicky unikátní projekt Radia Wave a festivalu Stimul tentokrát proběhne ve třech dnech – 6., 7. a 14. listopadu 2012 a také ve třech různých prostorech. Dějištěm jednotlivých koncertů budou postupně Lucerna Music Bar, Divadlo Archa a MeetFactory.

Divadlo Archa bude hostit pravděpodobně nejundergroundovější projekty festivalu, neboť 7. listopadu se představí praotec instrumentálního hip hopu, špičkový turntablista a samplový kouzelník DJ Shadow.

Kalifornský stvořitel nových zvukových světů Josh Davis si postavil pomník už v polovině devadesátých let svým debutem – náladovým eposem Endtroducing. Tento milník abstraktního hip hopu inspiroval následné generace beatmakerů a mezi nejlepší alba devadesátých let ho shodně zařadila hudební periodika Pitchfork, Rolling Stone či Q. Mimořádného ohlasu se DJ Shadow dočkal rovněž za svoji produkci na debutu projektu UNKLE, nazvaném Psyence Fiction, a chválu sklidilo i následné studiové album The Private Press (2002). Na šest let starém albu The Outsider objevuje rapovou scénu stylu hyphy a zatím poslední nahrávka – loňské The Less You Know, The Better je volnomyšlenkářskou procházkou po společných kořenech rocku, hip hopu či folku.

Alternativnější část publika Radio Wave Stimul festivalu potěší v tento večer účast kolektivu Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO vedeného ikonou japonského undergroundu – kytaristou Makotou Kawabatou. V české premiéře společně vystoupí japonská legenda Damo Suzuki, který svým zpěvem dotvořil nejlepší alba slavných krautrockerů Can, a držitelé ceny Vinyla za loňský rok – improvizační čtveřice B4.

Početný kolektiv Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO je srocen kolem „nejpracovitějšího hudebníka japonského undergroundu“ – kytaristy Makota Kawabaty. Tenhle démon šesti strun v různých sestavách Acid Mothers Temple křísí zlaté časy japonského psychedelického, progresivního a space rocku a vybaven válečnými barvami máničkovské estetiky, mění dnes již řádně vousatý bigbítový žánr v sonické kamikadze virtuozity, přehánění a bušida.

Impulzivní japonský trubadúr Damo Suzuki svým zpěvem dotvořil nejlepší alba Can, aby je v polovině sedmdesátých let opustil a stal se navždy hudebním kočovníkem. Nomádem, který tam, kam zavítá, vytváří neopakovatelné improvizované situace s místními hudebníky. Kdo jiný z českých kapel by tuto legendu při její české premiéře mohl doprovodit lépe než loňští držitelé ceny Vinyla – improvizační čtveřice B4, která se v průběhu let projamovala a proexperimentovala k originální stylové fúzi, jejíž nedílnou součástí je i řádná dávka ohlasů písní krautrockových?

This fall, the Radio Wave Stimul Festival will once again make an emphatic claim on your attention, bringing to Prague the absolute cutting edge of contemporary international alternative music. In addition, over three days in November, the festival will inerconnect the Prague club scene. Unique in terms of its dramaturgy, the joint project by Radio Wave and Stimul Festival will také place over three days – November 6, 7 and 14, 2012 – in three different venues. The concerts will be hosted by Lucerna Music Bar, Archa Theatre and Meetfactory respectively.

Archa Theatre will host what are probably the festival’s most underground projects – introducing as it does the forefather/pioneer of instrumental hip hop, top-ranking turn-table artist and sample wizard DJ Shadow on November 7th. The California-born creator/architect of new sonic worlds Josh Davis had wrought himself a monument already in the 1990s, in his debut album, a moody epic titled Endtroducing.

A milestone of abstract hip hop, Endtroducing inspired generations of beatmakers to come, and was listed in unison as one of the finest albums of the 1990s by such perodicals as Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and Q. His production of the UNKLE debut project titled Psyence Fiction likewise won DJ Shadow much praise/ acclaim, as did the subsequent studio album, The Private Press (2002). The 2006 album The Outsider discovers the hyphy-style rap scene; his last offering thus far – The Less You Know, The Better brought out last year is a free-thinking ramble/tour through the common roots of rock, hip hop, or folk.

Folk music?

The more alternative section of Radio Wave Stimul Festival will be pleased on that night by the presence of the Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO collective, fronted/led by the Japanese underground icon, guitarist Makota Kawabata. As a Czech premiere, the festival will host the joint performance of Japanese legend, Damo Suzuki, whose vocals added lustre/accompanied the best albums of the famous kraut-rock band Can, and the last year’s Vinyla laureates – the improvisation quartet B4.

