T

he world has been adap ng to new situa ons very fast and the stream of educa on has not been different from it. Aparna World School has opened up new avenues for the children to learn.The school has undoubtedly provided an amiable atmosphere to sprout the budding talents of children.Not only from academic point of view but also the performance of children in co-scholas c ac vi es has created a new vista.The students have showed astounding enthusiasm in Yoga,Karate ,Drawing,Dance etc .The parents had joined the school with li le apprehension and lots of expecta ons but they have not been let down on any front. Without learning being affected the en re previous academic year was packed with events, ac vi es, compe ons.

The school programmes have brought the parents closer to school and helped to foster a healthy bond between the stakeholders. The faculty members have tried to address the concern of parents and incorporated sugges ons provided through regular feedback. Workshops and orienta on programmes have gone into capacity building of the teachers so as to improve the quality of output. And the first academic session culminated with the “Learning Kiva” ,where the concept of “Child First” was coined and received a thunderous applause. The interac on with the resource person not only ignited the mind of parents but also provided valuable inputs to them for be er paren ng. Parents shared moments of intense query and the joy of loca ng easy solu ons. Definitely they had collected memories to cherish. They promised to themselves that they will help their children to enjoy their childhood to the fullest. With the comple on of the first academic year, the progress of children was commendable.And now we are at the threshhold of the next academic session,and are expec ng to go beyond the standard set in the previous year. There is always a space above the top.

1. Parent Teacher Meet 5 March 2016 At the end of the academic year (2015-16), Parent Teacher meet of Primary classes along with result th declara on was held in Aparna World School on 5 March, 2016 between 8:30am – 11:00 am where the academic progress of students was reviewed. The report cards were distributed by the respec ve class teachers along with the Non-Quan ta ve Assessment which demonstrated the areas of strength and improvement. In the PTM, parents met with the teachers and discussed the performance of their ward in Summa ve Assessment – II. They also interacted with teachers to seek their sugges ons regarding the enhancement of academic output in the next class. The progress of the students clearly demonstrated that the collabora ve approach between parents and teachers can enhance the output in the teaching -learning process as well as develop a broad sense of understanding in developing future school programmes. Mrs. Jyo Lath and Mrs. Shalini Shrivastava were overwhelmed with their children's development .Not only curricular and extracurricular ac vi es had been taken care of, but also the food habits of the children had improved for the be er.

2. Reopening of School

Every new venture contains an amalgama on of happiness, excitement and nervousness. The same was experienced by the children as well as the parents on the first day of the school. 8th March was the day scheduled for reopening of Pre Primary batch in the City Campus. The children accompanied by the parents entered the school premises with gleaming faces and happy hearts. They were delighted by the warm welcome extended by the teachers and the sight of vibrant display materials. Colourful balloons filled them with cheer. The parents played with their children for an hour and the children departed in a jolly mood with th balloons as a gi for a ending school. On 14 March, 2016 the Main Campus reopened with wide arms to embrace all exis ng as well as the new students and take them to the kingdom of joyful learning. The walls of Pre primary and primary buildings have been painted in different areas to give greater heights to the imagina on of children. The children could not help staring at them with wonder and admira on. The first day of the school had been memorable for all, students as well as teachers.

3. Orientation Programme for Secondary Students

9 - 10 March 2016

Reaffirming our commitment to the concept of providing quality educa on, Aparna World School organized th th an orienta on program on 9 and 10 of March for the exis ng as well as new students. In fact, invita on was extended to all the students from different schools. Parents also joined the inaugural session along with the students to understand the culture of school. This program was set up to acquaint the parents and students with the school system and the curriculum workload likely to be faced by the students in the new class. The program began with the Welcome address by Principal Sir where he explained the pa ern for conduc ng examina on, the extracurricular ac vi es, the support required from parents etc. This was followed by a tour of the campus. Breakfast was served to all the students and visitors. A group discussion was ini ated by the teachers on current social issues to map leadership quali es. At the end an ac vity session on team work was conducted to add excitement and energize them.Second day began with karate classes. A debate on current issues gave an opportunity to the students to express their views regarding the given topic. Mughdha Sultania of Class VII was very happy to see the new campus and the cheerful deportment of the teacher. Pra ksha Pandey of Class VIII believed that orienta on program helped in bridging the gap between her classmates and herself. It had created a comfort zone for her. Aman Jaiswal enjoyed the Orienta on Program and loved the ice breaking game and group discussion and proudly stated about being a winner in the team game.

4. Orientation Programme for Class I 16 February 2016 As o en said the ini al step is always the most difficult and if it is in a strange and unknown direc on it becomes even more difficult and fearsome. The ny tots of upper kindergarten are about to move to a new phase of learning from Pre Primary to Primary. In order to make them familiar with the primary sec on an acclima za on course was undertaken for a week from 16th - 20th February, 2016. On 16th the children of kindergarten were taken to primary sec on where they were introduced to the class teacher of class I and their future class room. They were taken around the primary building to various sec ons and shown u li es and facili es available for their use. Campus touring was followed by general introduc on of different subjects' .For the rest of the week the children were informed about the rules and regula ons of their class and different subjects they were supposed to study. The children were brimming with excitement and happiness and ready to accept the new phase of learning. Mrs Poonam Jha appreciated the programme and expressed the view that implemen ng such innova ve ideas makes Aparna School different from rest of the schools of Jharsuguda.

5. Colour Splash 22 th February 2016 Holi is the most vibrant and colourful of all Indian fes vals and is celebrated with great fun and fervor. The Pre primary sec on of Aparna World School celebrated Holi with the children on 22nd March, 2016 in both the campuses to make the children aware of importance of colour in our life. The children were asked to come in old clothes for the celebra on. A er the recess the children were taken to the video sec on and the story of Hiranya kashyap and Prahlad was shown to them. The teachers also enacted the story for be er understanding of the children. The teachers described the do`s and don'ts while celebra ng Holi. The Holi cards prepared for the occasion was distributed to all the children. It also contained a small packet of gulal. The children played gulal with their friends and teachers. The day ended with a colourful happy note.

6. Storytelling and Story Writing Competition 31 March 2016 Stories are the most powerful tool to put ideas into the world. To give wings to the imagina on of children, Aparna World School organized storytelling and story wri ng compe on. On 31st of March, Storytelling compe on was conducted for classes from I to IV. The enthusiasm shown by the students to narrate was commendable. The story wri ng compe on for students from Classes V to VIII was also conducted on the same day. The compe on witnessed a par cipa on of over 50 students. The students got an opportunity to pen down their stories.

7. Karate Competition 2 February 2016 nd

In the honour of Sri Biju Pa naik , East India Karate compe on was organized on 2 and 3 April 2016 in nd Tibrewal Dharamsala. Aditya Sakunia ,gave a tremendous performance and bagged the 2 prize out of 150 par cipants in the Kata category.
