Monsoon & Plantation

Aparnaa World School, being the best boarding school in

western Odisha, has a tradition of planting tender plants at the start of monsoon. This tradition of ours helps us to keep our environment clean & healthy. This year Aparnaa World School planted: Bottle Palm: Bottle Palm is also known as Hyophorbe lagenicaulis, is an attractive palm tree. The tree can grow to a height of 10-12 feet. They are suited for the warm climate like in Jharsuguda, Odisha, India. Mango Plants: The mango trees are the evergreen plants, which means that they remain green the whole of the year. Mango trees are reputed to live around 300 years, with the evergreen leaves it produces oxygen like no other tree.

Guava Plants: Like the mango trees, the guava trees are also evergreen. These trees make the environment clean & hygienic. These tropical plants give us the Guava Fruit, one of a kind fruit that is cultivated all over India in every season. Ficus Plants: Ficus Plants also know as Ficus Benjamina, mainly grows in the tropical forest ecosystems. Being a tropical plant it remains a green whole of the year. The Ficus Plants are considered auspicious in most of the world religions, symbolizing fertility. Golden Dewdrop Plants: Golden Dewdrop also known as Duranta Erecta is a species of flowering shrub. They are native to South America & Caribbean. They are also known as Pigeon Berry or Skyflower. They are one of the most beautiful flowering plants in the world bearing orange berries & pretty blue flowers.

Parents’ Corner THERE IS THE HIDDEN GREATNESS WITHIN YOU A man was walking nearby to a group of elephants that was halted by a small rope tied to their front leg. He was amazed by the fact that the huge elephants are not even making an attempt to break the rope and set themselves free. He saw an elephant trainer standing beside them and he expressed his puzzle state of mind. The trainer said “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grew up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

MORAL

It is false belief of the elephants that denied their freedom for life time. Likewise, many students are not trying to work towards success in their life just because they failed once before. So keep on trying and don’t get tied up with some false beliefs of failure.

FIRST FEW DAYS IN HOSTEL I joined Aparnaa World School’s Girls Hostel & I thought all will be good! I thought that I will get to make some new friends, enjoy a little & focus on my studies, confirming a good future for me.

to accept those changes. They taught me that without these changes we cannot move ahead in life & changes are the best lessons one can experience. So, we should learn to accept these changes.

But, to my surprise, I was not aware of the reformations like sharing room, following a timetable, studying hard etc., to come.

Now I have started incorporating these changes in my daily routine. As, rightly said that grass is greener at the other end, so it is. But, Aparnaa World School is teaching me to colour with my own shades!

The first three days were really hectic & I was not ready to accept the changes. But, at that time, respected Principal Ma’am, Teachers, Our hostel warden & roommates helped me a lot

Now, I am living happily in my hostel. - Subhra Jain Class: XI