The numerous collective Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO formed around the "most studious/prolific musician of the Japanese underground" – guitarist Makota Kawabata. A demon of the six strings, in various set-ups of the Acid Mothers, Kawabata brings around/revives the golden age of Japanese psychedelic, progressive and space rock; equipped with the war-paint of hippie/mánička aesthetic, he transforms the rather hoary/timeworn genre of bigbeat into a sonic kamikaze of sheer brilliance, overkill and bushido.

The vocals of impulsive Japanese troubadour Damo Suzuki added lustre to the best albyms of Can – whom he split with in the mid-1970s in order to become for ever more a musical nomad. Wherever he pays a visit, he makes a unique improvisational connection with the local musicians. What other Czech band could better accompany this legend during its premiere Czech performance than last year’s laureates of the Vinyla award, the improvisation quartet B4? Over the years, B4 have jammed and experimented their way to a most original fusion of styles, with a massive dose of krautrock echoes forming an essential ingredient.

An interview with the hosts of the EKG Literary Cabaret, Jaroslav Rudiš and Igor Malijevský

ŽÁDNÉ LELKOVÁNÍ VE VRÁTNICÍCH NO LOITERING AT RECEPTION Podle jakého klíče si vybíráte hosty pro večery EKG? Rudiš: My hlavně nejdříve jdeme do sauny, kde si trochu zameditujeme. A pak také s Igorem vždycky něco uvaříme, třeba salcburský guláš. A při krájení masa a cibule nás napadají témata a k tématům také hosté, spisovatelé, výtvarníci, hudebníci či kapely. EKG je sice živý pořad, ale všechno je vlastně docela připravené. Žádná velká anarchie. Ta se pak děje až na scéně. Nikdy přesně nevíme, jak pořad dopadne, co kdo přinese a jak se to bude líbit divákům.

Malijevský: Základ je, jak popsal kolega, to jídlo, třeba boršč, a pocit, že nás samotné to bude bavit. Ale nějaká intuitivní dramaturgie za tím je, i když se k ní dvakrát neupínáme. Snažíme se příležitostně dělat mezinárodní večery, zvát začínající a mladé autory, protože tenhle prostor je zajímavý a z principu neprobádaný, a taky zvát své vysněné hosty, klasiky, které jsme četli ve dvaceti. A je krásné, že oni do toho jdou s námi, a přitom riskují: nejdou na besedu, ale na EKG. Bývají to silná setkání.

Máte dojem, že ještě existují literární oblasti či zásadní autoři, jichž se v rámci zdejší scény EKG z různých důvodů nedotklo?

Rudiš: Doufám, že ano! Baví nás objevovat.

Malijevský: Pokud tu jsou celé literární oblasti, které dávají smysl, pak bychom je rádi poznali a představili. U jednotlivých autorů je to složitější, ne každý kvalitní autor má rád divadelní prostor a přímý kontakt s širším publikem, to je také třeba respektovat.

Letos v únoru oslavilo EKG pátý rok své existence. Kam se bude vyvíjet dál a jaké jsou přísliby budoucích setkání?

Rudiš: Samotné nás tohle číslo překvapilo.

Pro mě je až svým způsobem magické.

Nevím proč, ale jako chlapec jsem nerad přestával číst knížky na páté stránce, pětky jsem se bál nejen jako známky. Takže jsem rád, že jsme ji v Arše přežili a jdeme dál.

EKG nás hlavně ale baví. S Igorem jsme si řekli, že až nás to bavit přestane, tak s tím prostě sekneme a budeme se věnovat jen a pouze saunování, vaření gulášů a tichému domácímu psaní.

Malijevský: Kam se to bude vyvíjet, netušíme. Převratné změny asi nechystáme, nevidíme pro ně důvod. Důležité je, aby se to opravdu vyvíjelo, abychom společně

s publikem něco zažívali, aby tu pořád byl pocit svobodného prostoru, který si často sám řekne, jak má být vyplněn. Aby nás to s Járou bavilo, i když na některé věci máme občas odlišný náhled. Třeba já mám pětky rád.

V jakém stavu je současná česká literatura a co jsou její nedostatky?

Rudiš: Myslím, že je v cajku. Psaní je tady samozřejmě pro spoustu autorů takový koníček po práci, ale tak to možná bylo i dřív, psaním se prostě živí těžce. Ale je to, jak to má být. A každý rok se objeví pár skvělých nových autorů, jako třeba Marek Šindelka.

Malijevský: Nadaných autorů je tu řada, vychází pořád dost zajímavých knížek, je co objevovat. V tomto smyslu na tom nejsme špatně – i když: pořád samé přísliby, jen málokdy něco zásadního. Představte si to takhle: nadaný člověk napíše knihu, dostane nějaké ceny, zatleskají mu na EKG, sbalí krásnou dívku nebo chlapce a založí rodinu.

A co pak? Bude z něj kreativec? Nebo začne psát scénáře do televize? Nebo si zažádá ve třiceti kopiích u českého literárního fondu o podporu a dostane 10 000 korun českých na rok práce? Na opravdu dobrou knihu, která posune hranice, je třeba moře času a za tu dobu se taky něco sní. Dřív to taky nebývalo snadné, ale konkrétně tahle doba lidi nutí do pohybu, žádné lelkování ve vrátnicích! Jenže k napsání kvalitního textu je třeba nehýbat se, zastavit se. Jedinou institucí, která je dnes schopná autorům poskytnout skutečně účinnou podporu, je invalidní důchod na hlavu. Jednou bude psychiatrie přelomu milénia vyznamenána za zásluhy o zachování české literatury. To myslím vážně.

Nesvazuje vás v přípravě kabaretu vaše vlastní literární tvorba? Necítíte se být sami příliš ponořeni do literatury?

Rudiš: Naopak! Na každé EKG se snažím napsat úplně novou povídku. Někdy jen pro ten pořad. Někdy ji třeba ještě dál rozepíšu.

Malijevský: Naopak, EKG někdy svazuje moji tvorbu, ale já ji pak doma vždycky zase rozvážu.

According to what criteria do you choose guests for your EKG Nights?

Rudiš: First of all we go to the sauna, where we meditate for a while. Also, we always cook something together, like Salzburg goulash for example. Chopping meat and onions gives us ideas for subjects, and these in turn cause you to think of guests – writers, artists, musicians or bands. EKG may be a live show, but in fact a lot of preparation that goes into it. Not some massive outburst of anarchy. That only happens onstage. We never know exactly where the show is going to take us, what the participants will come up with, and whether the audience will relate to it.

Malijevský: It starts with what my partner just said, food – a borsch, let’s say, and the feeling that we are going to enjoy it. But there is some intuitive dramaturgy behind all of this, although we don’t get too hung up on it. Occasionally we try to organize international nights, or invite young and emerging authors, since this is unexplored territory by definition.

We also try to sketch out our dream guests, the living classics we read at age 20. The great thing is that they are up for it, they dive right in with us, which is quite a risk – this is not a Q and A, this is EKG. These as a rule turn out to be quite exciting interactions.

Do you feel that there are still areas of literature or seminal authors within the local scene that for some reason EKG has not yet explored?

Rudiš: I should hope so! We love revelations.

Malijevský: If there are whole fields of literature that are meaningful, we would like to know about them and present them. With individual authors it is more complicated, since not every good writer feels comfortable with the theatrical space and direct contact with the audience, and one has to respect that.

In February this year, EKG celebrated its fifth anniversary of existence. Where are you going to evolve next, and what new revelations and encounters do you promise?

Rudiš: We were actually quite surprised ourselves at this number. It is almost magical to me. I cannot say why, but as a kid I hated to stop reading a book at page five. I was afraid of the number five not only as a school mark, when it represented failure. So I am happy we survived that at Archa and keep going on. But above all, we love doing EKG. We agreed with Igor that the very moment we stop enjoying this, we will just quit and carry on with the sauna, the goulash and laying low, writing at home.

Malijevský: We have no idea how this is going to evolve, where this will take us. We are not in it for any dramatic changes, we see no reason for that. What is important is that it actually goes somewhere, that we share this experience with the audience, that there is a sense of freedom, a free space which often shows you how it should be filled. It is important that Jára and I enjoy this, although our views may often differ. I for my part love the number five.

What is the condition of Czech literature today and what are its shortcomings?

Rudiš: I think it is doing alright. For most writers in our country, writing is a hobby that they do after their regular job, but I guess it was like this even before, as it is simply hard to make a living from writing. But that is as it should be. And every year there emerge a couple of amazing new authors, like Marek Šindelka for example.

Malijevský: There are a whole number of gifted writers, a lot of interesting books come out all the time, there are things to discover. In this sense we are not doing so badly – although most of these things are just showing promise, seldom anything really seminal. Imagine it in these terms: a talented person writes a book, wins prizes, wins applause at EKG, lands a pretty girl or boy, and starts a family. What comes next? Do they become a creative copywriter? Do they write scripts for TV? Or do they file 30 copies of the grant application form to the Czech Literary Foundation, receiving 10 000 CZK for annual support? A truly great book that pushes the limits takes an ocean of time, and during that time, you have to eat. It was never easy, but this era forces people to keep moving, no loitering at the reception desk! But in order to write anything worthwhile, you need to stop and stay put.

The only institution which is able to grant writers truly effective practical support is a disability pension granted on psychological grounds. One day at the turn of the millennium psychiatry will be given due credit for preserving Czech literature. I’m serious.

Doesn’t your own writing limit you in preparing the Cabaret?

Don’t you feel yourselves to be too immersed in literature?

Rudiš: On the contrary! For each EKG I try to write a whole new story. Sometimes it’s just for that show. Other times, I end up developing it further.

Malijevský: On the contrary, it is EKG that sometimes ties up my own writing, but back home I always untie it again.
